WANDERLUSTING: Grand Hotel Oslo Part 2

The other day I shared with all of you the beautiful makeover...
Well, now its time to show you the front part of the suite...the dining and living area. Still keeping with the purple theme, I just love how they went with a bright and light fresh color. It really keeps things cheery and romantic. Yet, I adore the pops of modern art prints, it keeps things modern and fresh.
The lavender looks so good with pops of gold and that velour looking sofa looks just delicious.
It's not very often that you see plate collages like art installations on a wall sans symmetry and I am loving everything about it. It looks fab with the white moldings, don't you all agree?

These drapes are killing me. So gorgeous. After all... It's all in the details.

WANDERLUSTING: The Grand Hotel Oslo Part 1

It's no secret that I love to travel and I'm sure you all can guess how much I love hotels...
I mean...don't we all? I think it might be my life dream to travel the world and review the hotel decor around the globe. How interesting would that be? Well, I am always in constant search online for the best decorated hotels and this one, is one of those that just does it for me.
The Grand Hotel Oslo just might be in my top 5 list of places I must stay. One of my best girl friends on the net Dagny, is the creative director for Fargerike (a Norwegian paint company). Each year when the new color of year comes out they redecorate a suite with the color theme in mind. This year its purple!
My favorite part of the suite is the study & bedroom. I love the deep plum wallpaper with gold curtains setting the perfect combination. Then, when you look up a pretty light blue ceiling and killer chandelier. This whole look literally makes my knees weak. It makes for such a fab place to get some work done. Then, you walk back into the romantic bedroom. A touch of vintage with the right amount of gold for glamour and then the deep red curtains add a little luxe to the equation.

I think this little orange stool is such a cute little guy too, love his rich color. Couldn't you just imagine staying here? I would never see the sights, I'd stay in my hotel all day!

I love the way the chandelier is accented with such a chic swag. I am also really loving deep purple with vibrant red. Maybe I should add a little of this to my bedroom...

Sherwin Williams National Painting Week {My bedroom makeover}

Yep, it's finally here, my purple bedroom paint makeover. I mentioned last week that I was going to show you pictures of my new bedroom look, now that its national painting week I am sharing the story. When Sherwin Williams reached out to me about joining NPW and assigned me the color purple, I jumped at the opportunity. For me, purple is a gorgeous color, but I never decorate with it. I'm not really sure why, its just usually a last accent color but nothing I've ever really wanted to work with. At first I considered painting a piece from an antique store but then I thought, I really need to shake up my all white bedroom and make it more of a cocoon for blissfully deep sleeping. Game on!
I ended up going with the Emerald line of paint, in the color called "soulmate" and I absolutely love it. It's so soft and muted, reminds me of a color you would see in Paris. It completely softens the more modern furnishings I have in my bedroom.
I think most of you know how much I was feeling the all white thing this winter, but painting my room purple was everything I needed and more. Now my teeny little manhattan bedroom is such a cozy little jewel box.
My most favorite area is my vanity. I absolutely love getting ready here and something about the purple sort of makes it feel more luxurious, especially with my little pink velvet vanity seat.
I really love the color at night too. It's such a dream to sleep with. Who would have thought I would love my purple bedroom so much? I'm not finished with the entire room, I need more art on the walls , a few more choice accessories and I think I am considering a new bedding look, too. For now, I am thrilled with it.
Purple can be interesting to accent, so I went for white, black and gold...Here are a few of my favorite pieces...

Wallcolor Wedensday: Pretty Purple in Beirut

“Above all, design is not about theory—it doesn’t matter whether pink and green go together. What matters are objects. They’re what give soul to a house. My home is a sanctuary where I’m surrounded by things I like.” -- interior designer May Daouk...

I love this beautiful home in Beirut decorated by Bunny Williams' former employee, May Daouk. She moved to Beirut from NYC about 10 years ago and has made this rare + gorgeous home, one of her very own. I am smitten by the way she mixes colors and have really come to be fond of the idea that all colors go together.
Blues, purples, pinks, greens, red and gold to boot! Everything exotic works in this space.
In fact, Beirut barely even has many homes, as this is one of the few in the downtown area.
It's so fascinating to me to see homes from around the world. Go Margaret Russell!

DIY weekend decorating idea...

The second I spotted this lavender wall, I was smitten and so in love. How relaxing would a lavender office space be? I have always had an affinity for metallic duct tape (like this one) and thought this little DIY project would be perfect for my readers! I love anything with molding, whether it be faux molding or not. Would you guys be interested in doing something like this? So cute, no?

WALLCOLOR WEDNESDAY...lavender loveliness

I personally think that the color lavender is really underestimated. Most people associate it with a nursery or a really feminine room but I think that the color can actually be quite sophisticated when used in the right way. Yes, of course it is feminine but let us not forget that in our history the color purple was used to signify royalty. I love when it is used in the unexpected places and situations...it can be quite breathtaking...

I do think it looks very sweet in a country-esque kitchen...
It is absolute perfection in this modern home office...no?
This couple just looks so cozy in this sophisticated lavender dining room...

STYLING FIREPLACE...

Well, today I am getting everything squared away that I need to take care of in the city because tomorrow its supposed to snow! So, you better believe that after a big nice warm breakfast I will taking a lovely and enjoyable day relaxing at home, writing some thank you notes and trying out my pretty fireplace for the first time. I love my white mantle...
Oh how I just adore fireplace mantles...these lovely looks are my favorite.
A dash of purple makes for the perfect femininity to the masculine edge of a fire,  don't you think?
Hope you guys have a cozy + wonderful weekend!

Wallcolor Wednesday...prospecting purple

My newest client is the ultimate girls girl...
and her love of purple is similar to my own. That just makes me incredibly happy. So in attempt to create her living room dreams, we are starting with a plum/eggplant color on the walls. We are thinking of going with something like this below...and adding some gorgeous gold frames.
She lives in a pre-war walk up, with the most amazing molding similar to this utterly glamorous room below. I love the mix of different purples. That pop of light blue in the drapery is divine too.
What a really good wallpaper can accomplish for you?
Style without too much clutter on the walls, similar to this pretty purple pattern.
This one is a favorite of course, and I think I might need that glass coffee table too.

bliss in the kitch' {so obviously loving purple}

Purple is my absolute decor weakness. If I spy a bold purple room, I fall instantly. How incredibly chic is this relaxing little kitchen. So dreamy. I love the light lavender on the walls, very soothing.
Flower decals on black cabinetry. cute...
Open shelving and racks of hanging greenery. even cuter....
This little kitchenette is total domestic bliss.

P.S. This outfit is my latest obsession. A purple skirt is the most fab addition to the wardrobe don't you think?
I adore Amanda Nisbet and her eye, that pretty chair + footstool is so chic.
I love this all purple canvas. Adds the perfect amount of color to bare walls...
