DIY Decorating...Ideas for holiday decorating with ornaments

Decorating for Christmas time is my favorite, it's my absolute favorite holiday. Unfortunately for me, my nyc apartment has no room for a big tree so I have a few clever ways to improvise...
I am in love with Christmas ornaments. They are sparkly, shiny and oh so pretty...I especially like the mini disco ball kind. So, this year I will be heading to my local craft store and gathering a bunch of sparkly ornaments. Here are a few things to do with them...
First, I love the idea of tying them to pretty ribbon, (I go with velvet) and hanging them from either lighting, hooks or anything that can be hung from.
Also, because I wont be doing a lot of baking myself, I will use my cake stands and hurricane vases and fill them with ornaments. I personally like to stick with a monochromatic look like below but any ornament colors will do. You gotta go with what you love!
I have never forgotten this awesome art piece done with green ornaments. So chic.
Also...I miss having an outdoor area. If I had a front porch with bench. This is how I would decorate it. Throw in some sparkly ornaments and its perfect holiday decorating.

office space of the day...Ashley Stark's home office

pretty teal wallpaper + acrylic chair + grandma's vintage desk + hot pink skull {love}=
domestic bliss
Ashley Stark's bedroom desk area literally has had me swooning for days. The color of the walls, the white fur rug, the antique desk, the chair...EVERYTHING. Oh, and we all know my love of skulls at the moment.
While I love my plain white desk chair...I must say that I am really loving acrylic chairs in the office.
For some reason, I think I really must have one. I really enjoy the way the mix looks against colored furniture. It really just lets the beauty of the desk breathe and not be weighed down by a distracting finish or fabric.
or a pair of them looks great as well...
this yellow number is pretty adorable too...

COUTURE + COLOUR: the moody blue

Happy Wednesday readers! Morgan here bringing you your weekly dosage of
Couture + Colour. I wanted to focus this week on a color I find to be
bold and moody...
NAVY BLUE
1. Loving this fierce outfit...navy patterned Miu Miu heels and this striking navy blue dress! I love the shape and the way it moves with the wind. I wish this outfit was inside my closet...
Image via
2. I LOVE this image!  The way the navy blue wall color was used not only on the wall but to cover the door and frame, now thats good design. This color makes everything pop especially the yellow settee! This room is gorgeous.

3. This navy blue Butterfield sofa from Jonathan Adler has the right mix of comfy and sexy!!
4. If you have an old piece of furniture that needs a little spicing up, paint it a color to bring it back to life and add some flavor to your space...like this navy blue painted bedside table.
5. If you want to add only a little bit of color bring it in through something as simple as your lamp shade like this one here from Mr. Nate Berkus.
6. I have been obsessed with this image for sometime now...I think it's stunning and so creative how the doorway has been painted to bring in color. Such a great idea if you're nervous about painting your entire space and it's more unique than painting an accent wall. Image via

Hope you're loving navy blue, until next week...
XoXo!

Tablescape Tuesday...how to decorate for a party without flowers

Even though winter is steadily approaching, {way too fast for my comfort}...
the weather outside in NYC has been just delightful. I am secretly wishing it would stay like this forever. Which is why I am still pulling inspiration from outdoor soirees, another rooftop dinner in the works perhaps? It's time for me to get planning.
Right now, I am loving tablescapes with little to no flowers. Sometimes, flowers aren't at hand and you have to make something else work.
Your best bet? Natures finest! Branches look lovely in this tall vase...there is something very fresh about sticks and luscious greens. Oh, and how about these crystals? So incredibly chic yet earthy all at the same time.
I really enjoy hurricanes with big white pillar candles. It's very easy to create and when bunched in groups of large amounts, looks stellar!

House Tour: BUSY PHILLIPS at home in InStyle Mag with SPI Design

I have long been a huge fan of actress Busy Phillips. She is funny, cool and now that I see her home decor, I know she is a girl after my own heart (see above quote). Peep with me, inside her amazing Hollywood Hills home...

The girls from SPI Design (awesome girlfriends of mine from LA) are not only sweet and stylish but really showed their skills and sense of design humor in this home. Notice the big birdcage in the foyer, so chic. Busy definitely got the creme of the crop to decorate her hip LA pad. She lives in the heart of the hills in this pad with her husband and adorable daughter, Birdie. I just can't think of a cuter name...
Now how glam is this mirrored vanity in her bedroom...very decorista! She doesn't miss a beat with the fur placed perfectly on the ghost chair.
Oh, and I love the tan detail on the white roman shades, too.

The living room is pretty tailored and relaxed but the pretty silk pillows really gives a good pop of fun fabric and color.
Loving the exotic rug in the kitchen...hello, I can't get away from these bad boys.
The dining room. SO PRETTY. Love the collection of vintage mirrors on the right. Very clever.

needing. wanting. loving. EXOTIC TEXTILES

After falling for yesterdays exotic boudior...
I have quickly gotten shaken up over exotic textiles. Fabrics, rugs, pillows, etc.
I am absolutely smitten with these lovely little things.
They are perfect for bohemian rooms...
they look absolutely amazing on a sofa...
or underneath one...
are perfect for the sexy moroccan outdoor vibe...
can always be made more traditional or girly,
look smashing as a grouping of pillows...
and work wonders as a layered rug.

Beautiful Bollywood + Decorista Pink

It was love at first sight when I spotted this Beautiful Bollywood Boudior. Initially what captured my eye was the bright pinks, but...
I after much adoration, I fell for the gorgeous, rich and exotic textiles throughout the space. I love the mix of the exotic patterns. This rich space is luxurious and feminine and reminds me of a wanterlusting type of woman, don't you think?
Naturally, this gorgeous space was featured in Maire Claire Maison FR, which is what I love about international magazines. They explore the irreverence of those that decorate with major panache.
Such an incredible weakness of mine. I just adore it.

Styleicious Sunday: Stylish skulls

Skulls seriously have been slowly creeping onto my radar...
and when I found this pretty pink skull pillow on a shopping trip in the Hamptons this weekend I fell instantly. Now, I am dying to get some skull action in my home and have found some incredibly chic ways to incorporate the edgy accessory into my life.
{I also kind of dig the wallpaper above...not sure where I could use it but I will find something!}
The Alexander McQueen skull scarf has been a stylish piece for a while...but I am now digging on some skull art. It's edgy and chic all at the same time.
Styling up your accessories with skulls is very chic too.
Skull artwork is so masculine and perfect to add to any bachelor pad.
Cute right? I just can't get enough of them...

10 things that rocked my world this week: The Thanksgiving edition

1. I am thankful for the beauty of the earth, gorgeous scenery, pretty beaches, holiday weekends in the Hamptons and sparkly pillows...

 2. I am thankful for fun family board games like backgammon. This is probably my most favorite game...reminds me of my grandparents. Gotta love that.
 3. I am thankful that most cute things come in a fun shade of pink. The perfect decorista harry allen piggy bank. So fresh.
 4. I am so incredibly thankful for amazing family and this cousin of mine is one of the biggest blessings of my life.
5. I am thankful for bright happy colors. This yellow and white striped bench reminds me of Beverly Hills in the summertime. Such nostalgia for me.
 6. I am so thankful for long holiday weekends and how they allow me to catch up on work. Like my many e-decorating projects. Work is fun, when you love what you do.

7. I am thankful that now it is time to start burning holiday scented candles. I love this Archipelago Black Forest holiday candle. It is the most delicious smell ever!
 8. So thankful for cute glassware with skulls...it absolutely makes my heart melt and makes entertaining that much more enjoyable.
9. The ability to get outdoors for a nice bike ride is the ultimate pleasure, so thankful I can still enjoy the outdoors in the fall.

10. Night time fireside activities are some of the most fun memories. I am thankful that this holiday many, many amazing memories were made right by this pretty fireplace. Oh, and I'm thankful for glittery art too.

Free from Black Friday...

The morning after thanksgiving is always a time to stay in bed just a little bit longer...
because I try to stay far away from the stores on Black Friday. All the frenzy sort of frightens me.
So, today while I'm relaxing in the Hamptons, I will do all my shopping online and relishing in beautiful inspiring images as I prepare for my next week of work.
This room is a favorite of mine...a double guest bedroom with fluffy white beds and fur pillows. Simple yet chic...and that wood on the back wall is FAB too.
Here are more images that are inspiring me this weekend...
How do you guys spend your Black Fridays? Shopping? Eating leftovers?
 Bonding time with family?

Fashion meets decor: Pretty Piping

Vibrant + pretty pop of piping on perfect fall coat
meet
Vibrant + pretty pop of piping on sexy seating...
you are so on my radar right now. I am seeing some pretty piping in my future.

How incredibly tailored does piping make this white sofa look? Piping just refines the seating so well, I can't get enough of it.
VERY CLASSIC. VERY TAILORED. VERY CHIC.

Sometimes that small dose of a contrasting color is just what you need to perk up your home.

RYAN KORBAN EDGE...

Today, as I pack up my bags and head out for my thanksgiving weekend...
I stare at my stack of home decor magazines and just radiate with excitement over devouring each one. What I love about doing so, is finding myself daydreaming over interiors that I LOVE but would never actually be able to create in my own home. I like to vicariously live through them.
This space decorated by one of my designer crushes Ryan Korban, is one of those fantasy artsy spaces that I LIVE for. Outrageous artwork, amazing lighting, lifelike zebra pillows, and fur everywhere! Ugh, its so glam I can't stand it. love.

COUTURE + COLOUR: Seductive Siilver

Happy Wednesday lovely readers! Morgan here bringing you some of my favorite silver items for this week's Couture + Colour!! Hope you're making it through the week just fine before the big holiday!
1. I couldn't love this image any more than I do...hot pink lips, Chanel bag, tight metallic silver pants and a fur jacket!! I think by her pose she knows she's fabulous. She's so long hair and money.
2. I love a lot of Tom Dixon's products (that's why I was freaking out on the inside when I met him at ICFF) so it's hard to pick a favorite but I have been admiring his Bulb Chandelier, it has the right element of funk to it which I can always appreciate.
3. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before my love for antlers. This silver pair is perfection,  it's a great way to glam up a rustic look.
4. On a trip in Munich, I walked past a store front covered in silver metallic mesh tiles, LOVED it.
My tip: cover your fireplace, store front, wall, entry or any flat surface with the shiny tiles!
5. Say hello to my dream coffee tables by artist Erik Levy!! These babies are so amazing but their price not so much. They are super spendy but give the perfect amount of shine...oh, I'll never stop dreaming.
6. Some may find this shiny silver hallway odd but I find it so beautiful! Plus the neon diamond light (another obsession for me) is so unique!
7. This silver ornate cabinet comes from another company I dream about owning pieces from...Jimmie Martin! Their products all have a very glam/punk/rebel vibe to each of them, but they are dramatic in their own right, so I can't help but adore it. I discovered this company from one of my favorite designers Abigail Ahern (love her funky style)!

Now you know a little bit more about me and the items that melt my heart! I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week and holiday!! Hope you enjoyed this week's Couture + Colour!
Until next week...XoXo

TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE: coffee table chic

When you don't have room for a regular sized coffee table as many of us Manhattan dwellers, there is a great way to improvise, a pair of cute tables. I really love the look of a hot pair of chic tables. It really does add serious style and you can get away with something a little more eccentric or fun.
Now that I am on the hunt for the perfect pair for me, I have found that I actually really love me some little twinsie tables...

two is better than one, ey?

GLAMOUR AT HOME

Hello darlings! Another slew of my most favorite things I have found while shopping for clients...

I have been searching everywhere for this Kate Spade Cloverdale Vase and finally found it.
With the colder weather in NYC I want to have my apartment full of big, glossy books like Vogue, The Covers
Gold Nugget bookends are such a gem-tastic way to punch up my new desk.
This gorgeous gold + black swirl work of art by Anna Coroneo is at the top of my wishlist for amazing art! I am obsessed, its the perfect look.
#LiveSparkly Gold Pillow...need I say more?
Zgallerie Bryant Frames are so art deco and I LOVE that about them.
MOR candle in Gardenia, it's my favorite everyday scent.

DIY decorating: 4 clever and creative ideas for domestic bliss

1. Use creative shoe storage: how incredibly glam is this case piece? It is the perfect way to show off your pretty shoes without being disorganized.

2. Use creative dual purpose furniture:Use trunks as sidetables, they are GREAT for storage as well as providing ample space for lighting, trinkets, books and the like.
3. Add a pop of color to a neutral space: Get a canvas, paint it a gorgeous color and voila, you have instant, chic art and a pretty pop of color! Works wonders and on a budget, too.
4. Stylish beauty displays: When not baking, let your cake stand double as a cute tray for pretty perfume bottle display. Adds a bit of dimension to the tablescape vignette, no?

NEW COLUMN: I HE(ART) DESIGN

Well hello all you Decoristas, it’s Lynnette from The It Girl Project here to share with you a new column about my love for art and decorating 2 of my most favorite things...

I majored in Art History, so art has always been something I’m keen to and there’s no doubt that the pieces you choose for a room have a huge impact on your décor. What you put on your walls says a lot about you
and your style – so it’s important to love what you dress your walls with AND to coordinate with
your décor. Just like choosing the perfect shoes and accessories to go with a killer dress,
building your room around a favorite piece of art is a source of inspiration
and the key to making it look like a professional designed it.

I’ll be back with this series on a regular basis, each time bringing you an inspiring new art selection and showing how you can build a perfectly coordinated room around it.
I’m calling it “I HE(ART) DESIGN” and I hope you heart it too!

I adore this painting by Jeff Depner – I’m super picky with art and this one just makes me ooh
and aah. I love the colors with the girly blush pinks and corals and how he mixes them in with
unexpected shades like cobalt and canary – and I always love a chevron. It’s bold and soft at the
same time and is perfect for setting the tone for a modern girl’s bachelorette pad with a playful
nod to retro chic.
