office space of the day...dark and dreamy

something about this dark and moody workspace inspires me to work all day...
dark brown walls + double workspace + zebra rug + studded ottomans + built ins =
domestic bliss
Maybe there is something to working in a dreamy space, perfect for the creative type.

I am drawn to the coziness of the deep cushioned chairs and delicious wall colors.
It's the perfect winter home office, all you need are some yummy candles and you are ready to work.

House Tour: Photographer Douglas Friedman Bachelor Pad

We all seriously can still remember the pages of Domino magazine like they were yesterday, no? Well, this is the uber chic bachelor pad of none other than one of Domino's best photographers...
Douglas Friedman. Judging by this man's space, he must be incredibly cool. Then again, he did work for Domino mag. I am thanking my lucky stars that Refinery 29  shares his space with us, it's my bachelor pad day dream...
I am just dying to do a project like this. I am absolutely in LOVE with masculine decor and his NYC apartment is right on point. I love the deep grey walls and plethora of edgy art gracing so many of the walls. His mixture of textiles also makes me weak in the knees...leather, woods, metals, furs. It's all so intoxicating to me.
He even looks super chic with his fashion sensibility. LOVE HIM!

Styleicious Sunday: radiating red

Yesterday was the most gorgeous day in New York City. I was blown away by the colors in Central Park and my favorite thing of all was...
the incredibly gorgeous red leaves! It has me jonesing for some red in my life this fall and even into winter. An art teacher once told me that if something is ever missing in your work, add a dash of red and it will make everything come together. I've always loved that philosophy so today I am enamored with beautiful accents of red in my life.
This outfit is no exception...How chic for fall, no?
The most perfect addition of red to my winter would be a pair of HUNTER Wellies.
I also love adding red to my food with fresh strawberries and cinnamon...my most favorite addition to any breakfast!
Hope you all enjoyed the weekend.

 2. This holiday I am all about the sparkle (who isn't, right?) and these cute sequin blazers had me at hello.
 3. I can't describe the love I have for my church here in NYC. Hillsong NYC is amazing. Not to mention the decor of the venue is out of control cool, this chandelier gets me everytime. Love!
 4. My beautiful street. I am in love with fall.
 5. Incredibly inspired by the look of marble, so earthy yet glam. I snap shots of it all over the city. I just know I will have this somewhere in my future home.

 7. I finally found the perfect lampshades for my vintage crystal lamps and a pair of pretty hollywood regency-esque mirrors for my dressing area. (please excuse the mess. was getting ready)
 8. I'm a blogger, so of course I support my girl Jen Ramos and put up my GOLD LOVE CANDY print above my new desk...
 9. Nude shoes with rosettes on the toe...how could I resist?
10. Quite possibly the most gorgeous flowers I have ever seen. Rich blues and violet hues are my weakness! Sigh...

needing. wanting. loving. chandelier magic

This weekend I am welcoming some old friends to town and putting the finishing touches on my apartment...
This weekend it is my mission to find the perfect chandelier. I have a mild obsession with chandeliers, they just might be my favorite item in home decor. So glamorous and always the perfect statement piece. I can't get enough of how they just elevate a space so marvelously.
Everyone needs one.
They are perfect in the dining room, bedroom, bathroom, almost anywhere they make magic...no?
Behold a collection of my favorite looks with the perfect chandelier...

Inspiration and the city...ALDEA {NYC}

Happy Friday lovely readers- Dina here, giving you the inside scoop on yet another delectably decorated New York City venue...
Today, I am featuring Aldea, a restaurant although not so well known, well revered by those who are lucky enough to have discovered it. This George Mendes restaurant is definitely a must go for those who enjoy a fine dinner much like myself (insider tip: warm maine lobster with artichoke, vadouvan butter, vanilla-pineapple) and appreciate fine décor to compliment the palette. The restaurant is thoroughly decorated in rich blue hues, which in my book automatically elicits memories of the ocean & relaxation.
By doing some research I learned that “Aldea's interior tells a story of the inherent beauty of the countryside of the Iberian Coast” and was meant to inspire images of Water, Air, Wind, Clouds, Sky and Earth, Stone, Wood. I love a well thought out design, it completely inspires me to redecorate! So, below are my picks to help incorporate and inspire the same themes in your home- I think the rug matches almost exactly to the carpet in the restaurant! Wouldn't you agree?

1. Floor Lamp | Arteriors
2. Chandelier | Arteriors
3. Oly | Side Table

bliss in the kitch': wood + white

As the colder winter months creep in on us...
I find myself already planning my escapes from the snowy streets of nyc.
With thoughts on my mind of Park City, Utah and basically anywhere along the west coast, I long for the cozy wood kitchens in that region. Something about white and wood in a kitchen is so incredibly enticing to me. Warm coffee, pancakes for breakfast, you know what I mean.

I like the modern look it can create too...this is nothing short of gorgeous!
white and wood are such a chic combination, no?

COUTURE + COLOUR: Orange

Happy Wednesday readers, Morgan here for your weekly dose of Couture + Colour and this week's color is orange! I struggled with this post because orange is one of my favorite colors and picking only a few orange images was rough!
1. I'm dying over this funky orange feathered dress!! I would look just as happy if I got to wear that fabulous feathered item, this has been my favorite outfit thus far!!
2. I've had my eye on this orange coil table lamp for sometime now! Made out of a 100' of orange extension cord from the Future Perfect, it is definitely a conversation starter.
3. I'm loving this adorable orange patent leather armchair from www.gillesnouailhac.com. It is classic with a funky twist, just the way I like it!
4. You know by now that I love colored doors, so you won't be surprised when I tell you these orange doors are in my apartment.
5. This cheerful orange clinker pendant light comes from the creative fellows over at Rich Brilliant and Willing.
6. I love this orange painted Victorian home!! How could you drive past this home and not pull over to snap a pic?!
7. I did a post on this colorful home in Stockholm designed by Tham and Videgard Hansson Architects (TVARK) earlier this year and thought the orange dining room floors fit perfectly into this post.
Orange is a color that will always make me happy and I'd be even happier to own a few of these items in my post. I hope you enjoyed this week's Couture + Colour!!
Until next week...xoxo!

tablescape tuesday: luxurious situations

With the holidays quickly approaching, I found that some tabletop planning is essential.
I have found one item with major impact that I LIVE for...

Incredibly gorgeous gold flatware!
It's rare to see gold forks, knifes and spoon on a tabletop because most are in silver. However, when you do see the richness of gold flatware on a table, it feels instantly LUXE.
Back when I did a photoshoot for Adore Home Magazine, we put simple, chic, gold flatware like this and it just perked up the rest of the table to the next level.

So, get your own gold this holiday season for some serious style!

office space of the day... art wall ideas

mod desk + beautiful blue chair + sculptural lamp + bar cart office tray + mix of artwork=
domestic bliss
I have slowly been creating a beautiful home office for myself. I finally found the perfect desk to fit in my apartment. It's black and glossy with the most beautiful legs. (i will put up a pic soon)
So now, I am looking for the perfect way to dress up the wall space above my desk...
and I love the way these collections of great pictures look above fabulous pieces.
All black frames with white matting looks divine, but mixes of gold frames is an old favorite too!
Curious to know what you guys have above your desk....? I'm would love some fun suggestions.

art + room... feminine flowers + damien hirst

Art is my favorite part of decorating a home. The artwork always makes the most impact and gives the home its personality. I have fallen severely for this large scale floral art with the peek of a Damien Hirst print in the background...such a perfect mix of art.
glossy white floors + modern white chairs + cool glass dining table + mix of fabulous art =

How to achieve this marvelous look...

Shopping on Sundays...

The more that I spend my weeks in meetings, attending events and long dinners with friends and family, the more I realize that I need a wardrobe update. When I was living in Los Angeles, I could keep the same wardrobe year round and always look chic. New York is hardly that easy, there is almost a shift in wardrobe every few months. My favorite way to do this is by getting simple, classic pieces and pairing them with fun acessories. Bold necklaces are my favorite!
So in an attempt to always be a stylish DECORISTA,
HERE ARE THE THINGS I MUST HAVE FOR THIS SEASON...
A perfectly dramatic bubble necklace
Diptyque candle (in one of my favorite scents)
Pointy toed Kate spade python heels
For snow or long walks in the city, flat boots
a gorgeous mix of black and gold wrist watch
striped jacket to chanell my inner Chanel
Alice + Olivia red pants for meetings
My favorite TopShop camel dress
Gotta have a leopard Iphone cover
Emerald cocktail ring makes the perfect accessory for any holiday soiree

10 things that rocked my world this week...November 12

1. Fall has been the most amazing time here in NYC. Some days are sunny, some days are chilly, and most of them are absolutely just perfect, the sunrise is the most incredible. I'm loving every minute of it.

 2. After seeing this sparkly bed dressing at Gracious Home, I am on a focused path of making my bed uber sparkly and gray! So pretty.
 3. My new plates for my apartment. I have been collecting black and white kitchen ware and these plates are the perfect mix of artsy and chic for my entertaining and eating pleasures.
 4. I am a huge fan of TBN channel, yes the church station with the blond lady with really big hair. I walked by the TBN studios here in NYC and they already are celebrating christmas. The building is absolutely gorgeous with the most incredible furniture...ever!
 5. Bungalow 5 had an event to celebrate the artworks of Annika Connor. I fell instantly for the beautiful white peacock. So feminine, no?
 6. My wintertime fragrance is Amarige. People ALWAYS ask me what I am wearing and are surprised to know that its an old scent by Givenchy. It's incredibly warm and creamy, perfect for winter coziness. If you need a good winter scent, get it!
 7. My beautiful crew of contributors for the decorista. We spent a night out on the town, networking, shopping, mingling, and falling in love with new york city.
 8. Oh. My. Goodness. I found this vintage emerald green blazer with fab shoulders and a fun edgy fabric. Could not be more Kelly Wearstler-esue. I love it!

 9. I love angels. I always want to be an angel for halloween. When I saw my friend in these winged sneaks...I fell hard. If I was a boy, I would be rocking these on the daily.
10. Oh, just another shot of my incredible city. This was as I was walking home from Columbus Circle...The water fountain, taxis, the lights... a perfect new york moment.

Inspiration and the city: NYC The Lambs Club

Happy Friday lovely readers- It's Dina, reporting to you about our latest outing at The Lambs Club...
V&M threw a lovely event honoring their InSiders and Ashlina was one of them! The party was fabulous, sophisticated and so swanky, (see inside the event here). The Lamb’s Club opened last year and the reviews were all about the decor (I discovered for myself that the dinner menu was delicious as well- I highly suggest the Lobster Bisque and all the sides- especially the Roasted Cauliflower). I am not sure what I liked more- the black walls, the red dinner chairs, or the black and white vintage prints adorning the entire restaurant (Grace Kelly, JFK, all the oldies but goodies). But wait! The Lamb’s Club, which is nestled in The Chatwal Hotel (a Starwood Hotel) is right on 44th Street making it a pre-theater must (so very New York) and the hotel has managed to take the decor of the Lambs Club and extend it to the lobby bar, the upstairs bar- basically throughout the hotel, so the deco glam is EVERYWHERE- as if the 30’s never ended. Below see how I would recreate  the Lamb’s Club Atmosphere in my home:

1.Wallpaper | Romo | Laurito Flock Wallcovering Ebony
Romo wallpaper is just beyond words.
2.Champagne Bucket | Black Cased Crystal Champagne Bucket
Black and White Crystal combined to make a champagne bucket and for under $300.
3.Dining Table | Delauney Steel Dining Table
VDB only make a very limited # of these glam tables, definitely a coveted piece.
4.Lucite credenza | Craig Van Den Brulle
Lucite is the best thing to make a blast from the past and this credenza is just the ultimate lucite piece
5.Dining Room Chair | Christopher Guy
Christopher Guy is simply a genius. His furniture manages to take on a life of its own- if this chair was human it would totally be a Marilyn.
6.Coffee Table Book of Vintage Prints | Patrick McMullen | So80s:A Photographic Diary of a Decade
7.Tableware | Baccarat- Ruby
Just imagine storing it on that lucite credenza!
xoxo

art + room: a little bit abstract

beautiful shaped sideboard + delicate lamp + black wall + pretty pink abstract artwork=
domestic bliss
Right now I can not get enough of great abstract pieces of art in the home. I think I might need some for my apartment.
I go crazy for the contrast of this artwork against this busy floral vintage wallpaper.
even if the art is just leaned against the fireplace...it makes for an incredibly chic addition.

Wallcolor Wednesday...prospecting purple

My newest client is the ultimate girls girl...
and her love of purple is similar to my own. That just makes me incredibly happy. So in attempt to create her living room dreams, we are starting with a plum/eggplant color on the walls. We are thinking of going with something like this below...and adding some gorgeous gold frames.
She lives in a pre-war walk up, with the most amazing molding similar to this utterly glamorous room below. I love the mix of different purples. That pop of light blue in the drapery is divine too.
What a really good wallpaper can accomplish for you?
Style without too much clutter on the walls, similar to this pretty purple pattern.
This one is a favorite of course, and I think I might need that glass coffee table too.

tablescape tuesday...setting up soiree

As I prepare for a big birthday extravaganza this weekend (it's my favorite cousin's birthday)...
I can't help but dream up some incredible tabletop decor for his special day. Something masculine but chic because utterly stylish Manhattan-ites will be in attendance. I am forever a girl who loves to have gold on the tabletop but this mix of orange and grey I spotted from small.shop.studio just hit the right mark.
Orange is the perfect splash of color for a man's party. I also love the feathers dangling...such a dreamy feeling created for this crate + barrel event. A perfect mix of glam + modern.

How to get this look...
