a mediterranian mansion: Lenny Kravitz former Miami home tour

Who doesn't love a good Lenny Kravitz song...hello American Woman.
I am a huge fan, especially now that I have seen this gorgeous Miami home that he used to live in.
Visions of white and hints of nature surround this enormous Florida estate.
Nothing is chicer in Miami than the color white and fabrics swaying about.
The textures in the home just scream, "walk around barefoot" and "kick back and relax".
You can't beat that...It's perfection.
{All I need is my bathing suit and a sundress and I am SO there}

Hope you guys are enjoying your Memorial Day weekend!

building your dream home...a Los Angeles design love story

Jamie Adler, daughter of Phyllis Morris (an LA design powerhouse) and now CEO of her mothers company, lives in this beautiful Los Angeles home nested in the beautiful hills of beverly. She and her husband and business partner, John, redesign the entire place...from what seems to have not been a dream home.
How fun does that sound? Renovating an ordinary home into your dream home with your husband?
And it happens to be on the same block as her parents home...i love idea keeping close to the family.
The 4,000 square foot home has hints of glamour, modern touches, quirky art and is full of love!
I am absolutely smitten with her style, she must get it from her mamma.
here is Jamie in her master bedroom, how adorable + stylish is she?

bliss in the kitch' {white on white daydreams}

Sometimes interior designers just get it right on point with all white.
Wouldn't it be oh so glamorous to have a huge family gathering in this fabulous kitchen?
I envision tons of baking ladies and card playing gentlemen.
Good times...
stark white walls and tile + open shelving + crystal chandelier + pink tufted ottoman = domestic bliss

all white, modern + chic home by Carrie Livingston

For a while now I have been keeping my eye on interior and furniture designer...Carrie Livingston.
She is based in Beverly Hills and has been featured in publications all over LA and I just can't get enough of her work.
As you can expect, I was thrilled when I opened this springs Angeleno Interiors mag and
noticed a feature on Mrs. Livingston. Here, she has updated a 1908 Hollywood house and turned it into a 'bright white with pops of color chic' home.
Extremely cozy and charming with elements of fun and playful...it's the perfect nod to today's LA style.

The artwork in the room below is perfection.
This fantastic acrylic and white patent leather chair is one of Livingston's own furniture designs.
So cozy + glamorous.
I want one.
The white dining room is modern yet oh so romantic...perfect for sunday brunch.
I love how she adds funky, whimsical pieces to her spaces. Very chic.

the decorista dreams...The Gatsby House hotel in Ireland

Ever since my first visit to Miami, and I saw the gorgeous dramatic design of the hotels, I knew that I wanted to be a hotel designer. Interior design has always been my absolute passion and having the freedom to style an outrageous hotel would be my ultimate bliss.
The Gatsby House in Ireland is the perfect example of hotel design done right.
Extravagant and luxurious, the Swell group does not disappoint my visual cravings.
In this particular hotel they created an old hollywood glamour look with each room named after a stylish movie star. Wouldn't you like to stay at this hotel on your visit and sip tea by the fire?
Enjoy the goodness.

the future of interior design????

We have all heard of energy efficient homes I'm sure. I think the idea sounds fantastic.
However, when I think of these homes, I think aluminum looking ugliness. Yuck!
Well, maybe that's not the case anymore.
I was surprised when I received an email about HUF HAUS and the Green{r}evolution.
Based off traditional German housing, these gorgeously modern, black, white and glass homes
take 14-16 weeks to construct for move in...AND they are made with the environment in mind.

Say What???
I know, I didn't believe it either...but they look pretty cool.
I mean, I would have to cozy it up...a lot, but I am loving all the windows!
What do you guys think? too modern?
or would you swing the 'green' way?

secret of domestic bliss #5...bring back the black

In Los Angeles, black is back and badder than ever.
I have recently fallen for the artwork of Ian Macdonald
and his fantastic black ceramic installation.
I seriously want to create this look in my home, it's perfectly modern.
How on earth could I not want a collection like this?

His work is just a wee bit out of my price range so I might be able to recreate the look with these things that I am digging on.

my heart is currently in San Francisco

Currently I am fantasizing about owning a Slim Aarons photo.
I love his work.
His poolside series in fantastic!
As I was googling his stuff, I came across an interior design firm called Palmer Weiss.
The firm is located in the lovely city of San Francisco.
When I laid eyes on this photo, I fell in love with it because this is one of my favorite
photos from Slim's collection. I would die to have it.
I would die for my gallery to show his work.
Anyway, how fantastic is the design by Palmer Weiss? Pretty fresh I'd say.

office space of the day...and more

This morning I decided that I love everything about
I love the way she adds hues of blue to her spaces.
There is something so calming about her style and I really find it
impressive that she uses such wild and fun patterns in
extremely traditional spaces.
fantastic desk + hints of blue = love

traditional rules

Glamour + Sophistication are on top of its game in this new home designed by Kara Mann.
I follow her every move as she is one of my role models in design.
Edgy, yet classic, she pulls out all the stops on this sophisticated home and does not disappoint.
As always...she makes me want to move to Chi-town, just so I can see her work more than they appear in the glossy mags.
How amazing is this home featured in this months Traditional Home?
