Jean Louis Deniot: the tempo of gold

It's absolutely no secret that I love gold. While most people prefer silver, I just can't get enough of the yellow hued metallic. It makes me so very happy. When I see an interior done well in gold, I'm in love. One of the gold masters is Jean Louis Deniot, a very popular French designer. He's sort of like the Euro version of Kelly Wearstler, although not as whimsical, he keeps things more classic and refined. His use of grey and gold together is always one that takes things to the next level. Here in this spread from Italian AD May 2014, his brilliance is showcased perfectly. 

One detail I just am dying over...the mirrored insets in the bathroom vanity. Genius!

the makings of a mirrored wall

My dining room area is quickly becoming my favorite room in my space. I love the black and white going on, especially with the stripes. I'm working on finding new light fixtures for this area because these are just wrong (too modern). The best part of this area, is this little inset on the back wall, that I decided to make into a mirrored wall. I've always been obsessed with the antique mirror tiled wall look like this dining room...

I think it adds so much more vibrance and movement to the place. I also am a strong believer in the more mirrors, the better. My mirrors are from IKEA and sold in packs of 4 that stick up to the wall so its easy for rentals. It's starting to look so glam, but I really want to create that antique mirrored look for richness. I've been looking up ways to create this look myself easily and without chemicals and I found this one. I can't decide whether it looks better to have just the plain mirror or antiqued mirror?
