In just a few days I will be celebrating the one year anniversary of purchasing and moving into my home. I can’t believe it’s already been a year and my backyard is still in the same shape as the day I moved in. This month, I have been focused on giving my backyard a makeover but before I share the full transformation, I wanted to share with you my inspiration. Naturally, when I decided I was ready, I went to Pinterest to cull inspiration images for my backyard.

I live in a townhome, so my backyard is a small outdoor space, not a lot of room for a huge transformation. But my goals are to be able to entertain and relax outside. I want the space to feel like a jungle, where I am surrounded by green. I also want it to feel very tranquil, perhaps a water feature or two? Finally, I want it to feel decorated and vibrant with lots of textures, places to sit, chat and have a glass of rose or two…or three.

This is one of my favorites, it is so inviting. It’s an outdoor space that makes me want to grab a book and a glass of wine and just relax.

The bohemian and earthy feel of this outdoor space is beautiful. It feels like a jungle with all of the luscious green plants and succulents. I also love the textured fabric layers, the bohemian inspired outdoor pillows, it makes it feel so eclectic and easy.

I have always loved the idea of outdoor dining and outdoor entertaining. This is such a beautiful outdoor dining situation. I love the soft outdoor lighting hanging from the pergola. Also the diamond trellis for the plants to climb just soothes my visual senses.

This space is more for the gardener, which I am starting to get into. I love the way the plants are layered around the outdoor dining table. It feels very magical and I definitely want this feeling in my outdoor space, just with more furniture.

I absolutely adore this covered outdoor space with a pergola and what looks like clear covering to keep that natural light flowing. I just love an outdoor space that looks like a living room, I am obsessed with following @jennifershomeinterior.

This is another view of the same space, this one is actually outside and I can’t help obsess over having a black and white striped umbrella like this one. I’ve always thought one might be too much but I love how it looks here.

STRING LIGHTS

The one thing that makes a backyard magical, especially at sunset, the only time you want to be outside in the Summer in Texas…string lights. This set is my favorite look because I love the round shape, the warm amber glow and the weather proof standard.

OUTDOOR RUGS

It seems like outdoor rugs really give the ultimate grounding for an outdoor living space. It’s what lays the groundwork for creating an outdoor space to feel like a living room. I personally want to feel like I am sitting in a jungle in my outdoor oasis so this palm leaf rug seems right up my alley.
