Tribeza Magazine Interiors Tour Highlights- Austin, Texas

The Decorista January 27, 2014

Since I have been back in Austin, I have been trying to find the best design in the city and its not as easy as it is in say my other homes, LA & NYC. Nonetheless, this weekend I met up with some amazing Los Angeles turned Austin design gals & toured some of the cities most tricked out homes. {From L to R} Kelly LaPlante, an eco friendly design gal, Maureen Stevens, moi, Elizabeth Mollen of Stone Textile Studio, & Sarah Stacey. I just love meeting like minded decoristas and these girls were pretty freaking cool. So, we had a nice little brunch and then set off for the Tribeza Interiors Tour.I didn't get to all of it, but I will fill you in on a few of my favorite moments...

First stop was a home designed by Amy Lutz of  Butter Lutz. This home was very traditional and filled with color. My favorite part was the entryway because of the retro feeling wallpaper & styling, it was just really bold and dramatic. The rest of the home was more subdued and expected, with very neo traditional decorating which was nice. However, a little disappointing for me after that excitingness of an entryway. Very pretty none the less.

The next home was done by Rebecca Gainsley of Blink. I adored this home, it had a navy front door which as we know is my favorite color of the moment. Everything was super whimsical and fun with lots of character. It was pretty traditional in design, but there were so many awesome original antique accents, I couldn't help but not like the unusual pieces. The lighting in each room was fantastic but my favorite part of this Austin home was the hunter green Scalamandre zebra wallpaper. It just was unexpected in this home, so I appreciated the whimsy of it.

The next home was done by  Tracey Over Stead and this home was probably my absolute favorite. You couldn't really see it in photos but the layout of this house was so insanely cool, and every little detail was a piece that was jawdropping, I just couldn't help but walk around mouth wide open. This first shot is of a corner in the dining room with a gold foil design on the wall that was just insane. There was incredible art, cool light fixtures, cool patterns of the flooring, windows with arches that made me want to scream out loud, two sail boats as kids beds, hundreds of those dunny toys, just all of it. The octopus themed bathroom was so fun, I just loved the personality of this home, which I might add was built by some old rock star, but I forget the name.

The next one we saw was by Roni of Verokolt. This house was filled with magical rooms and lots and lots of pieces of  design. For me, it was a little overwhelming with different styles but I enjoyed the painted black and white striped entryway flooring and wall. Upstairs was much more my speed, 2 beautiful  bedrooms with gorgeous wallpaper. One had a really pretty butterfly print and the other a chic leaf wallpaper that I especially liked. The best part was a high gloss red spiral staircase room with silver wallpaper, pretty glam I'd say.

Now, a personal love of mine, Kim West. A former NYC fashion gal, turned Austin designer, this girl is so my swagger. I mean, the second we met we knew we were kindred spirits. And if you read this blog, you will see by the design/decor, this one was totally my vibe. I loved the bold colors, use of pink, blue, purple and lots of gold. This house was so fun to see because almost everything was unexpected and very glamorous.

Thomas Barcy of BarcyChen, had this little paradise of a modern home. All glass walls, what?! A glossy blue kitchen, what?! A pond in the middle of the home, WHAT?! It was pretty cool to see, not sure I could live there as I would be terrified, but I really like the space. It felt like a being inside of a piece of art.

The last stop for us was a home done by Clarissa Bailey. I just loved this home. It was so true to Austin roots with hints of fun and eccentric design. The kitchen, which I didn't get a shot of was fab with leather handles for pulls. They also had a chic navy ceiling with the constellation of Big Sur. Pretty clever.

10 things that rocked my world this week. 1.26.14

The Decorista January 26, 2014

1. I'm working on a few big projects here and starting to collect a whole slew of glamorous accessories. Found these gorgeous busts on a recent antique hunt. Loving the Austin Antique Hall.

2. Got my boys (brother + dad) working on a big project with me...I need all that extra strength, cause we're going navy.

3. Had a delicious brunch at Clark's, an Austin eatery that I adore & the whole tablescape vibe convinced me that navy and white is so fresh. Then adding in gold and just a pop of hot pink is the ultimate combination.

4. I must say that gorgeous Radiant Orchid looks so ho next to most colors. No wonder it made color of the year.

5. Did a little shopping around Austins finest antiques & vintage stores. One little area really spoke to me so well. This vignette with an old Scandinavian style console in two shades of light grey. Then mixed in is some abstract art, chic sconces, a zebra rug + a killer dining set of brass, grey + lucite. Agh. So chic.

6. I also found this Asian inspired shop with gorgeous accessories. The wall was a beautiful shade of navy, my current obsession. (isn't it funny how when you are into something at the moment, you suddenly see it everywhere, like never before) Anyway, I loved the navy wall + black and white striped sofa pairing. The modern artwork really made it all come together.

7. Found this neon sign in hot pink "werk" --needing this now.

8. As you saw earlier in the week, black doors are currently my way to dress up a boring hallway.

9. I've always been a fan of that antelope carpeting, its very chic. That is until I saw this similar version by Stark, in navy and blue hues.

10. I think the best part of my week was yesterday. Went with a crew of design gals in Austin to the Tribeza magazine interiors tour. Will dish and tell you all about what I saw soon, but for now see the photo of the brunch we had before at Epicerie. Absolutely delicious.
