working for the weekend...

hope everyone is having a happy weekend!

My sister and I finally picked out her new digs in Brentwood.
She has hired me as her designer, and we got full permission to upgrade her new
cottage rental any way we choose to, or should I say...I choose to.
(my sister and I have exact opposite taste)
Yahoo!
(i'm dreaming it could be like the inspiration photo above)
So...
Designer mode is kicking in and we are off to the bookstore to buy way too many
inspiring design books.
I can't wait to get started!!!

House + Horticulture

I'm gearing up for the weekend.
I have mapped out my shopping excursions and even prepared accommodations to have puppy in tow.
Los Angeles has so many places to see I can't possibly reach them all.
I have been dying to check out this flower shop called
how cute is that name...hoot and heart?
Anyway, they are amazing. I have been reading up on them.
Their website is full of images of their work...
they help with staging photoshoots, also with events and party planning.
You have got to check out their stuff...and I have got to check out their shop in Santa Monica.

Also, here are some images of the shop found on Canadian House + Home.

idol: Paul Costello

Photography is one of those professions that I wish I would have taken in college.
I love the way photos capture the essence of the subject.
This photographer is no exception to those that capture brilliance.
You have seen his work in the glossy magazines that we adore so much.
Paul Costello rocks my world with his photographs of interiors.
He has plenty of work on his website for your viewing pleasure.
Here are a few of my favorites.
I just love the way he captures women in their domestic blissfulness.

(i love these blue china plates)
i soooo want to cook in this kitchen

loving the zebra
i am desperately wishing i was in a photography class right now.
i just think i might need to enroll.

hoot hoot...owl love

So I found this little owl from a local thrift store near UCLA.
I thought it was so cute and it was only 1 dollar.
I thought I recognized it from somewhere, it felt familiar, so I loved him.
Then I realized its from Urban Outfitters and I loved it even more.
Inspired me to search my files for interiors with owls.
I must say, they are kinda growing on me.

artist abode: Jimmie Karlsson

I deal with artists all the time. I love them. I feel I am one.
This artist happens to be a furniture designer by day.
Jimmie Karlsson.
His London flat is insane.
He is one half of the furniture design co, Jimmie Martin.

Jimmie Martin makes these chairs you have probably seen before.

The black + white with pops of color is genius.

Check out more of his digs at Living Etc.

How rad is his graffiti wallpaper???

dogs + design blogs

I am such a sucker for dogs.
I am so happy that we were able to finally rescue me a pretty princess for myself!
Now I am falling for dog photos in beautiful interiors.
Colleen Paige has some great interior design tip with the pets in mind.
Check out her magazine Pet Home Mag.
She has some great stuff to see including photography of her favorite furry friends.

Here are some more pics I found in the blogworld today...
Could you just die?

Now I'm off to take some pictures of my little princess Sophie Rose, in her new home.
