I'm a Capricorn, the ultimate note taker, front row sitting, ready to learn kinda gal. Nothing gets me more excited than learning something new. The other day I had a fantastic opportunity to attend a special women's conference here in Dallas about entrepreneurship, faith and accomplishing your goals. My fabulous mentor from NYC, Lynette Lewis invited to me to the conference where she spoke on entrepreneurship, building a personal brand & tips from her book. . .

I'm often reading, thinking over my notes, strategically organizing my office. If you are anything like me, you make vision boards and pay special attention to your dreams and goals. After the conference and spending some quality time with Lynette, I took stock of my notes and put them together for all of you.

You'll love these 4 goal energizing strategies I learned from Lynette's talk. Try incorporating these into your work life. . .

1) DREAM ON ALL CYLINDERS:

When one dream isn't working out they way you had hoped, put it to the side, find another dream and go for it. Sometimes we do all we can, but it just comes down to timing. We can't put our lives on hold just to try to make one thing work in one way. Continue to stir up all of your dreams and at the right time, the right dreams will naturally flow into fruition.

2) REFUSE THE "LIES OF LOGIC":

Don't let qualifications or logical tactics discourage you. Just because you don't have a business degree from Harvard doesn't mean you can't be qualified to start your own business. We all have unique perspectives and something to offer the world. Be brave to challenge the status quo.

3) GET MOVING WITH THE 1-1-1 STRATEGY: 1 step. 1 dream. 1 X a week.

"A dream in motion attracts provision" Don't overwhelm yourself by needing to accomplish your goal to perfection all at once. Try planning 1 step toward 1 of your goals 1 time a week and just get your dream into motion. Get to talking about it and then the magic of the universe will get the hint and help you out.

4) FIND YOUR DREAM TEAM:

Be strategic in who your spending your time with. Make sure you find people who are also dream builders and will help you dream your dreams. You'll need people to help keep you accountable and pick you up when you get discouraged. This is where hiring a mentor is a strategic and super effective move.
I love my mentor. She's so much fun, loves fashion + decorating, loves God with all of her heart, has the savvy skills of being a #girlboss with grace, writes books so beautifully, gives seminars and talks that send chills down your spine and brings tears to your eyes, AND she has the biggest heart for women reaching their goals and accomplishing dreams.

Her book is full of practical tools to help you accomplish any goal and I am lucky enough to get first hand advice and tips of encouragement from her personally. Now you can see why I was brilliant in choosing her. The best part about the whole thing is that when I am feeling discouraged or sort of lost in that "what do I do next" mind trap. She knows just what to say to me, because she has been there, she totally gets it.

Being in business for yourself isn't the easiest journey but having a mentor helps you in not having to learn mistakes on your own and be one step ahead of yourself. Who would want that?!

A few helpful tips for finding a mentor. . .

*Look at companies, websites, or people that you admire, contact them and ask about mentorship opportunities.
*Attend events, seminars and get to networking with groups of people who do what you want to do. Ask for business cards and give yours. Reach out with a friendly email asking about mentorship. I met Lynette at one of her lectures in NYC
*Look into business coaching. There are a ton of coaches in different fields all over the internet. I offer business coaching and personal mentoring sessions and I hire them too! I have my mentors in interior design, life coaching, fitness + nutrition coaching, I hired a book writing coach, etc. It's important to train your brain, in the same way you train your body + muscles. Do you research. Find the right mentor for your dream and see your dreams come to life.
