i love blogging...

because I have met so many amazing people.
shared so many amazing stories with women from all over the world.
i love the friendships blogging has brought me.
and i truly love the design inspiration i have found and get to share.

Mariska Meijers is one of those really awesome people.
My new sponsor from Amsterdam, an artist and a blogger who I absolutely adore.
She was sweet enough to make me a little painting.
I thought I would share with you all bc i just think its too cute!

thank you mariska. xoxo

secret to domestic bliss #12...spring colors

Currently the sun is out and the weather is warm.
I am loving it.
In my excitement, we here at my apartment have decided to create a brightly colored lounge
on our patio. I have been looking in all the latest mags for inspiration and
bright and fun colors are everywhere!
Living Etc, Elle Decor, even Traditional Home all feature bright neon colors in the home.
It must be the new trend.
While I may not be able to redo my home...I can totally change my patio!
Some of my inspiration...

and check out jonathan adler's new line...

secret to domestic bliss #11 ...get geometric

We all know it's all about the accessories, right?
Something I am really loving lately are these wonderfully cute circular mirrors.
Either Captain's mirrors or simply just a framed circular shaped mirror can do wonders for a space.
It gives a little something extra....like a sweet kiss to the room.
I don't know what it is but they always grab my attention.
Such scene stealers they are! I love them.

Even this little pink devil just amazes me.

They always make a great statement above the fireplace.

A huge one can really make the bedroom rock.

I even adore how one is propped against the fireplace.
Such a statement in a dressing room + in gold, too. love.

i mean...why not get a little crazy, and try two!

secrets of spring...

Spring has arrived and so have the flowers...
Want to learn how to make the perfect bouquet for the home?

  1. Step1

Begin by unwrapping the greens from the plastic. Cut the stems of them at an angle under room temperature running water. Arrange these so that they circle the vase evenly.

  2. Step2

Unwrap the babies breath, also cut the stems of these ones at an angle under water, and disperse them around the vase, between the greens.

  3. Step3

Now take and unwrap the flowers. Picking each one up singly cut the stem at an angle under room temperature running water. These may be cut at different lengths, so some may stand above the others and have a fuller look. Take each flower and arrange it between the greens and the babies breath (I prefer these to be in the middle of them).

  4. Step4

When all bouquets have been cut and arranged to liking in the vase, unwind the raffia and wrap around the vase once. Depending on the size of the neck of your vase you make be able to wrap this around more than once. However, after you have wrapped the raffia around the first time, tie once in the middle of the front of the vase and wrap for a second time. Tuck the ends into the raffia that is already wrapped.

  5. Step5

Finally take a strand of the raffia (some may have fallen off while you were wrapping it) and thread through the loop on top of the charm you have chosen. Tie this around the wrapped raffia in the front of the vase. Now you have a beautiful personally designed bouquet of flowers. Enjoy!

holy weekend makeover!

ok...so my apartment is 'under construction' hence, not the best photos.
(i want you guys to see it finished)
I do however, want to share with you one of my recent DIY projects.

I currently live with my male cousin and we have completely opposite taste,
so we are going for a masculine chic look.
A friend of ours gave us these candle holder/panel thingys as a housewarming gift.
(yuck!)
but my cousin loves them...so they are here to stay.
I thought...'hmm, why not recover?'
and they went from this...
to this!
(excuse the lighting, it was so late at night)
it required minimal tools + equipment.

what do you guys think???

eat pray love.....the movie

This gives me chills.
I absolutely loved this book. I read it from cover to cover on my vacation to DC.
I just could not put it down. I think every woman can relate to this story in some way.
I most definitely did and I recommend that if you have not read it...
read it before you see the movie!
What do you guys think of the trailer?

secret of domestic bliss #10...add an art wall

Art walls are all the rage.
Because I work in an art gallery, I know how badly people want to create the look of an art gallery in their home.
Quite frankly, I think it just looks cool.
No matter if you have 5$ art from the local fair or 10,000$ Monets,
it is completely stylish to create the look in your own space.
Then, when guests come over, it makes for a great conversation starter.
For a hostess...that's always a good thing.

Art wall by Anna Spiro...now, she is awesome!

I absolutely love the 'above the staircase' look. Old Skool.
sometimes just a jumble of beautiful frames is all you need.
If you space them really close together it looks like a beautiful collage.
and don't be afraid to throw in other elements, like a mirror.

Symmetry goes a long way + can mage a huge impact!

and if you are an artist like mariska, then put up your own.

all black frames + white mattes give your wall a super crisp look.
Keeping with the same theme of art makes a cool statement too!

see...an artwall just makes you happy!
