In just a few days I will be celebrating the one year anniversary of purchasing and moving into my home. I can’t believe it’s already been a year and my backyard is still in the same shape as the day I moved in.

This month, I have been focused on giving my backyard a makeover but before I share the full transformation, I wanted to share with you my inspiration. Naturally, when I decided I was ready, I went to Pinterest to cull inspiration images for my backyard.

I live in a townhome, so my backyard is a small outdoor space, not a lot of room for a huge transformation. But my goals are to be able to entertain and relax outside. I want the space to feel like a jungle, where I am surrounded by green. I also want it to feel very tranquil, perhaps a water feature or two? Finally, I want it to feel decorated and vibrant with lots of textures, places to sit, chat and have a glass of rose or two…or three.

There’s something about this time of year that always calls me back home… but not just inside my home—into my outdoor spaces.

I’ve been craving slower mornings, fresh air, soft light, and spaces that feel like a true extension of my lifestyle. And what I’ve realized is this: your backyard isn’t just a backyard—it’s an opportunity to create a sanctuary.

A place where you sip your coffee in the morning.
Where you unwind in the evening.
Where you host, dream, journal, and reconnect with yourself.
