I find that some of most coveted interior designed spaces are more dark and moody. So why is it that most of my clients are so afraid to go dark? Most people have it wrong, they think that a dark wall color will make a space feel too small and cramped. However the opposite is true, if its the right color, it can make your eye expand and the place actually seem bigger. The best part is that layering anything over a dark wall color will make it pop.
One of my favorite projects I worked on (see above photo) we used dark walls paired with a gorgeous gold ceiling. Notice how everything pops? The cherry blossoms in pink, look so rich against the dark walls, they don't lose any of the color the darkness enhances it. Everything is just a little more enhanced.

This is more of a modern mix but the white ceilings do a great job keeping the airy-ness of the dark furnishings in the room. Don't they look so rich layered all together?

Here are two entryways I am really in love with. This one above is more modern, masculine and gorgeous. Its a very dramatic look but looks rich and chic. The one below is more whimsical and fun with black trim, floors and staircase. I absolutely love the way dark puts a gorgeous outline on all the lines of this space. Pretty fab.
I can't even deal with how good the outdoor kitchen looks in dark grey. I would just die to hang out everyday in a space like this. Now lets talk about bedroom and how they really can be better dark. It's more romantic and great for when you need really good sleep. The best thing is that any look that fits your personality can go dark, modern, bohemian, romantic, etc. Any way you need your space to be, a dark wall color can put a gorgeous spin on it.
