Decor therapy: infusing color through your rug

Who else is really feeling the beautiful sunshine of Spring? I am thoroughly enjoying having an extra hour of daylight. It makes me feel like I have more time to do things, to run around town and find beautiful things to bring home. 

I have brought home a few new plants, I am loving filling my home with fresh flowers, too. We are all craving more color in our homes right now, color energizes us according to our personal needs. Often times, its the colors that we are naturally drawn to that give us the energy and healing that we need. However, we tend to also choose to color our homes according to our 'favorite color' or what is currently trending. Did you see this beautiful blue apartment?

Choosing what colors we should decorate our home with should be such a personal choice, what may work for others, may not be what you need. I teach my clients how to choose their power color/s, so that when they are creating the color palette for a well designed space, their life & wellbeing is in mind. 

Overdyed rugs have been such a trend for the past several years and I am feeling that this trend isn't going anywhere. It's a fabulous way to add color to your home without having to paint your walls or make any overwhelming changes. In fact, rugs are such a great piece that you can change throughout the years, without having to change another thing. 

These rugs come in a variety of colors and you can totally get one on a budget. The best part, they literally go with any style or look. I have pulled together inspiration images from some of my favorite overdyed rug moments. This is to show you just how you can use them in your home. Get ready to add a dash of your power color so you can experience more bliss! 

I love the way this pink rug brightens up this white + black living room. This is a great example of how using a bold overdyed rug can be just the thing to add a beautiful pop of bold color without painting the walls. For this room, I would encourage you to go for a bigger rug. Let the rug fill the room, it will make the whole space feel more grand.

Color Therapy: living in a sea of blue

In my Spring Into Success workshop, I've been talking a LOT about color therapy. How the colors you live with are so vital to your happiness and wellbeing. In the workshop, I explain just how to pick your power color. The color or colors your body is craving to be surrounded by & how to use the color in your home so that it works for you. 

Lately, I see almost every home on Instagram or Pinterest with white walls. Don't get me wrong, white walls can be beautiful but I always want to encourage you to be open to coloring your world with the colors that make you feel alive, nurtured and vibrant. 

Todays inspiration is such a perfect example of exactly what I am referring to. This blue filled home of @idaillustrates is absolutely beautiful. I am obsessed with the shade of blue on the walls. It's soft and muted, completely serene and calming. Which she probably needs because she is a creative, an illustrator with the most gorgeous works of art. So feminine and so lovely. 

When decorating a smaller space and using rich color on the walls, I always like to make sure to paint all of the architectural elements like she did with her built in closet here. It makes the entire space feel larger and more serene. 

The femininity of the space is something I really connect to and am inspired by. I also am enchanted by her mermaid illustrations.
