In my house, Christmas starts on November 1st. Not the day after Thanksgiving, not December. November 1st. The tree goes up, the garland comes out, and the very first room I decorate every single year is the downstairs bathroom.
And this year, I'm going full Ralph Lauren-inspired Christmas.
Ralph Lauren has always been, and forever will be, my favorite designer. Period. His look never chases trends. Tartan plaid, rich red velvet, warm brass, tortoiseshell, a little zebra, equestrian prints, deep evergreen. It feels like Christmas at a cozy country estate, and it looks just as good ten years from now as it does today.
The best part? You don't need a Ralph Lauren budget to get the look. In this post I'm sharing 23 Ralph Lauren-inspired Christmas bathroom decor ideas, with styling tips for each one and links so you can shop the look (plenty of them for less).
If you've been waiting for permission to start decorating, this is it. Start small. Start with the bathroom.
Why I Always Decorate the Powder Room First
The guest bathroom is one of the most important rooms to decorate for Christmas, and it's the one most people skip. Here's why I start there every year:
Every guest sees it. Holiday parties, family dinners, the neighbor who pops in. They may never see your bedroom, but they'll definitely see your powder room.
It's small, so it's quick. You can finish it in one afternoon. That little win gets you excited to keep going through the rest of the house.
It's low risk. A garland, a velvet bow and a candle can change the whole room. If you're nervous about committing to a look, test it here first.
It sets the tone. Once the bathroom is done, the whole house starts to feel like Christmas.
So don't be afraid to start. You don't need a full room makeover. You need a few thoughtful pieces, and the Ralph Lauren style makes that easy.
What Makes a Christmas Bathroom Feel Ralph Lauren-Inspired
Before we get into the ideas, here's the Ralph Lauren Christmas formula. Mix two or three of these and you're there:
Tartan and plaid: red, green and navy plaid on ribbon, towels, frames and bows.
Deep red velvet: velvet ribbon tied on towels, garland, wreaths and planters.
Warm brass and gold: faucets, cabinet pulls, mirror frames and towel rings.
Tortoiseshell and zebra: a tortoiseshell tray or soap dispenser, a zebra-print rug or small accent.
Equestrian touches: horse prints, hunting scenes, leather and woven baskets.
Blue-and-white porcelain: chinoiserie planters and ginger jars for a classic preppy feel.
Lots of fresh greenery: cedar, pine, berries and Norfolk pines that make it feel lived-in.
The goal is timeless, cozy and collected, like it's been in the family for years. Now let's get into the ideas.
15 Ralph Lauren-Inspired Christmas Bathroom Decor Ideas
01 | Drape Garland Over the Mirror with Red Velvet Ribbon
If you only do one thing in your bathroom this Christmas, make it this. A lush garland draped over the mirror with long red velvet ribbon tails is the most Ralph Lauren move there is. It's elegant, a little dramatic, and it instantly makes the whole room feel like the holidays.
What I love about this bathroom is that every piece works together. The brass faucet and mirror frame warm everything up. The plaid-matted horse print is pure equestrian Ralph. The blue-and-white planter brings in that classic preppy touch, and the velvet bows tie it all together.
How to style it
Go long with the ribbon. Let the red velvet ribbon tails hang 12 to 18 inches below the garland. Longer tails look more luxurious.
Use faux cedar or pine garland. Real greenery dries out fast in a steamy bathroom. A good faux garland lasts for years.
Tie a bow on the hand towel. Wrap a strip of velvet ribbon around a crisp white hand towel. It costs almost nothing and makes a big statement.
Add a small potted tree. A Norfolk pine or mini evergreen in a chinoiserie pot fills an empty corner of the counter. Tie a matching bow around the pot.
Put your candle on a tray. A marble or scalloped tray with a sprig of greenery makes a simple candle feel styled.
Bring in a few small accents. A nutcracker soap dispenser, little white ceramic houses or a glass tree adds charm without clutter.
Hang a basket. A woven wall basket filled with red berry picks adds texture and height.
02 | Fill a Tall Vase with Red Winterberry Branches
Sometimes one big statement is all a bathroom needs. Tall red winterberry branches in an oversized vase add height, color and drama without cluttering the counter. It's simple, it's elegant, and it feels like something you'd find in a Ralph Lauren holiday shop window.
This vanity proves you don't need a lot to make it feel like Christmas. The deep red berries pop against the soft greige walls and classic wainscoting. The smoky ribbed vase feels moody and luxe, and the brass faucet and gold mirror warm it all up. Then that little nutcracker in his green and red uniform adds just the right touch of old-world holiday charm.
How to style it
Go big with the berry stems. Let the branches rise at least twice the height of the vase. Tall, loose stems look natural and expensive.
Choose a dark or smoky vase. Charcoal, smoke or tortoiseshell-toned glass feels richer than clear glass and hides the stems.
Place it in the corner. Set the vase at the back corner of the counter so it frames the mirror without blocking the sink.
Let the mirror double it. Angle the branches slightly toward the mirror so the reflection makes the arrangement look twice as full.
Add one nutcracker. A single traditional nutcracker in red and green feels collected, not kitschy. Stick to one or two on a small vanity.
Upgrade your soap. Pour hand soap into an amber or tortoiseshell brown glass dispenser. It looks custom and ties in with the warm brass.
Keep the counter clear. Three pieces is plenty. Negative space is what makes this look feel high-end.
03 | Tie Your Hand Towel into a Bow like Donna
Styling & image by Donna Delaine Home
This is the easiest Christmas bathroom idea in the whole post, and it costs nothing. Just tie your hand towel into a big, loose bow right on the towel ring. Suddenly the whole bathroom looks like a gift.
I love how moody and collected this space feels. The olive green towel, the fresh cedar with tiny pinecones and the green glass candle keep everything in one rich, earthy palette. The vintage gallery wall in antique frames gives it that old-world, Ralph Lauren library feeling, and the brass mirror and faucet add warmth against the black tile. It's Christmas, but quiet and elegant.
How to style it
Use a thick, textured towel. Plush or textured cotton holds the bow shape better than a thin towel.
Tie it loosely. Thread the towel through the ring, tie a loose knot in the center, then fluff and pull out the loops and tails until it looks like a bow.
Stick to deep, rich colors. Olive, hunter green, burgundy or a plaid towel all feel classic and Ralph Lauren-inspired.
Put cedar in a pitcher. A rustic ceramic pitcher or crock full of cedar stems with mini pinecones feels more natural than a formal arrangement.
Layer in vintage art. A small gallery of antique-style prints in mismatched gold and wood frames makes the space feel collected over time.
Choose a moody candle. A green or amber ribbed glass candle on a marble coaster adds a touch of luxury to the counter.
Keep the palette tight. Green, brass, cream and black. Fewer colors make a small bathroom feel calm and expensive.
04 | Tie Cedar Sprigs and Velvet Bows onto Your Sconces
Styling + image by Carole Anne Creative
Here's a detail most people never think to decorate: the light fixtures. Tie a little bundle of cedar and a burgundy velvet bow onto each sconce and the whole bathroom looks finished and thoughtful. It takes five minutes and feels so elegant.
This bathroom is Ralph Lauren-inspired Christmas done softly. The dark green vanity, brass fixtures and marble counter are already classic. Then the holiday touches stay small and refined: tabletop trees with gold-dusted tips on a silver tray, a velvet bow on a textured hand towel, and candlelight glowing beside cut-glass apothecary jars. Even the soap bottle gets a sprig of cedar and a dried orange slice.
How to style it
Decorate your sconces. Tie a few cedar stems to the arm of each sconce with velvet ribbon, keeping the greenery away from the bulb and shade.
Choose burgundy over bright red. Deep wine velvet feels richer and more Ralph Lauren than a bright holiday red.
Group tabletop trees on a tray. Two trees in different heights on a silver or brass tray look intentional instead of scattered.
Tie a bow around a folded towel. Fold a waffle or linen hand towel over the counter edge and wrap it with a velvet bow.
Use cut-glass jars. Fill apothecary jars with cotton balls or bath salts and let a candle glow beside them for sparkle.
Dress up the soap. Tuck a cedar sprig and a dried orange slice around the neck of the soap bottle with twine.
Work with your vanity color. A green or navy vanity already feels festive. Let it do some of the work for you.
05 | Add a Tartan Plaid Lamp and a Mini Wreath
Nothing says Ralph Lauren Christmas quite like tartan plaid, and a little plaid lamp on the vanity is such an unexpected way to use it. Add a mini wreath on the mirror and you've got cozy, classic holiday charm in a regular family bathroom.
This space shows how to layer red, green and plaid without it feeling cluttered. The small cedar wreath with white berries and a red velvet bow hangs right on the mirror. The red tartan pleated lampshade on a brass base gives off warm, cozy light. The vanity tray pulls it all together with a velvet nutcracker, red taper candles in brass holders and a fresh bundle of cedar and berries.
How to style it
Hang a mini wreath on the mirror. Use a clear adhesive hook or a ribbon looped over the top of the mirror. A 12 to 16 inch wreath is the right size for most vanities.
Bring in a plaid lamp. A small cordless lamp with a tartan shade adds instant Ralph Lauren style and soft light at night. You can also swap just the shade on a lamp you already own.
Layer your hand towels. Hang a red towel over a white embroidered holly towel, then add green on the next ring. Layers feel abundant and festive.
Style a vanity tray. Corral the decor on a round wood tray so the counter still feels tidy.
Use a velvet nutcracker. A monochrome burgundy or green nutcracker feels more elevated than a traditional painted one.
Add taper candles. Red tapers in brass candlesticks look elegant. Choose flameless tapers in a bathroom for safety.
Mix in white. White porcelain bottles or berries in the wreath keep all that red and green from feeling heavy.
06 | Dress Up the Bathtub with Lit Trees and a Monogrammed Towel
Image & styling by Notonly Blue
Don't forget the bathtub. A pair of small lit trees on the window ledge and a brass reindeer between them turn the tub into a cozy holiday moment. Add a monogrammed towel draped over the edge and it feels like a luxury hotel at Christmas.
This bathroom is pure old-world elegance. The deep green tile on the arched ceiling, the marble tub surround and the brass sconces already feel very Ralph Lauren. The Christmas touches are minimal on purpose: two twinkling trees, one brass reindeer and soft ribbon tails on the sconces. The monogrammed towel is the finishing touch. Monograms are a classic Ralph Lauren detail, and they make any bathroom feel personal and polished.
How to style it
Use a matching pair. Two identical small trees on either side of a window or tub feel balanced and intentional.
Choose battery-operated lights. Small trees with built-in battery fairy lights are safer near water and need no outlet.
Add one brass animal. A brass reindeer, stag or horse in the center is a simple, elegant focal point.
Drape a monogrammed towel. Fold a white towel with a colored trim and monogram over the tub edge. It looks luxe and it's useful.
Try ribbon in a new color. Sage and teal ribbon on the sconces is a softer twist on classic red. Match it to your tile or towels.
Let your bathroom's best feature shine. If you have a beautiful window, tub or tile, keep the decor simple and frame it instead of covering it.
07 | Pair Hunter Green Walls with Vintage Christmas Art by Ale
Styling & image by Ale Hernandez Decor
If there's one color that says Ralph Lauren Christmas, it's deep hunter green. Pair it with red berries, burgundy velvet and a touch of gold and you get that cozy, old-money holiday feeling, even in a simple builder-grade bathroom.
This is one of my favorite examples because it proves you don't need a fancy remodel. The faucet is basic chrome and the counter is simple, but the green board and batten, the gold-framed art and the layers of greenery make it feel rich and collected. The vintage-style painting of brass bells and pinecones is the star. It feels like an heirloom you'd find in a country manor.
How to style it
Swap in seasonal art. Trade your everyday print for a vintage-style Christmas painting in a gold frame. Digital art prints are an easy, budget-friendly way to do this.
Lean into hunter green. If you can't paint, bring green in through hand towels, a bath mat or a small potted tree.
Choose themed hand towels. A green towel with a simple tree pattern feels festive but still classic. Hang it on a brass towel stand for a little polish.
Tie velvet ribbon on a vase. A burgundy velvet bow on a plain white vase of pine and berry stems makes it look styled in seconds.
Add white ceramic trees. Small white trees in different heights soften all that green and add a wintry feel.
Light a mercury glass candle. Gold mercury glass adds warm sparkle without feeling flashy.
Don't forget the shower curtain. Clip small red bows along the shower rod. It's an easy, inexpensive detail guests will notice.
Use the floor. A mini potted tree wrapped in burlap with a red bow fills an empty corner beautifully.
08 | Create a Cozy Corner with Plaid, a Wall Basket and Vintage Art
This is the Ralph Lauren hunting lodge look in one small corner, and I'm obsessed. A burgundy plaid throw, an equestrian riding helmet on a peg rack and a basket full of pine make the bathroom feel like a country estate at Christmas.
Every piece here feels collected over time. The gold-framed vintage painting of a father and son bringing home a Christmas tree is such a sweet, nostalgic touch. The twisted white tapers in marble holders add a little elegance. And the brass bells tied to the plaid throw are a detail you'll want to copy right away.
How to style it
Hang a plaid throw or scarf. A burgundy or red plaid blanket draped over a hook adds instant Ralph Lauren warmth. It doesn't have to be a towel.
Add brass bells. Tie a string of vintage brass bells to the throw or a doorknob. They look beautiful and jingle when the door opens.
Fill a wall basket with pine. A tall woven basket on a peg rack filled with pine and pinecone stems adds height and rustic texture.
Bring in equestrian touches. A riding helmet, a horse print or a leather strap on a hook brings in that classic Ralph Lauren equestrian feel.
Swap in vintage Christmas art. Lean an antique-style winter scene in an ornate gold frame on a picture ledge. Thrift stores and digital prints both work.
Use twisted taper candles. White twisted tapers in marble or brass holders feel old-world and elegant.
Put a mini tree on a stool. A small potted tree on a vintage wooden stool fills a bare corner and adds height.
09 | Hang a Tartan Plaid Shower Curtain
If you want the biggest Ralph Lauren impact for the least effort, swap your shower curtain for tartan plaid. It's the largest surface in most bathrooms, so one change makes the whole room feel like Christmas.
This bathroom keeps everything else simple and lets the plaid do the talking. The red, green and cream tartan sets the mood. A vintage-style Christmas tree print in a light wood frame hangs above the toilet. On the vanity, a rustic ceramic pot holds soft, drooping cedar with little brass bells tucked in. A candle and a small tray on the toilet tank finish it off.
How to style it
Choose a classic tartan shower curtain. Red, green and cream plaid feels timeless. Look for a fabric curtain, not plastic, for a softer, more expensive look.
Keep the rest neutral. With a bold curtain, stick to cream, wood, brass and greenery everywhere else.
Hang bells in your greenery. Tuck small brass bells into a pot of cedar stems. Drooping cedar looks more natural than stiff pine.
Use a rustic pot. A textured ceramic or stoneware pot adds an earthy, collected feel.
Style the toilet tank. A small tray with a lidded basket and a room spray keeps essentials tidy and pretty.
Keep the counter light. One arrangement and one candle is plenty when the shower curtain is the star.
10 | Frame the Mirror with Lit Garland and Mini Lamps (Perfect for Apartments)
This one is for my apartment and small-budget friends. You don't need to own your home or spend a fortune to have a beautiful Christmas bathroom. A lit garland around the mirror and a couple of cute cordless lamps are all it takes.
I love this bathroom because it's a basic rental setup: a plain white vanity, standard light bar and a regular mirror. But wrap the mirror in garland with twinkle lights, pinecones and red berries, then add little lamps with pleated shades trimmed in red, and it glows. The lamps look traditional and very Ralph Lauren, and you can find similar ones on Amazon.
How to style it
Use renter-friendly hooks. Removable adhesive hooks hold garland around the mirror without damaging walls or the frame.
Buy pre-lit garland. Battery-operated, pre-lit garland means no outlets or messy cords. Look for one with a timer so it turns on every evening.
Choose garland with extras. Pinecones and red berries already attached make an inexpensive garland look fuller and more expensive.
Add cordless lamps. Small rechargeable lamps with pleated shades add warm, cozy light and can sit anywhere on the counter.
Look for a red trim. A pleated shade edged in red or plaid ties the lamps into your Christmas colors.
Turn off the overhead light. At night, let the garland and lamps light the room. It feels like a cozy hotel.
Keep the rest simple. A nice soap bottle and clear counter are all you need when the mirror is this festive.
11 | Style the Toilet Tank with a Lit Mini Tree
Got a super small powder room with no counter space? This idea is for you. A lit mini tree and a candle on the toilet tank is all you need to make even the tiniest bathroom feel like Christmas.
I love how simple and cozy this is. The little tree is wrapped in burlap and glowing with warm lights, and the three-wick candle adds even more soft light. The gold-framed swan print above feels classic and elegant, and the brass flush handle ties right in. Turn the overhead light off and the whole room glows.
How to style it
Use the toilet tank. In a tiny powder room, the tank is your counter. Keep it to two pieces so it doesn't feel crowded.
Choose a pre-lit mini tree. A battery-operated tree around 18 to 24 inches tall fits most tanks and needs no outlet.
Wrap the base. Burlap, linen or a plaid ribbon around the pot looks cozy and hides a plain plastic base.
Go flameless. A three-wick flameless candle gives you the glow without the worry in a small space.
Keep your art up. Classic art in a gold frame, like this swan print, already feels Ralph Lauren-inspired. No need to swap it.
Light it at night. Leave the tree and candle on as a nightlight for guests. It's such a welcoming touch.
12 | Drape a Garland Crescent on a Round Mirror
Design + image Home by Mari
If you have a round mirror, try draping garland along just one side in a loose crescent instead of wrapping the whole thing. It feels modern, effortless and still so festive, especially with a red velvet bow and a brass bell at the top.
This powder room is moody Ralph Lauren at its best. The black paneled walls feel like a gentleman's study, and the warm oak vanity, woven baskets and brass fixtures keep it from feeling dark. The holiday touches are few but thoughtful: the garland crescent, a mix of brass and green tabletop trees, and a small vintage floral painting in a gold frame on the wall.
How to style it
Drape just one side. Run the garland from the top of the mirror down one side, letting it curve with the frame. Secure it with clear command hooks.
Add a bow and bell at the top. A red velvet ribbon with long tails and a small brass bell gives the garland a focal point.
Mix metal and ceramic trees. Pair brass tabletop trees with a glossy green ceramic one in different heights.
Go dark if you dare. Black or deep charcoal walls make greenery, brass and red velvet glow. It's very moody Ralph Lauren.
Warm it up with wood. A natural wood vanity, riser or tray softens dark walls and adds a cozy lodge feel.
Use a wood riser for soap. Set amber glass soap dispensers on a small wooden riser to keep the counter neat and styled.
Hang one small oil painting. A vintage-style still life in a gold frame adds old-world charm.
13 | Hang a Bell Swag on the Mirror and Mix in Animal Print
A swag is a wreath's more relaxed cousin, and it looks amazing hanging straight down the middle of an arched mirror. Add a few brass bells and long burgundy ribbon and you've got instant holiday charm. Then mix in a little animal print for that classic Ralph Lauren safari touch.
This bathroom has so many Ralph Lauren details. The charcoal walls feel rich and moody. The black-and-white cheetah photograph is a fun nod to animal print, and the white monogrammed towels are pure preppy elegance. A gold tabletop tree with a black-and-white check pattern adds a playful twist, and the potted cedar with a red velvet bow brings Christmas to the toilet tank.
How to style it
Hang a swag instead of a wreath. A cedar or pine swag with brass bells hangs flat against the mirror and leaves room to see your reflection.
Use burgundy ribbon with long tails. Let the ribbon trail past the bottom of the swag for an elegant, flowing look.
Bring in animal print. A cheetah, leopard or zebra print, photo or accent feels classic Ralph Lauren and pairs beautifully with red and green.
Add monogrammed towels. White towels with a single black initial look tailored and timeless. Keep them up all year.
Try a patterned tabletop tree. Gold with black-and-white check feels collected and a little whimsical without breaking the palette.
Tie a velvet bow on a pot. A small pot of cedar with a red velvet bow, a tealight and one mercury glass ornament dresses up the toilet tank.
Let your light fixture sparkle. Crystal or glass vanity lights reflect candlelight and add holiday glamour.
14 | Add Tree-Shaped Taper Candles in Brass Bow Holders
This one is my own bathroom! For Christmas, I added three tree-shaped taper candles in brass candlestick holders with little bows. That's it. Three pieces, and the whole vanity feels like the holidays.
I love how the sage green tree candles look like a tiny forest when they're lit, and the brass bows on the holders are so sweet and a little old-world. They sit perfectly next to my blue-and-white chinoiserie pieces and the ornate gold frame, which already give the room that classic Ralph Lauren feeling. It's proof that you don't have to redecorate. Sometimes one small grouping is all you need.
How to style it
Group candles in threes. Three candlesticks at staggered heights look balanced and intentional.
Choose tree-shaped tapers. Taper candles shaped like Christmas trees are festive but still elegant. Sage or deep green feels more refined than bright green.
Look for bow details. Brass candlestick holders with a bow are a sweet, classic touch that feels very Ralph Lauren.
Pair with blue-and-white porcelain. Chinoiserie planters and lidded jars look beautiful next to brass and green.
Work with what you have. Start with your everyday decor and add just one holiday grouping. It's easy and budget friendly.
15 | Hang Equestrian Art from a Velvet Bow
styling & image Kat from Work
Hanging art from a velvet bow is one of the prettiest Christmas details, and it's so easy. Stack two small framed prints, a sleigh and a horse, on a ribbon and top it with a burgundy bow. It looks like something straight out of a Ralph Lauren country house.
This bathroom is full of classic touches. The floral wallpaper and olive green beadboard feel traditional and cozy. Burgundy velvet bows and eucalyptus dress up the brass sconces. On the vanity, a little pleated lamp, an amber soap bottle on a brass tray and a tiny framed Christmas tree print keep it simple. And the brass swan dish on the toilet tank is such a charming detail for guests.
How to style it
Hang art from a ribbon. Hang small frames on a single length of velvet ribbon from one nail, then tie a bow at the top.
Choose equestrian and sleigh prints. Horses, hunting scenes and vintage sleighs feel very Ralph Lauren and work through winter.
Tie bows on your sconces. A burgundy velvet bow and a few eucalyptus stems on each sconce arm look elegant. Keep them away from bulbs.
Put a lamp on the vanity. A small lamp with a pleated shade adds soft, warm light and makes the bathroom feel like a room, not just a bathroom.
Add a tiny framed print to the counter. A mini Christmas tree print leaning on the vanity is a sweet, seasonal touch.
Offer something special. Fill a brass dish with wrapped mints or chocolates on the toilet tank. Guests will love it.
Bring in dried stems. A ribbed terracotta vase with dried berries or branches adds height and natural texture.
