tuesday tablescapes....dining by candlelight

While I have candles on the mind today, here are some oh so lovely
candlelight tablescapes that will delight your imagination.
No matter how elaborate or what style you choose to make your table setting,
the right amount of candlelight can make the mood oh so perfect.

secret of domestic bliss #22... foot of the bed benches

Oh how. I am so relieved that this week is finally over. You guys would not believe how busy + overwhelmed I have been. Family, church, friends, events, blogging, work, etc.
I am so very ready to take a long, long nap...sigh.

Which brings me to my next SODB...putting shoes on your bed!
Yes, you read that right. There is such thing as shoes for the bed...at least I think so.
I can honestly say, when I look to a bedroom for inspiration, I am always drawn to the bed dressings.
Pillows are my first eye glance, I love the textures and colors pillows can bring.
My next stop is on what is at the foot of the bed.
Most people skip this spot and I think it needs more attention. The end of the bed can be the perfect place to sit, place books, blankets, letters, etc.
It can be just what you need if you feel your bedroom is incomplete.
This weekend, if you have some extra seating around, give it a try...who knows, you might love it!

SIX TO BLISS: the crystal edition

Who: Crystal
Where: Chicago, IL
What: a supremely hip and stylish blogger of Plush Palate

I am super pleased to have the lovely Crystal here to share her very chic secrets of domestic bliss!

1. Scented Candles: I always have candles lit when I'm at home. They're the perfect way to create ambiance and romance at home. I use Jo Malone's Vanilla & Anise candles for the most luxurious and sophisticated scent.

2. Natural Light: A room flooded with sunbeams on a bright day is my idea of a very happy home!
3. Fresh Flowers: Somehow they always lift my spirits and make me smile. They're weekly splurges well worth the money in my opinion.
4. White Linens: I only use white sheets, coverlets, and duvets in my home. They remind me of being at an expensive spa or in luxurious hotel. Exactly the feeling I want when I'm in bed!
5. Clean & Airy: To feel at peace at home, I need a clean and airy space with no clutter. One of my favorite quotes from Coco Chanel, "Elegance is refusal," reminds me that less truly is more when it comes to stuff.
6. Cozy: Home is where you can kick up your feet, spread out on the sofa, and be yourself. Creating that cozy feeling is my true bliss at home!

We all know and love this girl. With this style, how could you not?
Happy Friday everyone!

Dear Decorista,

Dear Decorista,
I love love love your site.  So much inspiration...truly decorating feast.

My question is how to 'deal' with a round coffee table.  My round table works well in my little beach bungalow BUT I struggle with how best to feature my treasures.

Any suggestions?

Warm regards,
Julianne

Dear Julianne,
Thank you so much for your very sweet compliments about my site. I truly believe that however you want to display your treasures on your coffee table can work. I have a strong belief in setting things in threes.
I also believe that you should go extremely minimal or full force, whatever you decide show off your favorite items. You can't go wrong with that. If you ever are in doubt, start with a big bouquet of flowers in your favorite vase and continue from there. Through flowers, you can see more colors and shapes and sizes. Here are some photos for inspiration! Good look and take pictures of your creation. I'd love to see!

the decorista

bliss in the kitch' {white on white daydreams}

Sometimes interior designers just get it right on point with all white.
Wouldn't it be oh so glamorous to have a huge family gathering in this fabulous kitchen?
I envision tons of baking ladies and card playing gentlemen.
Good times...
stark white walls and tile + open shelving + crystal chandelier + pink tufted ottoman = domestic bliss

tablescape tuesday: setting the table with colorful whimsy

At the moment bold and bright colors are striking me as they are total attention getters!
These lovely table settings are something you will not want to take your eyes away from.
Mixing and matching very bold hues are enticing and the perfect addition to your 'almost summer' soiree.
