Summertime Style: Boho chic decor ideas for entertaining outdoors

When not spending time by the beautiful lake in Austin, you’ll find me sitting poolside with my family and friends.

And in my own home, I’ve been doing all I can to spruce up my backyard and make it the perfect place to have a cocktail on a late Summer afternoon.

Anytime I entertain outdoors, we end up pulling pieces from indoors to outdoors to make the space feel more like we were relaxing in our living room. Lounging outdoors hours after the sun went down the best part of Summer. Now, I'm on the hunt for some fun indoor items to put outside permanently.

Here are a few picks for the current look I am crushing on. . .

Every boho outdoor space needs a peacock chair. This one is only $266! Take a simple rug in pretty blush colors, feel free to layer a few different looks. I like this fringe rug too.  These small carved wood tables make the perfect outdoor side tables. I found a great source on Etsy for moroccan poufs. This beige one looks so good and is a total steal! A chic round rattan tray is the ultimate for entertaining outside. I love this lumbar shaped pink pillow, it goes perfectly in this setting.  Wedding blanket pillows also give some fun texture to your outdoor space. When outdoor entertaining, I also love the glass altar candles that you can find at any dollar store.

Use a mexican serape

In addition to these fabulous things, I am also a huge fan of Mexican serapes to add color to your outdoor space. You can grab them anywhere, especially when on Summer vacation in Mexico. Urban outfitters has some pretty ones you can scoop up. 

I also love the black and white look, this pillow is totally on my radar for my patio.

Summertime Home Styling: freshening up the fireplace

I can remember my very first NYC apartment. It was under 300sqft but a heavenly little space. My favorite part about the matchbox apartment was the fireplace. There is nothing more glamorous than a fireplace mantle in any living situation. Now that we are in the dead of summer and there is no chance or reason to fire it up, its a perfect time to add some personality and style to your mantle. 

Here is a shot of mine when I first moved in. . .

This fireplace didn't actually work so I put in a mirror and a stack of magazines to give it some magic and energy. My black moroccan pouf was also a fabulous little accent.

As many of you  know I am an avid antique shopper and I always love finding an empty and beautiful frame. I love the idea of layering a few to add some height to your mantle. 

To give your fireplace some life add some greenery, palm leaves, succulents.
