Can you believe it's already Aquarius season!? The first month of the new year is halfway over and it’s time to leave behind the traditional Capricorn energy and shake things up in our lives with the eccentric and eclectic energy of Aquarius. Aquarius is the 11th sign of the zodiac and is often mistaken for a water sign when it is in fact an air sign. Understandable since the symbol of Aquarius is the water bearer and "Aqua" is in the name! Aquarians are all about intellectual conversations, expressing their individuality and collecting acquaintances. And you too can channel your inner Aquarius by decorating your home for Aquarius season.

Aquarius Season Tip #1: Be Unique

Aquarians are known for being eclectic and marching to the beat of their own drum. These people are not followers. In fact, they are an enigma, constantly swinging back and forth between being social and a loner. The best way to embody the style of an Aquarius is to find a unique piece for your home that no one else has. Even better if there is a cool story behind it. Get to thrifting! Something collectable like a Moroccan wedding blanket would be a perfect accent.

Aquarius Season Tip #2: Create an open space

Aquarius is the last air sign of the zodiac and all three air signs live for great conversations and the exchange of intellectual ideas. The best way to encourage this at home is to create a nice open space in your living room that encourages conversation, vs. TV watching. Place ottomans in front of or on the side of the couch and mix those with a comfortable chair. You'll create a living area that people feel so comfortable in that they won't want to leave.

Aquarius Season Tip #3: Change things up...constantly

Aquarius is ruled by the planet of unexpected change, Uranus and although it is a fixed sign, meaning they are stuck in their ways, they do like variety. So just like you would change your wardrobe for the season, switch out your decor with a new comforter, pillows, throws and/or even photos. It will keep things interesting in your home and it's a much cheaper way to bring in newness without remodeling or moving.

Aquarius Season Tip #4: Bring in the element of water

Aquarius' symbol is the water bearer which demonstrates this sign purifying through the use of water or the pouring of intellectual ideas. The use of water in your space doesn't have to be literal. So don't rush out and get a huge fish tank! It can simply be the incorporation of different hues of blues, a small fountain, a picture of water or even a clear glass vase that you use for your fresh flowers.

Aquarius Season Tip #5: Get mystical

A fun fact about Aquarius is that it's the sign of Astrology. Scorpio and Pisces are usually associated with all things mystical from a spiritual aspect but Aquarians are also associated with more taboo subjects because they are probably the most open minded people in the zodiac. Of course not all Aquarians believe in astrology or other mystical subjects but many will be open to learning about them. One easy move in getting into pink salt lamps. Even if you don't read it, it's a great conversation starter and Aquarians love that!
