Morning Rituals: 6 healthy wellness habits you should do every single morning

Mornings. For me, the morning is the most important part of the day. Something I have learned over the years is that how you spend your mornings, determines how the rest of the day plays out.

If I force myself to wake up early, fight my natural bodies rhythm, I wake up feeling forced (very masculine energy based). However, when I am intentional about preparing myself for a morning routine that feels good, I bring an energy that impacts my entire day.

When you create routines, habits and rituals, you can set your days up with purpose and intention that will lead to a blissful life. It is a non-negotiable for me and I refuse to skimp out on my morning routine. So, I thought I would write a blog post, to accompany my most recent podcast episode (you can listen to the episode here).

HOW I PREPARE FOR MY MORNING RITUALS:

I get myself ready for my morning the evening before. Sometimes, when I need some good rest, I drink my hot Calm magnesium drink to help me to fall asleep faster. I also keep blue light glasses with me at night when I am watching tv, on my laptop or my phone before bed. When you are staring at blue light at night, it tricks your mind/body into thinking that it is daytime and messes up your natural circadian rhythm. I also make sure I get good sleep by investing in good bedding and wearing comfortable pajamas.



6 habits I do every single morning and why:

01 | Hydration.

The minute I wake up, I brush my teeth. That’s just a natural instinct. And then I go directly to the kitchen and make myself this electrolyte enhanced water drink. There are a lot of morning powder drinks I have loved over the years but so far, this one takes the cake. It’s NOT an energy drink, its just a drink that is specifically made for hydration. It has so many vitamins that are good for the body, magnesium, potassium, zinc, etc.

I used to wake up and go straight for the coffee but I decided to switch it up and make sure I get my hydration in first and then have my coffee. I’ve found that I actually consume less coffee and have more overall energy throughout the day. It’s been an incredibly significant shift in how my days go. I love this stuff.

02 | Set intentions for the day

After I do all of my morning hydration, I head over to my altar and light one of my Blissful Living Ritual candles so I can set my intention for the day. Intention setting is key for me in the mornings, it just helps me to focus my brain on what I want to create for the day. Often, it will be a sales goal or sometimes, it may just be to have more calm. It really doesn’t matter what intention you set, the most important thing is that you put your attention and focus on what it is that you want to create and manifest.

In Feng Shui, lighting a candle is activating. It’s sparking a fire to you goal or intention and the energy of fire is activating. So, I have always been a fan of lighting candles as a way of manifesting what you want. It’s a full mind/body/spirit ritual.

03 | Morning journaling

Then, I get right into my journal. Journaling for me is everything. You can read more about my experience journaling here and here. I am a huge fan of the morning pages, free writing for 3 pages straight. Sometimes I will write 6 pages because there is just so much to get out of my head. I believe so much in the importance of decluttering the mind first thing in the morning before you begin your day. It just helps so much so that you are able to use your mind to be mindful and present, not in overthinking and future tripping.

04 | Dress up for your dreams

Dress up for the life you want to attract. If I could tell you to do ONE thing in the morning that would completely change your life, it would be this. Getting ready every single morning is a way of telling the Universe you are ready for your best life. When I wake up a mess, get lazy around getting ready, it impacts my whole day. I don’t feel as inspired to do all of the things I want to do because I just don’t feel it.

However, when I spend my morning intentionally, put on a cute outfit, do my hair and makeup, put on my jewelry and put myself together I feel ready for ANYTHING that comes my way. It’s what I call “dressing up for your dreams” because the Universe is more likely to bring you opportunities when you are out there in your radiant light and magnetism.

When you are moving around feeling dumpy, not proud of yourself, hiding your light…you aren’t in your feminine magnetism which is your power of attraction! This for me, is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your life.

05 | Get in your daily greens

A green smoothie or green chlorophyl. Back in July of 2021, I began making my green smoothie recipe every morning and it completely changed me and my body. I get my nutrients in and feel full by the time I have my smoothie because I’ve had so much hydration and filled myself up with things that are healthy and good for me.

06 | Make the bed like a hotel

I make my bed, every single morning. And I do not miss a day. Well, every so often I do miss a day and boy can I feel the difference. My grandmother really pressed this ritual into me. She taught me how to make a bed perfectly so that I would feel organized, calm and able to focus on the day. And when you get back into bed for the evening, its a beautiful experience.

Studies have shown that a cluttered, messy home impacts your focus, attention span, sleep habits and more. So when you can do one small thing to make your home feel more tidy, put together and organized you are doing it as a gift to your mind and your overall well being. It will set you up for a beautiful, powerful day.

5 Lessons I learned in 2021...

As we move closer and closer to 2022, I’ve been spending a lot of time in reflection about this last year. My 40th year was pretty wild, I’ve been thinking about what I learned, how I grew and what I want to leave behind with 2021. If there is one thing I have learned is that I love to look at everything as a lesson, like what did this teach me or what did I gain from experiencing that. For me, it just makes life that much more fun and memorable. I believe it is so important to romanticize life and to make every second matter. So, here we go….here are a few of my favorite lessons…..

Lesson #1. Creating and cultivating a strong Morning routine is essential.

….and I mean essential. I have always loved rituals being a part of my day and as a Capricorn it is pretty easy for me to stick with a consistent routine but this year, I outdid myself. About mid-year, I had this epiphany where I found myself saying “I just would like that amount of money to be like, committed to me”! And I just knew that if I wanted to manifest a consistent, committed income in my business, I had to become someone who was fully COMMITTED! So, as I do, I decided to create some commitments that I would stick to.

For me, it was my morning routine. Every single morning, I decided to start doing Morning Pages as my journal routine, I would walk in the gym for 25 minutes, have a green smoothie, make my bed and take my vitamins. Every single damn day. And I did NOT miss one day. In fact, I still have not missed a day and I have added on a few more things to my list.

The thing about it is that after my morning routine, I already feel like I have accomplished so much. I noticed I just would feel so much more confident than I had ever before in my business. For years, I would wake up and almost immediately begin working and I would work all day long. Now that I prioritize myself and my morning, my life feels happier, more full and honestly, I make more money than I ever have.

In the morning, I always check off the routine on my list. There is just something so gratifying about that moment when I know I have showed up for myself all the way. For 2022, I’ve decided to do it with a Hot Pink Neon Filofax, it literally is so pretty and bright. I haven’t even opened it yet and I am already ready to make some lists and check things off.

Lesson #2. We aren’t here to follow rules.

Supposed rules are the worst. And the funny thing is, we actually are always making up our own rules based on what we see around us. I’ve learned that social media, society, reality tv…all of it, are just programming us with rules. This year, I became a hat person and before that I wouldn’t allow myself to wear hats because I kind of always thought they were too “trendy millennial” for my style. But one day, I just decided to throw on this pink fedora style hat and honestly I loved it. It covered up my gray roots and made my outfit pop. All of a sudden, I bought a few more hats to wear because I enjoyed the experience so much. I love my new hats so much, I even created a little hat wall that I am now obsessed with.

It was in that moment that I decided to be a rule breaker. Even if that meant breaking my own rules that I just made up in my head.

Lesson #3. Make your energy expensive.

Oooooooh weeeeeeee. This was a major lesson for me this year and one I have really learned how to teach to my goddess coaching clients. The amount of people and things I used to give my energy and focus to was exhausting. As an empath, I always take on the emotions of other people, I can literally feel what they are going through. So, I always felt I was the BEST person someone could be around when they were going through it. I am always available for those who need me, I am a really good friend/daughter/sister/etc. Well, let me tell you, that investment does not always work out for your benefit, it does not enhance your life to allow people to suck your energy.

And on the flip side, you do yourself a disservice when you count on other people to get you through your own drama/bs. A friend who will let you vent/complain/whine for hours on end isn’t actually doing you a favor. I went through some really crazy life changes this year and looking back I could have saved a LOT of wasted time and energy just taking out some solo time to go within and do some inner work. (Thank goodness for my Manifest Bliss monthly membership). I learned so much from not allowing the women in my tribe complain and whine about life. Why? Because when we finally understand that emotions just need to be processed within and expressed healthily, we can actually then DO SOMETHING to improve and enhance our life…we will up-level and rise so much faster.

Make your energy expensive by not tolerating drama anymore. By focusing on your self, inner growth, emotional intelligence and stability. You will flourish and thrive so much faster and the next thing you know, people will be having to ask to pay you for your time and energy.

Lesson #4. You don’t need pounds of makeup when your skin glows.

Ladies. I’ve never been much of a make up person, just a little eyeliner, mascara and gloss and I’m done. But for some reason everywhere you look women are covered in layers of professional looking makeup. No judgement at all, to each their own. I always admire the way makeup can make you look these days. However, I bought this LED mirror for my vanity, so I could start learning how to do better makeup on myself. I watched so many tutorials and bought so many products. Honestly, it felt like a waste of time. I hated the way packed on makeup makes me look.

So, because my new mirror shows every single skin flaw, I decided to focus more on my skin, instead of make up and everything changed for me! Instead of focusing on the outer beauty aspect, my work has been a complete focus on my inner health, my gut, my stress levels, supplements…..my daily green smoothie is just the start of my obsession with making sure my skin glows. But the big lesson for me was, don’t worry about looking like all the girls with the fancy makeup…..be the woman who looks and feels good when the makeup comes off!

Speaking of skin care, this Indie Lee COQ10 Toner is literally my favorite thing on the planet right now. I bring it to the gym for after my workout, I use it after I wash my face or literally anytime I just want to feel refreshed. It’s incredible and it has so many benefits for your skin. Trust me, you need this in your life.

Lesson #5. Always set a higher standard for yourself.

This kind of goes back to lesson #3. It is a waste of your life to not grow, thrive, flourish, become better, evolve and change. Do not get stuck on the way things used to be or how you have always done things. Every single day we learn something new and I have seen so often just how many women stay in the same ruts over and over again, in the same miserable relationship, gaining 10 lbs and losing 10 lbs, miserable job after miserable job, etc.

Just because you get older doesn’t mean you can’t get better. And just because you let something go, doesn’t mean you will never get something better for you to come in next.

My personal favorite mantra is “it gets to keep getting better and better”. Come from the mindset of everything in your life gets to get better the next time and watch how much more free your life becomes. Watch how much stress stays out of your life. Don’t box yourself into personal limitations in which you can’t surpass yourself.

Can your body get better even at an older age? Oh yes it can!

Can your bank account get bigger even though you want to work less? Yes! It can, I am proof.

Can your relationships get better even when they hit rock bottom? YESSSS!

Can your life get better even if you have to start all over again? OF COURSE!

You get to always get better and you get to always thrive and grow and become more bad ass!
