A little SYTLE HAUS shout out...

One of the best things about working for an amazing design firm (like my incredible former bosses + mentors, Woodson + Rummerfield) is getting to know your co-workers and watching them blossom...
Ron and Jaime are probably the most incredibly talented and sweet bosses/mentors in the world. They not only teach but they encourage, which was such a blessing for me to experience.
Case-in-point: one of my very sweet co-workers Ryan Saghian, is now an up and coming LA designer and is getting some Hollywood decor street cred. He teamed up with the latest craze in LA celeb stylists and worked his magic over at STYLE HAUS
It's a super swanky membership only shopping experience...
Naturally, I love his style, I mean, we spawned from the same geniuses...
I am OBSESSED with the custom made velvet demi-lune sofa and those gorgeous black louis chairs. So chic.

Of course he would understand the necessity of a bar cart when it comes to Hollywood Glamour.
And to top it off... a dash of red, I swear that is the secret to decorating well.
INCREDIBLY CHIC, NO?

Tablescape Tuesday: the decorista bookshelf

Holidays are for entertaining, dinner parties and creating fabulous home decor. As most of you can tell, I love the internet, but lately, I have been pulling inspiration from some of my favorite books and wanted to share them with you...
I will always love entertaining and home decor books. I love the big pictures and holding the books in my hand, turning the magical pages and I even love the smell of the fresh printed paper. Sitting on my sofa, having my coffee and tearing through these delightful pages...such domestic bliss!
If you need some tabletop decor inspiration or just want to look at pretty things, GET THESE...
they are my most favorite.
(do you have any books you LOVE? If so, leave a comment and let me know, would love more!)

Light X Design -- Bentley MeekerI was floored by this book that covers the portfolio of lighting design guru Bentley Meeker. I have never seen such amazing entertaining photos in my life. WOW!  The basic premise of how to light any space is illuminated here by a top expert. He shows  P Diddy's 40th birthday party, and the wedding of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones. His impressive portfolio is sure to please the art, interior design, and professional and novice party planners alike.

Design for Entertaining -- Preston Bailey- This man rocks my world. He created this ultimate sourcebook guides the reader through the event planning process--from picking a theme, setting the mood, and transforming the space to details such as flowers, lighting, and table settings.

Inspired Wedding -- Matthew Robbins'- I am maid of honor in a wedding in Feb and am obsessed with this book by Matthew Robbins, Martha Stewart’s right-hand wedding expert. He approaches each wedding design with an object that the couple finds meaningful, and in this inspirational guide, he shows you how to do the same. I love it.

Flair -- Joe Nye- Who doesn't love this JOE NYE? He is a master at style. Everyone I know refers to this book at least once for entertaining inspiration.

Fabulous Parties- Mark Held- Packed with advice and inspiration from three of LA's most popular party planners. The relationship between food and flowers is clearly shown in this book with amazing photographs and will totally inspire the florist in you.

Simple Stunning Parties at Home--Karen Busen- I absolutely LOVE this book. It breaks down the art of having parties at home into one jam packed guide. With easy to do DIY projects, it can help you make the perfect tabletop decor for your next event.

10 things that rocked my world this week. December 10

 1. Top of the rock... I seriously love doing cheesy NYC tourist things for fun. It really makes me appreciate this amazing city that I live in. From the top, you realize just how small the island is. They also do the best souvenir photos...

 2. My new headboard from Zgallerie has arrived and I am absolutely in love with her! Her name is Grace too and I find that incredibly serendipitous...its one of my favorite words.
3.Yesterday in my beauty bliss post I told you about her but I had to show you guys how adorable my samantha lipgloss is. So much fun and the yummiest, mintiest, lip plumper ever.
 4. I guess I am probably the last person to get this book but I LOVE YOUR STYLE by Amanda Brooks is awesome. It breaks down fashion and how to achieve that killer celeb style. love it.
 5. A free manicure. Honestly. Best. thing in the world. I went with a lilac purple and it brightens me up each time I get a glimpse of my pretty purple nails.
 6. I am commissioning the piece for a client and the sculptor did such a fab job, don't you think???
 7. This pretty light is in an office space. Now, that is definitely the kind of light I like to be working with..
 8. More touristy stuff + Christmas tree = decorista happiness!
9. I just couldn't resist an ice skating party. There is something SO VERY new york christmas about ice skating at rockafeller center. Can you guys tell how excited I am that this is my first Christmas in NYC as an adult. I can't get enough of its magic!

10. Oh, and this fabric. I shot it upside down because it was so high to roll down in the store. I am just DYING to use it somewhere...Art Deco Amazingness!

BEAUTY BLISS...

Holiday shopping can be seriously wallet crushing, I know. With all of these gift guides online I see my money going quickly so I wanted to share with you some of my favorite beauty bargains. To help with maintaining your sense of self and a little pampering for the holiday soirees!

coconut oil (one of my biggest beauty secrets)...i use it on my hair, skin, nails, in cooking and I do oil pulling to detoxify. Ooh, its also the BEST eye makeup remover.
Samantha Buxom lipgloss has lip plumping action that is out of this world!
sephora liquid eyeliner goes on perfect every single time and no need to ever sharpen. love that.
Rimmel volume accelerator is my new favorite mascara...way better than any other mascara i've used.
Hempz Age Defying lotion works wonders and smells delicious too (like bubble gum)
Hair, skin and nail vitamins, People always ask me how I get my hair and nails so long and I swear by this brand and I buy online in bulk so as to never run out, and its cheaper. Make sure to take them as directed.

Inspiration and the city: Taboo {Palm Beach}

Happy Friday darling readers, Dina here, back from my fabulous vacation in Palm Beach Florida, where I have been escaping the New York Cold. While New York is fabulous, I consider Florida my second home and it just would not be fair for me not to share one of my favorite spots down south with all of you...

When I stay in Palm Beach, Taboo is my go to brunch spot.
Besides the fact that I love everything on the menu (and this is perhaps the best spot in all of Palm Beach for people watching), the decor captivates me every time I visit. The atmosphere at Taboo encompasses a little old school glamour while keeping the palm beach vibe, an utterly chic + vivacious combination. I would love to recreate the vibe at home, preferably the dining room and here are a few ways I would do it...

1.   I'd start with the notorious Beverly Hills hotel Wallpaper
2.   A bamboo round Dining Table
3.   leopard evokes that exotic feel and I love this Dining Chair
4.   what would it be without brass Monkey Statutes
5.   Several bunches of Botanical Prints
7.   Why, Faux Palm Trees of course
8.   To top it all off with a bit of glam and romance I'd fill family photos in this Collage Frame

xoxo

DIY simple + chic holiday decorating ideas for your tabletop

1. Paint stripes on a long white tablecloth. Sometimes the tablecloth is all the statement you need. Lots and lots of candlelight and you have a perfect holiday tablescape that will hold you over through the New Year.
No time to craft? Get a black and white striped sheet set and use as a tablecloth.

2. Paint your placemats black! Basic black placemats highlight ordinary dishware...Refinery 29 shows us how to throw a holiday party in style...with simple black and white accents.
3. Think outside of the box. Take a cue from the latest issue of Adore Home Magazine and place black Christmas tree cutouts next to long pillar candles with ribbon tied around them for a SMASHING and easy-to-do centerpiece.

Bathrooms on the brain...

Currently needing to pull inspiration for my latest project and the bathroom needs an overhaul in a major way...
Aside from the fact that green (the above photo is perfection) is at the top of my radar during the winter (it always peps me up a little), we are going for light walls, and grey features. Grey bathrooms are so my favorite right now. In fact, grey of anything is my favorite right now. I am loving the pretty marble floor and grey trim on the cabinetry...all you need is that perfect grey bathroom furniture.
I love the charm of these grey walls + light fixtures. So very feminine, which might work wonderfully.
Now this bathroom also inspires me. White walls with bits of black glamour, it's almost a perfect mix for this particular client.
Sometimes chrome can work wonders too.

COUTURE + COLOUR: Purplilicious Purple

Happy hump day readers!! Morgan here for some purplicious Couture + Colour!
1. It was love at first sight when I spotted this sparkly purple blazer on feather magazine!
2. I can't express how much I love this Miami Beach apartment designed by my fabulous, colorful boss Doug Meyer. That custom seashell wall graphic is to die for!
3. I know I've said it before but I go crazy for Suzy Hoodless wallpaper like this one shown here for her Osborne and Little Collection. I've used this paper before and plan on using more of her work soon!
4. Purple neon sign from the House of Purple Hotel. How cool?
5. I've always admired this dining room by designer Julie Hillman, I love the way she mixed the different pieces of furniture with the bubbly white light fixture.
6. Wanting this shiny purple piggy bank from Areaware.
7. I did my internship with another fabulous colorful designer Mr. Jamie Drake! I adore this colorful apartment he designed with the floor to ceiling purple master bedroom.

If you weren't already of fan of purple I hope this post helped!
Until next week...XOXO!

Welcome Sponsor: ZGallerie

As the holidays grow closer I am getting so excited to have family in to visit me in NYC. So naturally, I just can't resist adding a few little accessories here and there to pep up my pad. Where I always turn...why ZGALLERIE of course! They are always on the cutting edge of design trends so when I need something last minute, they are always a great source.
Because most of my apartment is grey, black and white, I fell instantly for this chevron ottoman, its perfect for extra seating. I also love this Dynasty Mirror, it adds a touch of modern chinoiserie.

And when It comes to holiday decorating, I would go for a few sparkly things...

For the people that I cherish (and maybe for myself too) I'd love to snap these bits + baubles up too.

office space of the day...a different kind of home office decor

glossy walls + pops of color + gorgeous desk + art on bookcase + vintage tiffany lamp =
domestic bliss
Lately, I am really into eccentric office space like these...
Mixing styles, finishes and periods can look so fab looking when done right.
I love all of this color in these photos, but for some reason, I love my office to be clean and serene so I can get actual work done and let my creative mind play with imaginary colors.
Rooms situated like this is always cool to see because its an office + bedroom...so very nyc.
I kind of really love it.

I HE(ART) DESIGN: the many horses

Hi everybody, it’s Lynnette with another I HE(ART) DESIGN post to bring you this beautiful photography and a look to compliment it.
I have long been an admirer of equestrian style, it's so very Ralph Lauren. The perfect way to embody this look is to start with incorporating horse art into the home. This piece by artist
Robert Dutesco captures this incredible moment of wild freedom.
I just love it and can imagine it blown up to oversize proportions on a wall in a gorgeous house.
Clean, crisp white and browns with rustic
touches like unfinished woods and wire baskets with pops of a classic hue like
orange bring out the equestrian vibe and soften the look to make it homey and a tad bit neo-traditional, which we love!

Styleicious Sunday: hopelessly in love with houndstooth

As I am preparing my apartment for my family to arrive this Christmas I am putting the finishing touches on a few things...
including my desk chair. Originally I was going to cover it with black and white striped velvet (so very parisian...) part of me is having second thoughts. I am having a houndstooth moment and I don't know if I can recover. I am just a smitten kitten with its chic-ness in fashion and in decor.
This chic woman just makes it look fabulous + so does an all white living room like below...
large scale houndstooth is pretty bangin' too...

so chic, no? should I do it?

10 things that rocked my world this week...December 3

 1. This cute little card (in black and white I might add) just stole my decorating heart. I think it might be my new life motto...

 2. Now because I believe in miracles and I LOVE to dream BIG...I saw this photo of this black and gold office tower and thought to myself....this is definitely what THE DECORISTA ENTERPRISES will look like one day. So pretty. So glam. So dreamy.
 3. I found this coat rack-ish type of thing at one of my favorite vintage stores. So dorothy draper....I had to have it and its the new home to all of my favorite winter coats...
(I must say, its still weird to say 'my winter coats' when a year ago I was in LA and didn't own a single one...isn't life just full of surprising things?)
 4. I am kind of obsessed with Kate Spade. While, I am much more the bombshell glamour type than the preppy type, her accessories kill me with cuteness. Like this rose bowl, we all know its a long time favorite. Every girl needs one. You can find the similar vase here.
 5. So I went really crazy shopping online for holiday gifts and found this Kate Spade striped Iphone cover. I am obsessed with it. It's perfect and completely protects my phone when I drop it.
 6. My pack of office supplies from Poppin.com. So in LOVE!
 7. So right outside of my apartment, they have lined up christmas trees. It makes me so happy because I may not be able to have on in  my apartment, they have lined my street. Oh, Joy!
 8. In case you all didn't know Pineapples are used in Feng Shui and other asian cultures as a symbol of WEALTH, FORTUNE and PROSPERITY. The sound of the chinese word for Pineapple is similar to the sound of the saying "good luck coming your way". Needless to say, I scooped up this pair of brass pineapples for my desk quickly. Now, everytime I see them, they bring a smile to my face.
9. Gemstones are good luck too. And these guys are just so darn pretty. I couldn't resist them either.
10. Now while the quote at the top of this post is my new personal mantra...this "pink please" spray painted wall I spotted is definitely the mantra of my blog. She loves herself some pink.
