Feminine Energy Practice: How to use journaling to awaken & align with your inner goddess

ashlina kaposta December 13, 2022

Want to learn how to get started journaling? You’re in the right place. This post will teach you how to use journaling to awaken your divine feminine energy.

One of the most commonly asked questions I get is “I’m having trouble with journaling, can you share your tips?”. Which always surprises me because I sort of thought that everyone was on the journaling bandwagon. Ever since I was a little girl, I was obsessed with journaling, in fact, I recently came across a small diary I had as a child. It has a cute little lock and key. I’ve always loved a fabulous little pen and chic little private book to write down all my thoughts. So, it has always been my assumption that every girl just loves to write in her diary.

What you may not know, is that as much of a journaling addict I am, it isn’t always that easy for me. However, there have been periods where I felt absolutely allergic to journaling. I would sit there with my beautiful journal, a brand new blank page, a full coffee mug in the morning and absolutely nothing would come out. I often felt that I just had nothing to say. So, I would close my journal and just go about my day.

Then, several days later, I would find myself in a funk, overwhelmed, frustrated or in a confused state of mind. I’d go through phases like this every so often. I eventually realized, when I am not journaling, I am not doing the inner work. I’m not doing the inner healing that is available and necessary for my inner peace.

I found that most often, when I would avoid journaling, it was because I was avoiding facing the truth about something going on in my life. Instead of looking at it, it became easier to just distract myself and move on from the situation. Eventually, the issue would come up in a more frustrating, stressful way.

The secret to my inner calm is doing the inner work in my journal.

A FEW TIPS TO HELP YOU START JOURNALING:

  • Use a guided journal. I have published 2 guided journals that support you by giving you journal prompts to work with. Using a guided journal makes it so much easier for you to come up with what to write.

Cultivating a divine feminine journaling practice can be a profoundly empowering and transformative journey. Here's a simple guide to get you started in five steps:

  1. Set Your Intention: Begin by setting a clear intention for your divine feminine journaling practice. Reflect on what you hope to gain from this practice—whether it's to deepen your connection with your inner goddess, to heal past wounds, or to embody qualities such as compassion, intuition, and creativity. Write down your intention in your journal, infusing it with heartfelt sincerity and purpose.

  2. Create Sacred Space: Find a quiet and comfortable space where you can retreat into the depths of your soul without distractions. Light a candle, burn some incense or sage, and adorn your space with crystals, flowers, or any other sacred objects that resonate with you. Invite the energy of the divine feminine to guide and support you on your journey inward.

  3. Set the Mood: Cultivate a mood of receptivity and openness as you prepare to journal. Take a few deep breaths to center yourself and ground your energy. You may wish to incorporate gentle movement, such as stretching or dancing, to awaken your body and align with the rhythms of the divine feminine. Allow yourself to surrender to the present moment and the wisdom that arises from within.

  4. Free-Flow Writing: Begin your journaling practice with free-flow writing, allowing your thoughts and feelings to flow onto the page without censorship or judgment. Write whatever comes to mind, whether it's reflections on your day, insights from your dreams, or messages from your inner goddess. Trust in the guidance of your intuition and let your pen be the vessel through which your divine feminine essence expresses itself.

  5. Reflect and Integrate: After journaling, take some time to reflect on what arose during your writing session. Notice any recurring themes, emotions, or intuitive nudges that emerged from the depths of your soul. Consider how you can integrate these insights into your daily life and embody the qualities of the divine feminine in your thoughts, words, and actions. End your practice with gratitude for the wisdom received and a sense of reverence for the sacred journey you are embarking upon.

Remember, there is no right or wrong way to engage in divine feminine journaling—simply trust in the process and allow your inner goddess to guide you on your path of self-discovery and empowerment.

Ways to use your journal:

💕 Use it as your bestie. The place where you can vent even your most private thoughts, fears or situations you just need to get out.

💕 Use it as a place to write down your goals, your dreams, the things you really want to manifest.

💕 As you free write in your journal, your subconscious mind and higher self are always going to speak through your writing. It happens as we just allow whatever to come up, come up. So this is a perfect space to allow your higher self speak to you. A connecting with the divine always occurs through journaling.

So, if you find yourself feeling frustrated at things going on in life. Go work it out inside your journal. Don’t avoid what is going on for you. Inside my online community, The House of Bliss: Manifest Bliss membership, you will receive PLENTY of journal prompts that will help you get specific in every area of your life that may need a bit of inner work and healing if you need support in that area. You can also grab the guided journals I have created, the Blissful Living Journal or The Daily Bliss.

6 BENEFITS OF DAILY JOURNALING

  1. Enhances communication skills. I found that the more I journaled, the better I got a communicating my thoughts clearly. When you write things out, it helps you process things through the writing, so that when you actually go speak to someone, you are more clear. If you ever find yourself fearful of asking for a raise or speaking your truth to someone, write it out first and it will help you feel more confident and assured.

  2. Improves your sleep. One of my favorite things to do is journal right before bed. When you do this, you declutter your mind of all the things going on competing for your attention. When your mind isn’t working overtime trying to keep all the things together, it can relax and will allow your body to sleep better. Your posture will also relax, your body will become more loose and so you will find it easier to sleep deeply.

  3. Helps you with weight loss. This might surprise you but when you are releasing all of your pent up emotions and thoughts onto paper, you lower your cortisol (the stress hormone). Long story short, cortisol holds onto fat for comfort. So when you are releasing your emotions in a safe and healthy way, your body feels safe to burn fat. (This alone would have me journal, too).

  4. Builds your intuition muscle. One of my favorite things to do is activating my intuition through journaling. The best thing to do is using guided journal prompts that have you really stumped. When you have a hard time answering something, you stop the overthinking and take a few deep breaths. Write out the first words that come to your mind and that is usually your gut speaking to you. The slow, soft answer is usually your intuition coming forth. Keep journaling those thoughts and things out and it helps to amplify the volume level of your intuition.

  5. Improves your problem solving skills. Many times I use my journal as a way to work out decisions. I will make a list of pros and cons of a situation to map it all out in my mind. If I am finding myself confused on a work thing, I will map out my entire plan or strategy and see what makes the most sense and feels like it would go the most smoothly. The journal becomes a total support system for your most pressing situations.

  6. It activates your inner goddess. When you activate your chakra system, your spiritual energy centers, you activate your shakti energy. Shakti is your goddess energy. When your goddess energy is flowing, you feel alive, vibrant and full of healthy, happy energy. You can use your journal as a place to let out anything blocking your chakras & work through your emotional energetic set points. (Podcast episode on this coming soon). When you release inner beliefs and thoughts blocking your chakras, you open up your ability to flow into your goddess consciousness and you will be awakened into this state if done correctly.

🌹 Start by just practicing writing down your thoughts in your journal. I teach a lot about feminine energy and how important it is to be able to articulate how you feel. Practice writing down how you feel, what your body is telling you and what you may be needing in the current moment.

Try to do this for at least 5 minutes a day for a week. Pay attention to any shifts you may begin to experience .

7 signs you may struggle with self-sabotage and how to overcome them

ashlina kaposta December 12, 2022

This post is all about how to overcome self-sabotage.

I have been in major reflection mode. And one of the things I did that I find was extremely beneficial, was set some time aside to go through the photos app on my phone. I scrolled through each month to take a look at what was a major lesson or takeaway I learned that month. What was I going through? How did I handle it? This exercise has been incredibly insightful, in fact I highly suggest you doing it.

Several years ago, I took a workshop on personal growth and one of the things I realized about myself was that I had a tendency to self-sabotage in different areas of my life.

What does it mean to self-sabotage? Self-sabotage is when people do (or don't do) things that block their success or prevent them from accomplishing their goals. It can happen consciously or unconsciously.

In the past, I would completely allow myself to procrastinate on projects, especially things like my taxes. Sometimes, I wouldn’t know how to communicate properly that I needed support, so I’d take everything on all by myself and then end up getting nowhere. At times, I would walk away from opportunities, friendships or relationships that I didn’t have the energy to speak a boundary to or ask for what my needs were at the time. I’d also pack my schedule with events, classes and engagements and then I would end up “too busy” to manage, organize or tackle things that I needed to get done.

When I first learned how sneaky self-sabotage could be, I was floored.

Then there was that final moment when I learned to end my relationship with self-sabotage once and for all. One morning as I was creating content for my podcast, I took a glance over at my long list of episode ideas and I froze. My mind was spinning from overwhelm and I just ended up not recording anything.

I love that life is an ever evolving, expanding experience of growth.

So, when I started to implement some tools that I learned from that workshop, I learned how to take back the control in my focus and powerfully move the needle forward on what I was working on.

And if there are ever signs I’m getting close to that again, I know exactly what tools I needed to put in place to course correct myself and my life. (this is why I created my program Soul Aligned Success: 21-days of shifts to overcome self-sabotage)

7 signs you may struggle with self-sabotage

  1. You are ‘too busy’ to figure out how to manage your time in a better way. I literally had to start completely taking the phrase ‘too busy’ out of my vocabulary. That phrase can seriously get you in to some trouble, with yourself. How would you feel if a loved one told you that they were ‘too busy’ for you? How would that feel?

Well, if you are ‘too busy’ to make time for the things that are a priority for you and what you want to create in your life…being ‘too busy’ for yourself is the ultimate for of self abandonment and ultimately will move you into self-sabotage. Because if you are abandoning yourself, you won’t build or cultivate trust in yourself. And you will never be able to move forward with your life if you don’t trust yourself.

  2. You don’t ask for help when you need it. So, often, especially as women, we think we are too much. We think our needs are too much. We think if we ask for help, we might be a burden. For some reason, we believe that if we aren’t superwoman, we aren’t good enough or we somehow aren’t worthy.

Well, girlfriend, this is holding you back in your life. There is nothing wrong for asking for support. In fact, for a lot of people who have so much time, love and energy to give…they need people like you to ask. So they can give back to the world. Just think of it like one of those penny dishes. You take when you need and you give when you can. You are doing the world a favor when you communicate what you need support with.

  3. You procrastinate often. This one is pretty self-explanatory. Procrastination is a killer. The worst part is, procrastination is often fueled by the focus on perfectionism. When we are chasing the idea of perfection, we can all too easily get caught up in it that the self-sabotaging mechanism in our mind can actually search for ways to procrastinate on things.

Try setting some boundaries on yourself and your calendar so when you feel the need to procrastinate something, you’ve already scheduled time for it into your calendar. For example, you want to lose weight and you’ll start working out on Monday, but Monday turns into Friday and then the next Monday. Get that workout booked into your calendar so you don’t miss that date with yourself.

  4. You hold yourself back because of fear or imposter syndrome. omg. How many times have you watched a girlfriend not take a risk or do what you know she is capable of because she gave into fear? Or even worse, imposter syndrome, aka not feeling good enough for whatever that thing is?

The worst part is, there really is almost nothing you can say to someone to pull them out of this type of self-sabotage. However, now that you know that this could very well be something you are doing to yourself, you might be able to stop it. Always look at things through the perspective that fear could be in the drivers seat. It’s a good rule of thumb to observe first, react second.

  5. You start multiple projects but have a hard time completing them. One of my friends was really the queen of this. She would always come up with really fun ideas, good business plans and cool things to orchestrate. Everyone just loved that about her, she had the enthusiasm of a high school cheerleader, we all would get behind whatever she was up to. One time, she got her husband to invest $1500 to start a business and once she received all of the set up tools and supplies, they sat in her garage for months. That happened more times than I can count over the years and eventually, it ended up becoming a big problem in her marriage.

Things like this may not seem that bad but when you have trouble finishing what you start, it is a sign that somewhere, deep down, you don’t trust yourself and/or you are majorly afraid of your own success.

  6. You end or push pause on relationships when they get a little too serious. Or you might even avoid relationships or friendships when they become tense or when you might have to be vulnerable and communicate. Sometimes, its just easier to not rock the boat and to just be distant so you can avoid confrontation. When you avoid the rocky moments in these relationships, you are only avoiding yourself. And you’re avoiding a deep part of you that needs to be healed or seen or heard.

So when you do this avoiding, you put off the lesson or the growth that you could potentially do now. Then you may find yourself circling back to the same lessons over and over again. Because you weren’t willing to face what was being put right in front of you.

Just remember, relationships are only mirrors of what needs to be seen within us. So try and be open to any and all growth. It will change your life.

  7. You tell yourself that you don’t need to take a break and rest or you feel guilty when you do. A few months ago, I was pushing my own limits. I felt like I was on the verge of complete burnout. Luckily, I know how to bring myself back to balance. However, most of us feel so guilty when we rest or take a personal day, especially as moms and women who work for ourselves. We beat ourselves up for feeling scared, stressed, tired, anxious and just needing some time with ourselves to recalibrate. Taking a break to engage in unhealthy behavior is one thing but taking some time to attend to your mental and personal health is not just selfish but incredibly essential.

The ethos of my brand and business has always been about creating and balanced and blissful life, it may not always look, feel or be perfect. But it is always about taking care of yourself, mind, body, soul and home because your life and the lives of those around you depends on that.

Hopefully these 7 signs have inspired you to being more mindful of your habits as you look back on 2022. Self-sabotage doesn’t have to be something you struggle with forever. Like many other things, the first step is always awareness.

A few things to ask yourself…

💕 What is something you wish you had or hadn’t done this year that keeps replaying in your mind?

💕 If you could go back to one thing this year and do it differently, what would that be?

💕 What is something you know you should be more intentional about? How will you start doing this more?

💕 What are, if any, habits that are more harmful to you than helpful? What can you do to break these?
