I HE(ART) DESIGN: Happy Nude Year!

Happy New Year everybody! It’s Lynnette from The It Girl Project with a beautiful peaceful bedroom to start of a new year in a relaxed frame of mind. I’ve always loved this bedroom (which belongs to Domino’s one-time Style Editor Dara Caponigro and was featured in the book Domino: The Book of Decorating.

See that great sketch of a nude to the left of the bed...

I have for years had this type of art in the back of my mind as something I’d love to find a place for in my own home. There’s an ease to it that is relaxing, but elegant and timeless – it is both modern and ancient and I love things that feel like that are perfectly in place now as they could be in a room in another time and place. So recently I spied this pair of sketches called “Spa Day” at Zgallerie – an amazing deal!
Around these, I’ve designed a bedroom with a touch of modern, a touch of industrial influence and of course a touch of plush – a bedroom should always feel slightly indulgent.

Styleicious Sunday...black and white stripes + 2012 resolutions

Happy New Year everyone! I can't believe that 2012 is finally here. Today I am joyfully celebrating the start of something fresh for me and I'll give you a hint of a little something special I have been working on...
black and white stripes have long been my favorite look, not only is the pattern very prominent in my apartment, I am using it in an upcoming project that I am wild about
It's totally my style. Bold, classic, glamorous and a little edgy too.
This photo says it all for me and what I want lots of in 2012.
Black and white stripes, a little bit of brass and a dash of coffee too!
One of my new years resolutions is to travel more...paris, india, morocco. So, I'd like to be seeing stripes in a setting just like this.
This year, more written notes + letters...
I am on the hunt for these envelopes found on pinterest. Anyone know where I can find?
I could use to spend a little more time reading and a little less time typing...
I'd like to be a little more eccentric in my style, I wear the same classic look every day and its getting a little boring. I'd love to don something like this fun girl...

or this one...
or these fun girls. love their hats...
the rest of these photos are what is my true hearts desire...
dinner parties
romantic moments...
and peaceful time by the ocean...
oh and plenty of decorating too, of course!

HAPPY 2012 EVERYONE...
MAY THIS YEAR BRING US ALL HEALTH, WEALTH & SUCCESS IN ALL AREAS OF LIFE!

10 things that rocked my world this week...new years eve edition

It's 2012 at midnight tonight and I am so ready for the new year...
 1. I vow to wear a fascinator this year...they are just so cool and kelly wearstler does it, so why not?

(pardon the weird eyes in this photo but i had to share)
 2. My new morning after bag by Rebecca Minkhoff I got for chrismas is in my favorite shade of grey...this year, for me, its all about the dusty pinks and light grey.
 3. To think about the past week, one of my favorite moments was taking my whole family to the Plaza Hotel and seeing the PINK betsey johnson christmas tree. so fabulous.
 4. We also took tours of decor shops and of course my favorite things were the big crystals at ABC home + carpet.
 5. The soho C.Wonder store is oh so cute. I fell for these little brass jewelry display kitties. I need one asap!
 6. Of course we celebrated Jesus' birthday at St. Patricks Cathedral. Quite possibly the most gorgeous church I have ever been to. It was the most beautiful service. Wow.
7. Lately I have been obsessed with the simplicity of the paintings by Mondrain

8. okay. i have been trying to find some great cateye sunglasses and i finally did! (most of them look so silly on me) but these Dolce Gabbana ones fit just right.
 9. Oh my goodness this chandelier was my hearts delight...
10. Oh and this year I will be wearing my new black sketchers shapeups with neon laces to the gym. They inspire me so...

art + room...woodson + rummerfield Pink Lady

So proud of my former bosses, Woodson + Rummerfield for making the cover of LUXE magazine with their fabulous pink bedroom at the Graystone mansion...they really nailed it with the pink and that has totally inspired me.
blush pink walls + pretty velvet sofa + candle wall sconces + proper painted lady =
domestic bliss
I am just smitten with the look of rose colored walls. I recently read that dusty rose is lucky for me on this birthday colorscope and since my birthday is in less than 2 weeks I want to surround myself with the best of luck + the beautiful color.
Rose is so feminine and so sweet and I really think that I am going to incorporate the pretty color into everything that I do from now on...

Re-decorating in the new year...2012

Now that family has departed from the Christmas in New York festivities, I can finally return full attention to my apartment and making it my own blissful palace...
I want to continuously be adding to my art collection, because my apartment is small I am leaning towards bigger! I also love bright and pretty pastels in the winter months. So, naturally this painting from Lonny mag has caught my eye.

Inspired by this simple candle grouping, I have finally figured out how to best decorate my fireplace for the new year...and it looks a little something like this.
Horizontal stripes are catching my eye as opposed to the vertical ones I have adored for so long.
I am also inspired by the fashionistas of the world...they are some of my favorite artists. I am lately loving dots and bits of blush pink and red.
Here is to a more magical + fashionable 2012...

bliss in the kitch'...mixing wood + metallics

Over the holiday I got to catch up with a few of my favorite blogs and found a new love for warm metallics in the kitchen. I love the idea of mixing, rose gold, gold and brushed silver fixtures. I also love a good stainless steel countertop and appliances. My client and I will be playing all week trying to come up with the perfect combination...

for the perfect look, I am taking a cue from a few of my fave pinterests
I love the big wood planks on the floor mixed with a rustic grey-ish cabinetry. It's very cute country but still a bit modern with that GORGEOUS glass faced fridge.
No exposed woods here but a very pretty mix of deep brass, bright gold + a pop of aluminum. love.
the second i saw this photo on debby's blog, I freaked. The black wood countertop + brass fixture look, mixed in with marble walls and brushed silver drawer pulls and copper and aluminum pots and pans. It's perfection.
they are all so pretty. my heart sings songs of decorista joy!

10 things that rocked my world this week...the pre-christmas edition

 1. My week started off marvelously. I returned from Dallas only to return to a driver( who has become such a good friend) and this was his gift to me. He explained that after being here for almost a year, I deserve this badge of honor. Such a thoughtful gift...and its pink too!

now for some pics around the apartment...
2. Working from home is such a gift but at times it gets hard to stay focused, especially with all the magazines you collect from the airport. I swear I always end up sleeping on the plane and reading the mags at home. They look perfect sitting on mirrored coffee table.
 3. One of my favorite pieces from Zgallerie finally arrived and I just love her. Female artwork is my favorite kind of art. Whether it be photography or portraits...there is something very vulnerable and sweet about it and I love that.
 4. My crystal skull makes me so happy. I don't know why but with my latest obsession with skulls, this one fits the bill perfectly.
 5. My bathoom. Yes it's black and I LOVE it. How great does this artwork by my friend Nancy look?
It's bright, bold and feminine.
6. My art wall in the hallway. Trying to work with the intercom and circuit breaker box is always interesting in these small pre-war apartments but this one is getting to be pretty fun...

7. So, I am having a secret obsession with all things India lately. I have always loved vegetarian indian food, it's one of my favorite things to eat. Tofu & curry...mmm. The walls at this one particular restaurant really struck me, the women wear such beautiful colors, the people love bright and beautiful flowers and they appreciate chandelier scones, just like me!
 8. Another restaurant I walked by had this as its wallpaper and these chic modern chairs. Way to go McDonalds in times square, way to be modern and step it up a bit. I LOVED the zebra walls. They inspired me for a little something new I am working on, that I cannot wait to tell you all about.
(secret to be revealed after the new year)
9. My week up to now was so busy, I am working right up until Christmas day. Yesterday, I got a tour of a reupholstery factory right here in town. This particular place outfitted and custom creates all the furniture for big movie sets and my favorite restaurants in the city. (I got to see some pieces being created for some huge venues and boutiques...so cool)
We are going to do some work together and I really wanted to see what its like in the factory, so I got an amazing tour.
#THESE ARE THE REASONS  I LOVE DOING WHAT I DO IN NEW YORK CITY!
10. It's literally less that a few weeks until my birthday and I just can't even believe how fast my 30th year went by. I must be honest in that I am a little nervous of the looming day. Thoughts and memories rush to my head when I think of it, and its kind of overwhelming. Then I read this neat little color horoscope from a cute little birthday book by Pantone I spotted in West Elm. Needless to say, I am back to loving my birthday and looking where to add more CANYON ROSE to my life!

fashion meets decor: crushing on acrylics

swagger-iffic acrylic cuffs on the arms
meet
swagger-iffic acrylic on the legs...
no matter what part of a body you are on, I am wild about you.

The legs on these barstools completely rock my world. I would imagine these in a black faux ostrich leather and these legs...it would be magical in a sleek and modern apartment.
Yes this desks legs are very stunning.
Ashley Stark's old nyc bedroom had this bench that has been a long time fave of mine...
this coffee table is a great mix with wood on the top and acrylic legs on the bottom. It's a perfect mix of earthy and modern. I would use this in a new york minute.
(I found this picture on pinterest with no source, if anybody knows where I can find something like this, please let me know)
I am quite smitten with this cute little heart stool. Would be perfect for the vanity or bathroom...

Beds on the brain

A decorators work day never ends. One of my current projects is pretty challenging. With the size of bedrooms in the city, storage is so tricky to plan for. My client wants under bed storage and as a decorista, I find it challenging to find both practicality and style in one...
Beds with drawers are so far I think the best I can find.
After all the research, I find that modern beds offer great storage and are still really good looking...
I also love the basket storage underneath this bed, its very cozy and traditional.
Do you guys use the area under your bed for storage???

3. One of my favorite wallpaper companies Flavor Paper does some crazy cool papers...this metallic hot pink fishnets and stilettos is just one of their unique papers. Not only do they do cool stuff they are a great company to work with!
4. This traditional table with an added layer of colored epoxy from
Sschemata Architecture Office is stunning! My dinners would look extra fabulous served on this hot pink table!

 Until next week...XOXO!

tablescape tuesday: back on black

In the midst of all this Christmas cheer, I haven't forgotten about an upcoming NYE holiday too.
I am getting so excited to ring in 2012 and my brain is all on black and white for this upcoming new year. I'm thinking black sparkly dress, white ostrich leather shoes and white nails. So, for tabletop I am envisioning a similar theme for the tablescape. Here are some clever ideas...
All black is so rich and luxe, no?
The toile tablecloth keeps it uber preppy...
Get these chalkboard cheeseboards to use as placemats for your tabletop and have some serious fun!

holiday pretties...

I don't know what it is about the holidays that just has me in the best mood. It's probably the feeling of Christmas joy and all the music that just brings a smile to my heart...(Oh holy night is my fave)
But what really captures my heart is the enchanting decor. These white christmas rooms are my favorites...
Taking a plant you already have and inserting christmas lights is fabulous holiday thinking.
Angel wings are the perfect addition to your dining room chairs. so sweet.
white stockings and a few fairy lights and voila...holiday swagger.

I HE(ART) DESIGN: Chocolate Modern

Hey everybody, It's Lynnette from The It Girl Project with a new room design based on this adorable illustration print from Mandarina's Etsy shop - and it's only $5!!! Who could say no to chocolate? I know I've been eating more than my fair share with all the goodies and gifts around the office. I love this playful illustration called "Me Gusta el Chocolate" and boy do I gusta it. To go with this cheeky print, I designed a kitchen nook/dining area with playful patterns and mod touches mixing in cocoa's and chocolate browns with touches of minty green and olive.

Glamour Kitten...Leslie Pritchard & House Tour

I am still coming of my Dallas high y'all...
I just met so many incredible people and I wanted to share a few more with you. Yesterday I shared with you that I got to hang with Leslie Pritchard at the event and she was just so stylish (her outfit was out of control chic), smart and uber successful. Her vintage shops Again & Again are off the hook. Which lead me to be super curious as to what her home looks like...

My new friend Hilary (who was also a blast to have at the event), was lucky enough to capture Leslie's home and now I get to share with all of you. It's incredibly fabulous, just like Leslie herself.
The master bedroom has gorgeous peachy hues that are accompanied by severely chic modern accessories. I couldn't love anything more.
The guest bedroom is quite the opposite...dreamy blues and still so beautiful.
a little moment of bliss in the kitch'
and now the living room lover...
Her style is fab, no? Check out the rest of her home here on Hilary Inspired (she takes great pics)

10 things that rocked my world this week. December 18

1. So in love with all of the amazing people I got to spend time with in Dallas (my home away from home) at the wonderful VandM soiree. Wish you all could have been there, it was such a great time. I was so excited to introduce my fabulous blogger/decorator friends to my family(see dad and uncle G). Kyle (knightmoves), Beth (PulpDesignStudios), Abbe (Studioten25)...they are the true definition of what I call DECORISTAS

 2. As most of you know, black and white stripes are my favorite...and this tablecloth is perfection in my eyes.
 3. Because my apartment is so small, I have been on the hunt for the perfect coffee table and I finally found it. It's mirrored and moroccan shaped...so perfect. I found mine at Joss & Main.
 4. If you want interesting wrapping paper, hit the thrift shops. My local housing works had this amazing collection of vintage papers. This gold and cream stripe has been a hit with my family.
 5. While I was there I spotted this very chic navy and brass trunk...such the perfect coffee table for a small NYC apartment. I love its ralph lauren edge.
 6. We see them all the time but these ram's head brass dining table just takes my breath away. LOVE.
 7. My new favorite dallas entrepreneuress is Leslie, who owns again & again. She has a few locations filled with the most chic furnishings and such. One of them is this cute little pink house with black and white striped awnings...if the decorista were a house this is exactly what she would look like. Wow. This girl is the Dallas Kelly Wearstler. So fab and we loved having her out to the VandM event.
 8. A huge thank you to the W hotel in Dallas for being such wonderful hosts to us. I loved the design, and had such a great time eyeing the holiday decor. They do everything so glam, just the way I like it.
9. I don't want to go without giving a big shout out to ID Collection. Wow, this showroom really rocked my world. Not only did they have great fabrics, they had the most interesting pieces that I have never seen before. I could be in that place for days and never get bored.

10. Top Golf. So cool. I never thought going to the driving range would be so much fun. All the boys in the family love to be active and I love to join so we had some serious family fun. This is what I love about the holidays....Bonding time. So, I am glad at least I had something gorgeous to look at, the venue was modern and oh so design centric. love it.

office space of the day...the right mix

Things are going swimmingly in Dallas. The VandM event was a smash (read a bit about it here).
The wonderful people of ID collection, Dwell with Dignity and Pulp Design Studios were amazing co-creators of the soiree. Thanks to all who were involved.
I LOVE DALLAS!
Which brings me to this office space. It's sexy, chic and modern, with a dash of vintage...
very evident of what vibe Dallas has going on right now. love it.
White walls + glossy black desk + sexy arm chair + chrome chandelier + edgy art =
domestic bliss
