Dallas Decorating | A paint trick to try

While discussing paint colors with a few designers over the weekend, an idea came up in conversation that I'd like to discuss. There is a new paint style on the scene that's pretty chic & its the one color trick. Usually, I think its smart to pay attention to the ceiling but its usually in a different color or finish. However, this new look I love is all one color for impact! 

Painting the doors and moldings all in the same color gives a rich and sophisticated look that just kills the glossy pages of a magazine. This house featured in D magazine stopped me in my tracks with beauty. Not only is the color fabulous, the style of paint section is too! 

Designer Eric Prokesh can be credited for this glam look. I love how in addition to the all over paint, he used a wall covering in the exact hue to match the walls but add some dimension. Who else is obsessed with this bed? I am so into this space and into the paint look too. Anyone ready to try it?

Decorating with lucite furniture

The thing about decorating in the warmer months of the year is that you want to feel that fresh, clear and airy vibe. You'll want your sanctuary to look like a nice cool breeze. The best way to accomplish a lighter look is to use clear or open furnishings. Lucite pieces let a room breath while still functioning as a fantastic piece of furniture. Especially if you have a small space, you'll want to incorporate a clear piece or two, it makes a room seem more open. 

Lucite consoles have been all the rage and are some of the the most popular piece of lucite furniture. I also have a thing for clear coffee tables. I love the way it makes a room feel and how it lets the magic of the rug show through. 

Another extremely popular look is the clear ghost chair. Major style yet takes up so little visual residence. It's perfection. Looks perfect at a dinner table, office space or even just an occasional chair. They also can be fantastic for outdoor use. 

These acrylic chairs are pretty cool too.
