10 things that rocked my world this week. February 6

1. This was a wonderful week back on the west coast. I got to experience Las Vegas Market + plan, decorate and serve as Maid of Honor in my sissys wedding! Such a wonderful weekend. The palm trees of course were so incredibly pretty. I took about 100 pictures of my favorite streets...

2. One of my newly engaged besties was in Vegas with me and we got to meet our new role model, Genevieve Gorder. She might be the coolest girl I've ever met. Her new rug line was so good!
3. I was so overwhelmed with all of the amazing things at LV Market, but I loved this beautiful little peacock at Global Views showroom, where I spent most of my time.
4. This incredible gold sunburst headboard by christopher guy was my next favorite...insanely cool!
5. The colors of the wedding just rocked my world, navy and hot pink. They were just color perfection on her special day! I loved our dresses...
 6. and our shoes were pretty adorable too! Hot decorista pink.
 7. We picked out most of the flowers ourselves at LA MART and these gorgeous tropical flowers that we used on the sweetheart table were pink + navy too. Couldn't have been more perfect.

 8. The wedding was incredible. There aren't even words to describe how perfect it was. The OC was the perfect backdrop and setting and the people who were at the wedding, made the wedding so magical. My favorite part...I caught the bouquet! hehee...
 9. I am so not over California. It holds the most special place in my heart. Leaving it was so hard but at the same time, I couldn't wait to get back home to my routine and my job and my life...

 10. HELLO NEW YORK! I love that the GIANTS took the Superbowl win. Made my week end with a bang!

it's summertime somewhere...

and even though its mid winter, I am loving me some bright colors and the pretty neon shades of yellow, pinks and oranges. I really think it's California that just brings out the happy and bright girl inside of me. Of course my clothes and my home decor accessories are always changing and I so love to add gorgeous bright colors in the rotation...

Art is probably one of my favorite ways to add color as most of you already know.
I love a bright pop of color on the couch when the rest of the room is neutral. It can really add a touch of whimsy to modern +  rustic decor.

wonderful walls of windows

My favorite thing about being on the west coast is the amazing walls of windows. I am in Las Vegas checking out the LV Market and getting familiar with what is the latest and greatest in the design scene. I am loving every minute of it and also getting prepared for my sisters wedding on Saturday in the OC. Lots and lots to do but what is taking my breath away while I am here is the amazing homes with windows with ridiculous views. Gosh I miss the west coast...

I HE(ART) DESIGN: Resort Style

Hello everyone, Lynnette from The It Girl Project with a little mini-vacay for you. A very warm welcome to Ashlina, as she is in my neck of the woods...
She is on vacay in Vegas and LA this week. Yay!
So now she has me daydreaming of summer and going on vacation. The style of photographer Slim Aarons pieces has always given me this same feeling. They exude this incredible stylish relaxation from the Palm Springs of a bygone era that I just love. You can get this style in your home for year-round relaxation.Musts to achieve this style: Bright, retro-inspired prints, furnishings with clean lines and absolutely, most definitely a fully-stocked bar cart ... after all, it's not a vacation without a cocktail in hand!

10 things that rocked my world this week...January 29

1. Exactly 1 year ago today I arrived to New York City, bags packed and my whole world sitting before me. I had no idea what the next year would hold. Happy 1 Year Anniversary to me + NYC.
This was the first picture I took out of my new window...and my coffee mug. Just look at the snow!

 2. Green and gold together. Yes, this antique, glass light fixture just blew me away in person. I so wish I had somewhere to work with this...
 3. This metallic wallpaper at my fave local thrift shop is oh so glam.
 4. My church has the most stylish people and this dapper dude was rocking a bowtie and I loved everything about it. So fresh.
 5. My mom sent me this fabulous vintage fur caplet and I am so in love with it. It's perfect over any cute sweater. I feel so very DALLAS in it.
 6. Ok, I seriously have a crush on this bengal tiger rug from Nepal. I want one!
 7. Black and white checkered floors in gorgeous New York City buildings just never fail to take my breath away.
 8. Stop everything you are doing and visit Aquiesse and buy this candle. It might be the most amazing smell I have ever put in my home. Warm, cozy and inviting. I love it.
9. I love getting things framed, the selections are always so beautiful. I spotted these squared, studded-ish looking frames and I want to use them badly!
10. my favorite sign in this city...hands down

NEW CONTRIBUTOR: Camila for EFFORTLESS STYLE

Hi Decorista readers!
This is Camila from Effortless Style Interiors I'm an interior decorator and blogger from the NY area. Ok, sadly I no longer live in NYC, but I'm only a short train ride away since I have migrated out to the suburbs!
For today's post I will be spotlighting one of my favorite rooms and showcase a couple of products that could help you achieve the look in your space.
First is up is a living room designed by Palmer Weiss:
To achieve this eclectic glam look in your space I would recommend picking up some of the following items:
1. A chic accent chair that will just envelope you. 2. A warm neutral shade on the walls will really let all of your furniture and accesories shine. One of my favorite neutral is Powder Sand by Benjamin Moore. 3. A pop of color is also needed. Since a bold color shares a lot of people use it in small doses like this tangerine toss pillow. 4. All girls love a little bling and sometimes we need to remove the bling from ourselves and put it to use in our home decor. This wall decor piece is a steal at only $47.95 and it's 38" long!!! Madness. If it's not gold enough for you go to town with a can of spraypaint. 5. A room is never finished until it gets a dose of animal print. This small ottoman works nicely in this space. 6. Original Platner coffee tables start at $1,400! Steep but really stylish. Get the same look and still have some extra $$$ in your wallet by picking up reproduction. 7. In a living room lighting is crucial. You should have a variety of sources in the space. For a table lamp this stunner is only $79.95! 8.Original Beni Ourain rugs are really pricey. I would pick up this plain rug from Ikea and then use this great DIY tutorial to get the same look.

The Decorista tip of the day...decorate with wooden frames

I am still on a little buzz about the new year and 2012. I am just loving this year already. One thing I have noticed is that I am all about natural and organic elements things this year. Nude colors and wood grains in the home are rocking my world. So. lately I have been crushing on natural tone frames within an art wall...

I personally like mixing in other elements of glamour so as not to get too earthy.
I love the crisp white sofa mixed with wood. Its very soothing...
A few wooden frames mixed in with white and black is a great look too...

I do love this pop of wood on the mirror in this room by Jenny Komenda...cute huh?

Wallpaper Wednesday...make it monochromatic!

As we all know by now, I am obsessed with wallpaper. In almost every way shape and color.
Right now, I am loving the look of monochromatic rooms that are perfectly matched to the wallpaper. It makes the space look intentional and stylish, like a well decorated home. People will never believe you didn't hire a decorator if you create a chic look like that!
Here are some of my faves...
For one kelly green is so fresh, and so is this bright orange with a mix of matchy matchy greys.
Black and white looks very classic and neo-traditional.
Pretty pink is always a winner for me.
Here is how you pull of that boho, eclectic vibe without looking too scattered...RADIANT RED!
and baby blues is always a treat.

Tablescape Tuesday...FRENCH + FLORAL

Over the weekend I did a lot of vintage and thrift store shopping which is one of my favorite hobbies. The only thing that breaks my heart is that I can't buy everything that I adore. I am constantly finding myself in love with dishware and beautiful glasses that I have to put back on the shelf because I have no room for it....
As I think to myself how lovely these treasures would look on a gorgeous Parisian inspired tablescape, I quickly come back to reality and realize I don't have a long table like these gorgeous ones. Sigh.
Now I could perhaps get away with something smaller like this...

STYLEICIOUS SUNDAY: in the nude...

The snow has finally arrived and I am loving every minute of it. The city is so quiet out during the snow that it allows me to get cozy and just relax in my apartment and relish in my domestic bliss.
While I love the soft hues of gray in my apartment, I am longing for a nude color palate. Layered shades of the buttery hue are a blend prime for decor perfection...
throw in some earth elements, golds and voila, its Sunday morning magic!

STYLING FIREPLACE...

Well, today I am getting everything squared away that I need to take care of in the city because tomorrow its supposed to snow! So, you better believe that after a big nice warm breakfast I will taking a lovely and enjoyable day relaxing at home, writing some thank you notes and trying out my pretty fireplace for the first time. I love my white mantle...
Oh how I just adore fireplace mantles...these lovely looks are my favorite.
