Decor report: why you need a Moroccan berber rug like now

I've had rugs on my brain lately. I think perhaps its the changing of the season to Fall when textiles and textures seem to be at the forefront of my mind. I am a glam living girl at the core but I always love a bohemian twist to my personal spaces. One of my favorite rugs is the wool Morrocan style rug I have. It's so comfy and plush, I literally would sleep on it. Total bohemian glamour. 

I read an article about the history of Moroccan rugs and the story moved me so much, I am now semi obsessed with these rugs. Not just because of the plush comfort but the story and message behind each rug is so empowering.

MOROCCAN RUGS ARE RICH IN FEMALE HISTORY

Moroccan rugs were not only made to keep homes warm but were a tradition passed down for centuries by grandmothers, mothers & daughters. Each rug takes about a year to make and the patters, personality and look of the rug was a reflection of the personal life story. The rugs character was made to reflect celebrations, weddings, phases of inner peace, etc. These rugs tell the personal stories of each woman. 

For some reason this just makes me want another one.

( There are so many different styles of Moroccan rug, each representing a different tribe. My favorite looks are the beige + brown or gray, stripes, diamonds and zig zags, which are from the Beni Ouarain tribe. )

MOROCCAN RUGS CARRY REALLY GOOD VIBES

 The lines on each rug are unique and they symbolize the sheep paths along the mountains to offer protection for each home. Each rug carries an energy of stability, love and protection. Isn't this the type of good vibes every home needs?

The purpose of the Moroccan rugs were not only for floor covering but also for naps, having family gatherings and pouring tea for guests. The rugs are so plush they can be used to sit on and play with your loved ones. It brings the family together.

Why you may need to re-decorate this weekend!

Life update: My new favorite thing in life is my weekly Mommy & Baby classes. It's a weekly meeting of 7 new moms who get together with our babies and talk transitioning into motherhood. It is SUCH a positive addition to my life. Not only does it feel so fabulous having conversations about poop, breastfeeding and intimidating pediatricians but it's so comforting to know you are not alone. 

Yesterday, we spoke about radical self care, which of course I am fully behind. What I loved about the conversation is that self care doesn't just mean green juice and bubble baths. It also means committing to doing the things that make you happy or blissful. For me, sometimes that means watching Bachelor in Paradise. Other times, it means creating new content and reading design magazines. It's committing to your passions and the things that fill you up. 

In order to stay committed to your self care, you'll want to believe you are worth it. We can get carried away with the chaos of living, i.e. having a new baby at home, stressful work deadlines and entertaining family. However, its so important to have your own wellbeing at the top of your priority list. You have to be full to be able to give your best self to others. 

ALIGN YOUR HOME WITH YOUR PASSIONS

In order to live by the Blissful Living way of life, you must create a living environment that supports your wellbeing and gives back to you. Like, creating a beautiful nook with easy access to your favorite magazines and your favorite things. Placing beautiful affirmations on your mood board a la @CrystalPalecek. Creating a gorgeous space for yoga & meditation in your home where you can get quiet and listen to your intuition. Styling your kitchen so that you really enjoy trying new recipes or making smoothies for the family. 

WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT PASSION OR OBSESSION? How can you decorate or set up space in your home to easily fulfill your passions? Doing so will step up your frequency & energy putting you in a high vibration. You’ll have more confidence & enthusiasm for everything else going on in your life. Your life will improve and your bliss will be at an all time high.
