Weekend decorating idea: create a canopy bed

With this winter weather, there is nothing better than being in bed under the warm blankets and this weekend, I'm hoping to spend late mornings doing just that. I've been feeling like my bed needs a little more attention, to make it that much more dramatic. I'm pretty much obsessed with period films and I've noticed that most of the beds have such dramatic canopies. I've also noticed that some of my favorite designers use them in bedrooms too. Killer color combo: black, white, pale pink + grey

Blush pink is one of those colors that I think is so hard for people to use. It's "too feminine and girlie" but I actually find it incredibly chic. Have you ever seen a super polished man wearing a light pink tie? I see it in NYC on men all the time and it just looks incredibly well put together. I think it all depends on how you wear or style the color. When it comes to home decor, I've found a color palate that works so well for this winter season and its black and white mixed with pale shades of pink and grey. I am just in love with the look, it takes away the seriousness that the high contrast look of black and white gives.
