The 10 wellness benefits of rose essential oil.
There’s a reason roses have been symbols of beauty and love for centuries. Beyond their delicate petals and intoxicating fragrance, roses also carry powerful healing properties when distilled into oil. Rose oil is one of the most luxurious and versatile essential oils you can add to your beauty and wellness routine—and it’s been treasured since ancient times in Egypt, Persia, and Rome for its skin-soothing, heart-opening qualities.
For thousands of years the rose has been a very sacred symbol, the ancient Persian word for Rose means “spirit”.
I was recently on a trip to the Bahamas, a small little island that was absolutely gorgeous. However, we got bit to death. I mean, we are still itching from all of the bites on our legs. I googled it of course and found that Rose oil is a great remedy for healing bites on the skin, holistically.
I used my Doterra Rose oil stick and rubbed it right on all my bites. (i now carry this little stick everywhere with me) The next morning, they were gone! I had fully healed, no more itching, not the most annoying problem on the planet anymore. I love when that happens, when you find a new hack or discovery that makes you think “why haven’t i known about this?!?”
Then I began taking inventory of all my beauty products with Rose in it. The day I began using this Rose facial toner I became obsessed, I just love the way it feels and smells. I’ve also always loved rose in my hair care (the Pacifica Rose Water line is amazing), etc.
Anyway, basically if it has Rose essential oil in it, I will pretty much use it. Typically, anything with rose in it comes in pink packaging so that may initially have been the draw. Once I began researching more about the wellness benefits of Rose Oil, my addiction will not stop. I am on a mission to fill my life with Rose everything!
Whether you’re looking to brighten your skin, ease stress, or add a little romance to your self-care rituals, rose oil can do it all. Here’s a complete guide to the benefits of rose oil and why you may want to keep a bottle on your vanity.
10 BENEFITS OF USING ROSE ESSENTIAL OIL
🌹 1. Hydrates and Moisturizes Skin
Rose oil is naturally rich in emollients that help your skin retain moisture. If you struggle with dry or dehydrated skin, adding a few drops to your moisturizer can give your complexion a supple, dewy glow.
Pro tip: Mix 1–2 drops with a lightweight facial oil or cream and apply at night for deep hydration.
🌹 2. Calms Redness and Irritation
Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, rose oil can help soothe redness, eczema, or sensitive skin flare-ups. Its cooling effect makes it a gentle alternative for anyone who struggles with irritation from harsher products.
Science bit: Studies have shown that rose essential oil contains compounds like citronellol and geraniol, which calm skin and reduce inflammation.
🌹 3. Boosts Collagen and Elasticity
Rose oil is packed with antioxidants that fight free radicals—those unstable molecules that cause premature aging. By protecting the skin barrier, rose oil helps promote firmness and elasticity, making fine lines appear softer over time.
🌹 4. Helps Heal Scars and Blemishes
Thanks to its regenerative properties, rose oil can improve the appearance of scars, acne marks, and stretch marks. It encourages skin cell turnover, which helps skin look smoother and more even-toned.
🌹 5. Balances Oil Production
Whether your skin is oily, dry, or somewhere in between, rose oil helps balance sebum production. That means fewer breakouts for oily skin types and less flakiness for dry ones. It’s one of the rare oils that works beautifully for all skin types.
🌹 6. Eases Stress and Anxiety
The scent of roses isn’t just pretty—it has been shown to lower cortisol (the stress hormone) and promote feelings of calm. Diffusing rose oil or adding a drop to your wrists can instantly create a sense of relaxation.
Ritual idea: Add a few drops to your bath with Epsom salts for a luxurious spa-like soak that soothes both skin and soul.
🌹 7. Acts as a Natural Aphrodisiac
Rose oil has long been associated with love and intimacy. Its uplifting, romantic aroma helps open the heart chakra and encourages closeness. It’s perfect to diffuse before date night or to wear as a subtle perfume.
🌹 8. Supports Hair Health
Just like your skin, your scalp benefits from rose oil’s balancing and moisturizing properties. Adding a few drops to your hair mask can reduce dryness, flakiness, and even promote a healthier shine.

🌹 9. Strengthens the Immune System
Rose oil contains antiviral and antibacterial compounds that may help the body fight off infections. While it shouldn’t replace medical care, using rose oil in aromatherapy may support your body’s natural defenses.
🌹 10. Elevates Your Beauty Rituals
One of the simplest benefits of rose oil? It makes your beauty rituals feel instantly luxurious. Whether you’re massaging it into your skin, diffusing it in your home, or adding it to a warm bath, rose oil has the power to transform everyday moments into self-care rituals.
When you put a few drops of essential oil in your nighttime bath, the aroma of rose oil will lighten the anxious thoughts and in turn help you sleep better. This is especially helpful for women who are going through post-partum depression. When inhaled aromatically, rose enhances the limbic system which helps motivate you and calm your emotions.
HOW I USE ROSE OIL IN MY DAILY ROUTINE:
When I learned about all the benefits of rose oil, I began carrying my cute little Rose stick with me everywhere. I rub it on my wrists and neck if I feel any anxious thoughts or stress coming on.
I rub it at night on my hairline and on my forehead. I really like to get all the oil soaked in so it can do its magic while I sleep.
I put 4 drops of rose oil in my body lotion to moisturize my skin.
I put drops of rose oil directly on my feet, toes and nails for extra nourishment.
I’ve been putting rose oil on my c-section scar as its supposed to heal scars faster.
I put a few drop in the bubble bath along with lavender oil to enhance the smell.
Add it to your oil diffuser in your bedroom and it will instantly give off a more romantic/peaceful smell to your sanctuary. (mix it with lavender or frankincense for a less floral smell)
