5 Lessons I learned in 2021...

As we move closer and closer to 2022, I’ve been spending a lot of time in reflection about this last year. My 40th year was pretty wild, I’ve been thinking about what I learned, how I grew and what I want to leave behind with 2021. If there is one thing I have learned is that I love to look at everything as a lesson, like what did this teach me or what did I gain from experiencing that. For me, it just makes life that much more fun and memorable. I believe it is so important to romanticize life and to make every second matter. So, here we go….here are a few of my favorite lessons…..

Lesson #1. Creating and cultivating a strong Morning routine is essential.

….and I mean essential. I have always loved rituals being a part of my day and as a Capricorn it is pretty easy for me to stick with a consistent routine but this year, I outdid myself. About mid-year, I had this epiphany where I found myself saying “I just would like that amount of money to be like, committed to me”! And I just knew that if I wanted to manifest a consistent, committed income in my business, I had to become someone who was fully COMMITTED! So, as I do, I decided to create some commitments that I would stick to.

For me, it was my morning routine. Every single morning, I decided to start doing Morning Pages as my journal routine, I would walk in the gym for 25 minutes, have a green smoothie, make my bed and take my vitamins. Every single damn day. And I did NOT miss one day. In fact, I still have not missed a day and I have added on a few more things to my list.

The thing about it is that after my morning routine, I already feel like I have accomplished so much. I noticed I just would feel so much more confident than I had ever before in my business. For years, I would wake up and almost immediately begin working and I would work all day long. Now that I prioritize myself and my morning, my life feels happier, more full and honestly, I make more money than I ever have.

In the morning, I always check off the routine on my list. There is just something so gratifying about that moment when I know I have showed up for myself all the way. For 2022, I’ve decided to do it with a Hot Pink Neon Filofax, it literally is so pretty and bright. I haven’t even opened it yet and I am already ready to make some lists and check things off.

Lesson #2. We aren’t here to follow rules.

Supposed rules are the worst. And the funny thing is, we actually are always making up our own rules based on what we see around us. I’ve learned that social media, society, reality tv…all of it, are just programming us with rules. This year, I became a hat person and before that I wouldn’t allow myself to wear hats because I kind of always thought they were too “trendy millennial” for my style. But one day, I just decided to throw on this pink fedora style hat and honestly I loved it. It covered up my gray roots and made my outfit pop. All of a sudden, I bought a few more hats to wear because I enjoyed the experience so much. I love my new hats so much, I even created a little hat wall that I am now obsessed with.

It was in that moment that I decided to be a rule breaker. Even if that meant breaking my own rules that I just made up in my head.

Lesson #3. Make your energy expensive.

Oooooooh weeeeeeee. This was a major lesson for me this year and one I have really learned how to teach to my goddess coaching clients. The amount of people and things I used to give my energy and focus to was exhausting. As an empath, I always take on the emotions of other people, I can literally feel what they are going through. So, I always felt I was the BEST person someone could be around when they were going through it. I am always available for those who need me, I am a really good friend/daughter/sister/etc. Well, let me tell you, that investment does not always work out for your benefit, it does not enhance your life to allow people to suck your energy.

And on the flip side, you do yourself a disservice when you count on other people to get you through your own drama/bs. A friend who will let you vent/complain/whine for hours on end isn’t actually doing you a favor. I went through some really crazy life changes this year and looking back I could have saved a LOT of wasted time and energy just taking out some solo time to go within and do some inner work. (Thank goodness for my Manifest Bliss monthly membership). I learned so much from not allowing the women in my tribe complain and whine about life. Why? Because when we finally understand that emotions just need to be processed within and expressed healthily, we can actually then DO SOMETHING to improve and enhance our life…we will up-level and rise so much faster.

Make your energy expensive by not tolerating drama anymore. By focusing on your self, inner growth, emotional intelligence and stability. You will flourish and thrive so much faster and the next thing you know, people will be having to ask to pay you for your time and energy.

Lesson #4. You don’t need pounds of makeup when your skin glows.

Ladies. I’ve never been much of a make up person, just a little eyeliner, mascara and gloss and I’m done. But for some reason everywhere you look women are covered in layers of professional looking makeup. No judgement at all, to each their own. I always admire the way makeup can make you look these days. However, I bought this LED mirror for my vanity, so I could start learning how to do better makeup on myself. I watched so many tutorials and bought so many products. Honestly, it felt like a waste of time. I hated the way packed on makeup makes me look.

So, because my new mirror shows every single skin flaw, I decided to focus more on my skin, instead of make up and everything changed for me! Instead of focusing on the outer beauty aspect, my work has been a complete focus on my inner health, my gut, my stress levels, supplements…..my daily green smoothie is just the start of my obsession with making sure my skin glows. But the big lesson for me was, don’t worry about looking like all the girls with the fancy makeup…..be the woman who looks and feels good when the makeup comes off!

Speaking of skin care, this Indie Lee COQ10 Toner is literally my favorite thing on the planet right now. I bring it to the gym for after my workout, I use it after I wash my face or literally anytime I just want to feel refreshed. It’s incredible and it has so many benefits for your skin. Trust me, you need this in your life.

Lesson #5. Always set a higher standard for yourself.

This kind of goes back to lesson #3. It is a waste of your life to not grow, thrive, flourish, become better, evolve and change. Do not get stuck on the way things used to be or how you have always done things. Every single day we learn something new and I have seen so often just how many women stay in the same ruts over and over again, in the same miserable relationship, gaining 10 lbs and losing 10 lbs, miserable job after miserable job, etc.

Just because you get older doesn’t mean you can’t get better. And just because you let something go, doesn’t mean you will never get something better for you to come in next.

My personal favorite mantra is “it gets to keep getting better and better”. Come from the mindset of everything in your life gets to get better the next time and watch how much more free your life becomes. Watch how much stress stays out of your life. Don’t box yourself into personal limitations in which you can’t surpass yourself.

Can your body get better even at an older age? Oh yes it can!

Can your bank account get bigger even though you want to work less? Yes! It can, I am proof.

Can your relationships get better even when they hit rock bottom? YESSSS!

Can your life get better even if you have to start all over again? OF COURSE!

You get to always get better and you get to always thrive and grow and become more bad ass!

I drank a green smoothie every morning for 21 days, Here's What Happened

I think this post should honestly be titled, “the life changing magic of having a daily green smoothie” because that is actually how it feels to me.

I cannot express the love I have for my green smoothies enough, so I decided to come out of hiding and write a blog post about it. It feels like it has been forever since I have blogged. If you follow me on instagram, then you have probably seen my obsession with my morning green smoothie.

Back in July, I started doing some deeper inner work than I ever had before, I’ve studied feminine energy, womb healing and so many interesting spiritual methods for the girls in my community, the Manifestation Queen Collective. There is nothing more that I love that learning, applying what I’ve learned and then sharing the best of what I learn.

As I dove more into feminine energy, I began to get really attuned to what I was eating and how it affected my body. I went through a series of experiments that focused on my food intake. Long story short, my body is allergic to corn and a few other things so I changed up my diet immediately.

One of the things I noticed was that I always felt fantastic after having a morning green smoothie. It’s actually a specific smoothie from my favorite place JuiceLand and every time I had one, my body felt incredible. I’ve tried lots green smoothies over the years, the glowing goddess smoothie being one of my favorites but I just always felt hungry after I drank it.

So, I had to figure out what was in that JuiceLand smoothie and I wanted to have it more in my life. This was also a time when I was up-leveling my inner work, feminine energy immersion journey and learned about the importance of commitment and how it builds inner trust. During that time, I was making commitments to anything and everything and so the morning green smoothie became my new addiction. My new non-negotiable habit. It is the MAIN thing that I never miss. Every. Single. Morning.

Over the Summer, I lost a little over 20 lbs seemingly almost effortlessly. No big diet. No hardcore working out. No gimmick weight loss tea or pill (I dish all the things, tips and tricks on this episode of my podcast). I believe my morning green smoothie was a big part of that body transformation for me. And i’ll give you a few reasons why……

  1. With the stability of my morning smoothie, I felt fully satisfied all morning and never crashed or felt starving for lunch. I feel that it helped me and my nervous system not experience stress or have a ravenous hunger attack. I just felt like the recipe gave me all the nutrients, nourishment and stamina I needed for my busy morning routine and by the time the next meal comes around…I just feel good.

  2. Making personal commitments is a game changer. Having something that you decide to do every day and stick to, is the fastest move of self confidence that I have ever experienced. If you’ve ever made a commitment to something like not drinking for 30 days or some kind of diet and then slipped, you know what I mean. No matter how much grace you give yourself, its like you know you didn’t do what you really wanted to do. But, when you finish and you do it…….HOLY SHIT you feel fantastic. You begin trust yourself more, you feel good about yourself and who you are. It is hands down one of the fastest ways to build personal confidence.

  3. Greens heal the heart chakra. You guys know I am obsessed with living in alignment with my chakras. Foods are a great way to ensure that your body your chakras are balanced and energetically flowing. Green is the color of the heart chakra and having my daily dose of intentional greens always keeps my heart chakra open. When I attend my chakra meditation class and the teacher checks your chakras, my heart is always open and I just know it is because of my green smoothies. The heart chakra deals with love, self love, compassion, understanding, etc.

  4. All of the incredible health benefits. The improved digestion, skin glow up, body slimming, mental health, mood….all of the things come to you as a result of drinking greens daily. See the cute capture I made below of the 7 major benefits of drinking a daily green smoothie.

HERE IS MY GREEN SMOOTHIE RECIPE

Now I know you have all been waiting for the recipe, because I have gotten soooo many DM’s about it. I wanted to write this post to give you each ingredient specifically so you can recreate it at home exactly how I do.

  • First, I use this Vitamix blender. Honestly, regular blenders just don’t cut it for me, I need my smoothie fully mixed and blended.

  • I add a cup of ice cubes and almost 1.5 to 2 cups of almond milk. I kinda just eye it at this point.

  • Then I add a mix of baby Spinach and kale. I’ve heard that you need to rotate your greens every few weeks so your body doesn’t get used to one kind of green. You want to keep it guessing.

  • I add an entire banana. Everyone says just use half, but I like the entire thing.

  • I prefer Vanilla proteins, I alternate between this one and this one.

  • Then, I top it off with Justin’s peanut butter. I do a small scoop, size. of a teaspoon. This makes the smoothie so delicious in my opinion.

***every once and a while I will add blueberries or a little collagen powder (I’ve gotten samples of a few, haven’t found one I love).

This recipe is THE BEST. It is completely satisfying, filling and makes me feel like a glowy goddess.
