Why you should absolutely unleash your Ista & decorate how you want

If you have read anything about me and my story, then you know that my success has been a long, long journey for me. I believe passionately in stepping fully into who you are, living your life with passion and purpose and thriving in bliss! It's why I created Ista Magazine & my online course, Unleash Your Ista. 

Unleash Your Ista is all about learning how to become more of who you are and be okay with it. For so many of us, we have fallen pray to doing what we are told or doing things how everybody else does them. The problem with that is we are vastly missing out on the life we are meant to be living. This is where blocks come in, confusion, things not quite working out how we want them to. We are probably not living out our full truth. 

When it comes to my clients, I can always tell when they are aligned with their truth...at home. Their home is a mess, its unfinished or there are too many things that are trendy but aren't really a representation of who "they" are. Happens to the best of us. 

Living from your Ista means living from your truth, your passion, your inspiration, your obsessions, the deepest, realest, truest YOU! Everything that makes you feel really alive. I love it when I see people living from their Ista...and this one gal in particular let's her Ista shine through her home on instagram. You must check her out @fashionhippieloves. A young twenty something gal living in Germany, and she has such a fun, glamorous and wild decorating style. 

Why I love her...She decorates for her. She doesn't follow any rules. You can tell she just surrounds herself with beautiful things that she absolutely loves. When you do this, things go together, things look good and pretty. It's because it's showing through that she is aligned with her sense of style and who she is. Nothing fancy, nothing formal, just absolutely fun!

3 BASIC RULES FOR DECORATING HOW YOU WANT:

1. Choose ONLY things you love. Listen, there are definitely guidelines when designing or decorating a home but there aren't any real rules. Your home should make you happy and be a living curation of what you love. 

2. Maximalism vs. Minimalism. Either way, you're golden. You can make both look fabulous if you keep your home organized and clean. If you are going for that gypsy glam, try to stick with a strong color palette to keep things looking chic. I love how this home has a ton of silver and grey so it looks pretty without feeling too overwhelming. 

3. Be a clean machine. Having a dust free and clean home just might be more important than what is actually in your home. If it is difficult for you to keep it clean on your own, upgrade your lifestyle and hire a maid. They really are a god-send. I promise you that if you are living in alignment and have fully unleashed your Ista, then you won't say to yourself "I can't afford a maid.", you know that you can manifest anything you want and a maid is something you deserve because it's living in your truth, you don't want to clean. 

4. People pleasing is a 'no-no'! As much as we love the feedback of others or to get their approval, that is NOT allowed at home. Decorate for you. Shop for you. Choose things that you, your family and your home will love! This can be difficult when we don't live alone and have others in our home who have their own particular likes too. Take those into consideration. Allow them to have the things that they love too, even if they aren't so glamorous. Kids toys? Get bins or baskets that you LOVE to store them in. Husband's ugly sports memorabilia? Find a way to make it chic, frame it in a cool frame, place collections on a glam bookcase, etc. You can think outside the box and make it your own.

Decorate Your Home for Gemini Season

We're one zodiac sign away from the official beginning of summer and I don't know about you but I can definitely feel Gemini's ever changing energy starting to take over the more grounded and stable Taurus energy that we're now leaving behind. Gemini helps to break us out of routine and encourages us to bring newness into our lives, which can be both exciting and rewarding. But you don't have to be a Gemini to embrace change. You can bring in the mutable energy of this quirky sign by decorating your home for Gemini season. 

Gemini Season Tip #1: Embrace a blank canvas

This tip may seem counterintuitive for those of you who know Geminis because you know they love change. But it's for this very reason that they should live in a space that is a blank canvas. This gives them the freedom to switch up their decor just as often as their mood changes! And you too can have more fun decorating by sticking to a neutral palette and bringing in different patterns and colors as the seasons (or your moods) change.

Glam Shui Tip: Try creating a neutral entryway and decorating it with a rotation of your favorite things.

Gemini Season Tip #2: When in Doubt, Double Up

Gemini's symbol is the twins, which gives a duality to their personality. They sometimes get a bad wrap for being two-faced or having two sides but you have to admit that their chameleon like qualities is what makes them interesting! The rule of three in decorating is a popular one – grouping three items together to make your space more interesting. But doubling up on an item can be just as interesting and visually appealing. Try two matching decorative pillows for your bed or two matching vases on your fireplace mantel. It will create symmetry and balance, something that Geminis could use! 

Gemini Season Tip #3: Make Room for Guests 

Gemini is the first air sign of the zodiac, which is part of the reason why many of them are social butterflies who value a great conversation. Many of them love entertaining and mixing their different social circles. A great way to encourage guests to mingle in your home is by taking the focus off of the television in your living area and setting your sofa and seats up to face each other around the coffee table. Gemini Season Tip #4: Create a Library

Gemini's are naturally curious and usually well versed in a wide array of subjects. This is one of the reasons they are so good at conversing with people from all walks of life. Having books in your home on various subjects is a great way to tap into Gemini's energy and creating a home library is not only good for your personal education, it can look great too! If you don't have the luxury of dedicating an entire room to a library, invest in some stylish built-in bookshelves and have fun styling your books by grouping colors together and placing decorative items on and around them. Gemini Season Tip #5: Step-up your Mental Agility Game

Gemini is ruled my Mercury the communication planet which means they spend a lot of time thinking. Many of them enjoy puzzles and/or other activities that require a lot of mental agility. This is a skill that everyone could benefit from so having games and items that work out your brain in your home like chess, crossword puzzles or a meditation area can help keep you sharp.
