Why you should continually redefine yourself & your business

The other day I was doing an interview for someone else’s podcast and she told me she grabbed some information from me from my About page. I realized that I hadn’t updated my bio in YEARS. Eeeek. It was actually so embarrassing.

Over the last several years of being an entrepreneur I have learned that if you don’t continue to grow, learn and evolve, you get stuck. That stuck-ness manifests itself in really unfortunate ways. Ideas feel blocked, I get lazy and bored, proper balance and time management goes out the window. It feels like something is missing and I always feel inclined to look outside of myself for the answer (shopping, drinking wine, gossiping with girlfriends, etc.) It’s no way to live.

What I have come to learn is that if we put ourselves in a place where we are always open to being in a state of growth, expansion, moving forward, letting go and shifting to our next level, its like a fresh new wave of energy comes over you. (I speak more about this in Episode No. 39 of the podcast)

In the last year, (can you believe we are 6 months in?) I have fully allowed myself to become more of who my soul wants to be and less of who I think everyone wants or needs me to be. Everyone around me has been asking, “what is going on with you, everything seems to just be flowing to you?”

Just in the last three months, I have evolved in my career, changed up how I do things, grown in my heart and my confidence, learned new things, found new interests, embraced a new decor style at home, changed my look a bit. I gave myself permission to reinvent myself, little by little and the small shifts have made a TREMENDOUS impact on my life.

A few things you can do to reinvent yourself…..

+update your About page or the About Me section of any of your social media profiles. Speak from the heart.

+create a new personal motto or manifesto.

+implement some new rituals and stick to them, I share a few in the daily bliss toolkit.

+update something about your look, your style or your posture

+try a new class or join a new activity club

A few things you can do to reinvent your business…..

+update your business card, your LinkedIn profile, add more of your special interests, passions, etc.

+check in with your clients and see how you can be of better service or improve

+update your logo/website

+take a new course, learn a new skill

+try updating your workspace, style your work in a new way

+get some new work supplies

These are just a few simple ideas. I get that change can be scary but what if change is actually was meant for you. Outside of your comfort zone is the key to what you need next. It’s important that we are open to change.

GO WITHIN OR GO WITHOUT.

While we are opening ourselves up to change, we must remember that it’s important to take the time to go within before we make the change, to make sure it is in alignment with our soul. For example, if you don’t want to be a morning person, then pushing yourself to get up at 5:30 am because somebody told you it’s the right thing to do isn’t for you. Don’t do it.

Let’s say you want to make more money, lose weight, improve your relationships, heal your body, transform your mind, jumpstart your career….These things WILL improve when you allow yourself to REDEFINE the way you do life.

It’s of the utmost importance that you make sure that the things you do align with you. How to determine if it aligns with you? If it feels scary but good. If it feels scary but exciting. If it feels like scary but fun. You won’t have grappling anxiety about it if it is in alignment with what you are meant to do.

One of the best things I did for myself was invest in a coach who pushed me to evolve, who pushed me to work on my mindsets and TRANSFORM constantly.

I haven’t been the same since, and I am feeling more alive, vibrant and powerful than ever. Just ask Roman. ;)

Feng Shui: the mind blowing benefits of having oranges at home

Happy Sunday Darling.

I have a new obsession in my life so let’s discuss.

It’s probably a little random but if we were at brunch right now, here is exactly what I really would want to talk to you about: oranges.

I have recently become obsessed with oranges. Something about the smell of them in the home just makes me feel clean and blissful. I have been seeing them lately, everywhere, especially in photos displayed beautifully in chic vignettes. It’s almost as if I have been manifesting oranges. You know when you start looking at a new car and then all of a sudden, you begin seeing them everywhere.

That is exactly what is happening here. In all fairness, I have been working on my Money Mindset with my coach Amanda Frances and oranges go hand in hand with wealth (In Feng Shui) so it makes complete sense. Just yesterday I went to a beautiful hotel for a spa day and lo and behold, the water in the spa was filled with fresh oranges. It was absolutely delicious!

Naturally, I believe in keeping fresh foods and fruits in the kitchen at all times because it makes it easier to dive into them when they are sitting right in front of you. Not only are they extremely delicious, they have countless benefits for your health.

Benefits of eating oranges:

• High in Vitamin C.

• Gives a boost to your immune system.

• Prevents skin damage and brightens the skin.

• Controls blood sugar level & regulates blood pressure.

• Promotes hair growth and a healthy scalp.

It’s a funny thing, after I read Patricia’s book and found a new obsession for her bitter orange potpourri, I decided to dig a little deeper into orange scents. Because of my love for essential oils, I’ve known for a long time that citrus scents are very powerful at home.

A few drops of sweet orange oil in your diffuser will instantly uplift your energy & improve your mood (very helpful for working). Or you can put a few drops in your home cleansers and your kitchen will smell fresh and clean. Using skin care with vitamin C boosts your skins brightness instantly so I just love anything with orange in it. I personally use orange scented hand sanitizer for a little extra boost, too.

Let me give you a little back story: So, I’ve been on the hunt for coffee table decorating tips for moms with babies at home. It’s difficult to style the spaces around the home that aren’t hazardous or harmful to your little one. We slowly have gotten rid of everything on our coffee table because of this. Even the coasters have been an issue. So, how can a mom or anyone hosting people in their home with kids, do something chic and stylish but easy to remove once the kids are up and around again? Well, I figured it out. A BOWL OF FREAKING FRUIT. Specifically, a non-breakable bowl, think modern chic like a natural wood.

There is nothing that says home like a bowl of fruit, am I right???

Glam Shui Tip: 9 oranges in a bowl will pull in luck and prosperity directly into the energy or the “chi” of your living environment. Truth is, you can use any citrus like lemon or grapefruit. However, a little info I recently learned is that the word Mandarin in Chinese, sounds similar to the word, gold (wealth). So, the Chinese wisdom always suggests using oranges. Typically, the kitchen relates to the health of your home and oranges are cleansing and filled with nutrients. Don’t you want that for the energy of your home too?

I love Sundays. So I think I am going to make it a new Sunday ritual in my home to make a fresh fruit infused water. In a gorgeous glass pitcher. Especially now that the warm days of Summer are upon us. Keeping myself hydrated is key to a mindful lifestyle so with all of those health, beauty and wellness benefits, how can I not want orange infused water at home?

Just think of it, your children come home after a long, hot Summer day and you greet them with a nice, refreshing glass, or a friend pops by and has a taste, or you treat yourself Monday morning to a moment of orange infused water. Pure bliss if you ask me. This incredible blood orange infused water recipe is calling my name.

Remember, Creating specific rituals for your self and your family is a big act of self care. Be sure to pour loving intentions into the energy that you perform your rituals with.
