habitually chic...

*from Habitually Chic blog

i like to think at times that i have amazing style and taste. then i stumble across pictures of the apartments of stylish women and im like...hmmm. i gotta get my game up.
this girl, olivia polermo is the ultimate NY socialite....her closet it MY DREAM CLOSET...but its funny when i see the rest of her apartment, i realize we have similar styles...and notice the cute little elephants on her window. and the breakfast at tiffanys shot i have in my own bedroom. i may not be a millionare, but in my own beverly hills bungalow, with my average paycheck....i live a similarly stylish life. that makes me feel SO BLESSED! and i owe it all to the wonderful creator, my GOD, my Light! thank you for blessing me!!!!!!!!!

ELLE Decor party in LA...

so last night I got the wonderful opportunity of attending a interior design industry event in LA. It was right up the street from my house in beverly hills @ exquisite surfaces showroom. i went with Barry, the architect at my firm. i love him! the event was sponsored by ELLE Decor. I got to meet the Editor-in-Chief Margaret Russell. This was a great opportunity for me. Networking with these industry insiders. Funny how God works, he has been putting me in all of these amazing LA situations/opportunities as i am fantasizing about San Francisco. I honestly feel so blessed with everything that is happening around me at the moment. It is really wonderful!

What is Light, spiritually speaking? It's joy. It's unconditional love and compassion. It's that which animates us and fills our body with life. And you experience it all the time. Any moments in which you feel genuinely happy, when joy floods through you...that's the Light. When you are pleased by a job well done, when you are tingling from falling in love, when you are perfectly relaxed on a boat on the ocean, when you are laughing so hard with friends that you think you're going to explode, when you watch someone you love earn something they deserve. The source of all of this is the Light. The Light is on 24/7. We only need to step back from our rational, self-serving minds, and let it do its magic.Allow yourself to feel the Light today. Just let yourself experience the joy, love and compassion that is inside of you. That's it.

love quotes...

"We all want to fall in love. Why? Because that experience makes us feel completely alive. Where every sense is heightened, every emotion is magnified, our everyday reality is shattered and we are flying into the heavens. It may only last a moment, and hour, an afternoon. But that doesn't diminish its value. Because we are left with memories that we treasure for the rest of our lives."-anonymous

kabbalah daily inspiration

Tuesday, July 15

One illusion in life that gets us into lots of trouble is the feeling that there isn't enough good stuff to go around. It's like watching your favorite dessert being sliced before your eyes and everyone reaching in for a big, thick piece, and it's still nowhere near your turn. You start thinking you're going to be left out, so you quickly come up with strategies to make sure you definitely get your share. Most of our daily thoughts involve keeping someone else from getting theirs. Now imagine the relief you'd feel if the waiter walked out of the kitchen carrying two more trays of dessert, fresh out of the oven, and announced that there were several more baking. You'd realize then that there was more than enough for everybody. And you'd realize that there was no need to expend all that energy on stressing over your slice, the size of it, the quality, the order in which you received it. You could have relaxed and just enjoyed yourself the whole time.Keep working, moving forward, sharing and caring about the people who cross your path. You'll get your slice in due time. The harder you work for it, the tastier it'll be.

san francisco on my mind

Here’s top 10 reasons to live in San Francisco for those of you thinking about moving here:

1. San Francisco is one of the “greenest” cities in the world. (Ranked Top 5 in the U.S.)

2. San Francisco is surrounded by water and ocean breeze is better air than air in most other metropolitan cities.

3. San Francisco is one of the most diverse cities in the world. (It’s also home to the biggest gay community in the world)

4. San Francisco is a mix of the beach/city/suburban setting all-in-one. (Of course, it’d depend where you live)

5. San Francisco is cool in the summer and does not get cold as much as inland bay area cities.

6. Cheap Chinese food and cheap chinese groceries. On contrary to your belief, San Francisco is actually cheaper in food prices if you shop at a “chinese” grocery where they don’t tax you like the major groceries. Plus, there are so many Chinese restaurants that Chinese food gets very very cheap in San Francisco.

7. San Francisco is the heart of culture of the Western Hemisphere of the U.S. There’s no other place like it period.

8. Lower crime rates and less race-related violence in San Francisco. (than L.A.)

9. City life without the cost of city pollution.

10. Lots of fun stuff to do including clubbing, parks, museums, shopping, etc…etc…

If it ain’t in New York, it’s probably in San Francisco.

i read this from some girl in San Francisco....blogging about her life...gives me so much inspiration

she says....Also, even though I've been sort of "nesting" lately, this whole experience brought me back to what I love the most about traveling: making connections. I think there are few things in life that are better than the spontaneous friendships that come to us while traveling... Oh! I speak of the delights of sharing sunsets, meals, tips, soulful conversation, laughs or simply a bumpy bus ride... These moments are nothing but delicious and unforgettable. And that is what I want to create here. A place to connect, a hub for information, a bridge, an incentive to travel and a safe harbor where this community can find shelter and fun on the road.
And since I can't go traveling right now, I want to keep this feeling of openness alive and invite all of you to look at your life as an adventure as well. Free yourself to possibility and invite special moments in by simply following your heart's interests and clues. Sometimes the main journey is exactly where you are. Let happiness come your way...

giving back...in love

i have been in the mood for love...

well i guess i always am. but today not only does the love in my mind come from alex and the thought of being in love... it comes from my love for God...my love for others...and i am in the mood to give love to those who need it. this weekend tuyet and i are going to take an orientation class for School on Wheels. It's an organization that gives people like me the opportunity to help children who are in need of school assistance and tutoring. it feels so nice to be able to have an opportunity to give to children in the community who need love...i cant wait to have children of my own. this will be one of the most beautiful moments of my life, being a mommy. i have wanted to be a mommy and a wife for as long as i can remember. and i often look at pictures like this and think.....ah! i cant wait...seriously

i heart new york...

Susan Gutfreund...that is her name. my idol. my hero. my aunt.

she is such an intoxicating woman. i had the pleasure of spending time with her while on my trip to NYC for Dana and Westin's wedding. It was goregous....simply beautiful. A ceremony at a church in Nyack, a beautiful hour long bus ride through the cities, a goregous boat called CLOUD NINE, a midnight viewing of the Statue of Liberty, and most importantly time with some of the most important people in my life.....Megan Dee...my cousin JP..and my aunt, Mrs. Susan Gutfreund.

She literally blew me away with her beauty, she looked just like my grandmother..just younger. it almost took my breath away. As i sat and chatted with her i learned so much. I felt such a surreal experience seeing her home again, after over 15 years. It was utterly breathtaking. She showed me some of her work..we hopped around the city doing little things. It was so meaningful to me. I learned so much more than I ever thought I would...in just a couple of hours...

she showed me an article that the NYSD did on her that very week i was there.....i sat in this very room, its where we had tea. After I read the article I was in awe..her responses...her words...her wisdom.

Cancun blue is my favorite color

The ocean is my favorite place in the whole world. When I am by water I am completely centered, completely happy with life. Its a spiritual place for me.
tuyet and I had a blast in cancun! We stared into the ocean all day long and we got lively and fun at night. Everyone is having a good time, the pools are dynomite and the ocean waves are so rejuvinating. Not to mention the smell of Hawaiian Tropic and Australian Gold tanning oils all over the place. It was pure bliss for 4 days. A much needed vacation, not only for our souls but for our tans too! ;)
We are so blessed!

the power of prayer

Saint Theresa's Prayer

May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on

the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom

to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.
(a friend sent me this through email today. and it was just the perfect sentiment at the perfect time! i love you dana!!!)
AND NOW IM OFF TO CANCUN!!!!!!!! :)

got traveling on my mind...

i am seriously missing Australia right about now...and even though i am leaving for CANCUN in less than 24 hours all i can do is fantasize about traveling. everything about it, the airplane, the magazines, the luggage, the feeling of being lost, learning the history of a new place, learning about new cultures, new food, new wine, new art, new adventures. ugh! its my ultimate passion!
and of course im thinking of how much i miss justin and all my aussie friends...

Hollywood Stars

I have finally done the Hollywood tourist thing and made it to the Chinese Theatre. I can't believe i have been here in LA for so long and there are still SO many things i have not done or seen. Walking the stars at night was so amazing, you just get the feeling of old hollywood breathing all around. I fell in love when i saw SOPHIA LORENS handprints and shirley temples. It was so exciting!! I am so glad that i took advantage of the moment while i live here. I am so blessed.

amantes dançando

so lately i have been feeling really inspired to paint. Ispiration from traveling and reading, just about everything inspires me....
LA has so many great ART fairs. i went last weekend to an art walk at the Brewery. Its this compound that only artists live in, in downtown LA. the people were very cool with a relaxed indie vibe. We drank wine and checked out all of the amazing artists work in their own dwellings. Such great inspiration.

This is my latest work...its called "dancing lovers" but in portugese it is....amantes dançando

HAPPY EASTER!

I just love holidays. Easter is a great one. It is the beginning of the SPRINGTIME and that always gives me the feeling of LOVE. Im crushing on a boy and enjoying the sun. Falling in love with all of the flowers around and the happiness that is in the air. Wearing my bright colored shoes and drinking lots of white wine. :) Feeling the happiness everywhere.

The new Danity Kane album dropped and its really really good. Its a must-buy!

"i'm a sucker for love...for love...for love...for love..."

Girls Night!

Last night we went to see THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL. Such a good movie. It's all about scandal and love. Not to mention the men are beautiful and so are the costumes. We went to the Archlight in Hollywood, snuck in a bottle of LA CREMA pinot noir (my favorite) and enjoyed! It felt like such a decadent hollywood night. I love this city! xoxo
