I can remember my first NYC apartment had a few small windows I could open to allow the fresh air in. It was my absolute dream to have even just the tiniest little balcony where I could sit outside and take in nature. Now days, I spend many of my evenings outside on my patio luxuriating in the warm Texas air. With the warmer weather here in full swing, I suggest making the most of your outdoor space so that you too can enjoy the bliss that comes with being outdoors.
A few things you can do to make your outdoor space alluring:
MAKE IT COMFORTABLE. Add pillows and cushions that you can sit and relax on. There are so many places that sell outdoor cushions if you need ones that can be rained on. Get several. Cushions are so inviting.
UPDATE THE FLOORING. Or get a cool outdoor rug. World Market has some amazing options. I love this one.
BRING IN SOME FRAGRANT FLOWERS. I love lavender, gardenia and jasmine. You don't really have to have a green thumb. You tube some videos on how to curate a small garden on your balcony.
BRING IN A COFFEE TABLE. I don't really like the small dining patio table. Coffee tables make it feel more like an outdoor living room. It also can serve as a place to put your feet up.
ADD STYLISH ACCENTS. I love this space with a Buddha head, some lanterns filled with candles and a sequin pillow. Accent your outdoor space as if it was your living room. The more style the better.
OUTDOOR LIGHTING. I think a cool outdoor pendant is so chic looking. So are the pretty string lanterns and lights.
CANDLES. CANDLES. CANDLES. They also give off a beautiful dim light that looks so luxurious and spa like.
GREENERY. The more green the better. Especially if you are in a high rise where you are too high up to see much green. It brings the harmony.
