Medallion mixes...

I get emails from readers constantly about decorating advice for how to make their place look like pictures in the magazines. It's not as easy as it looks but one thing I do try to remind everyone is that it isn't just about the designs, nice furniture and fabrics and accessories. The details are everything! One detail in particular I LOVE to influence people to use is the ceiling medallion. It will enhance the look of a room instantly and it will make your light look that much more glamorous.

This is absolutely one of my favorite light fixtures from Arteriors and the light is just enhanced by the medallion paired with it. It is just a very attractive combination and I feel like people overlook this small detail. I was in a boutique the other day and this very same chandelier was used with no medallion and it just didn't sing. It should have.

weekend decorating idea: just add fireplace

The weather has just been so delightful. I love the crispness of fall, throwing on boots and a jacket. it's so very chic. i also love getting cozy next to a beautiful fire with some tea in the evenings. Although, its hard to do when you don't have a fireplace. Right now, I am all about the faux fireplace. Throw in a ton of candles and there you have a beautiful faux fire which is a little bit more elegant looking, anyway, there is just something about candle light I love! So, if you are like me and renting a place without a fireplace, why not just get a fireplace mantle? This will totally get your home ready for the holidays. Did you see this fab bedroom on the ORC yesterday? I love what Jessie did with this faux fireplace in the bedroom. I love the French look of it, makes me want one in my bedroom!

Abigail Ahern has one that I also love, I love how dark and dramatic she designed it. 

Now this one isn't that same look but its just the same amount of chicness. I'm thinking of getting one of these, painting it in white or black and then get some pillar candles to light. Then I can just sit back, relax and enjoy the weekend...
