rooms that rock my world! {NYC city girl glamour}

Oh my, the style in this room is such a fashionista meets decorista glam.
I completely fawn over spaces like this.
Chic gold pieces and layered textures marvel in this super stylish abode.
I could imagine living in NYC and after a full day of walking in 5 inch heels,
coming home to soft music, candlelight and this ubiquitous glamour.

secret of domestic bliss #36... marvelously decorated bookshelves

Nothing says pedigree better than a finely decorated and well stocked bookcase.
It gives the opportunity for people like me, who love looking at people's digs, an idea of who they are,
what you enjoy reading & what your interests are.
It says so much about you!
If you don't read at all, it is most certainly proper to showcase your fabulous dishware.
Whatever you fill your bookshelves with, make sure they are treasures that you are in love with.
(I'm just crazy for the ones above lined in black, simply gorgeous!)
I have always been inspired by the bookcase in Olivia Wilde's home. I love her style.
I just love the unexpected objects and typewriter as accessories.

It's brilliant to accessorize with vintage book collections, the colors are usually simlar.

When you can, I always suggest grouping in colors...it's such a sharp looking effect.

I also am a huge believer in strategically placing fabulous artwork, it can give your bookcase extreme personality.

a coveted cover color story...Vogue Living Australia Nov/Dec 2010

Obsessing over the gorgeous & bright colors on the latest cover of Vogue Living Australia.
It's modern, fresh and fantastic.
I can't wait to devour what's inside... I bet its full of inspiration!
As always, I am up for checking out a peek inside of the famed designer Ilse Crawford.
As for whose home this is on the cover, I have yet to know...but it looks incredibly deelish!

The Decorista Trend Spotting...cowhide meets zebra

I have spotted this look a few places now and the jury is still out.
I am really on board with the look of layered rugs, however have yet to try layering animal hide rugs.
In this particular room I think its smashing but I am not completely sold yet.
What do we think of this trend?

and speaking of animal prints...
I have a very big crush on this set of leopard sheets from Ballard Designs,
thanks to miss Katie A.
What am I going to do until I get a set in my hands? They are so light & dreamy.
Oh my, I think I have fallen in love.

bliss in the kitch'...dark, dreamy and delightful

I am really inspired by the majestic essence of this kitchen right now. As fall weather is coming around, I love the look of rich woods in a kitchen. It's has a very winter cabin feel that entices you to light the fire and whip up some hot cocoa. What better than to sip your warm drink whilst gazing at colorful & lovely accessories that abound? Jewel tones, pretty pinks meet sparkles & gloss in this gorgeous breakfast room. That's about as close to cabin as this LA girl is getting anytime soon.
Oh, how I miss the south...sigh.

NYC city girl style...from Harpers Bazaar November 2010

This is the West Village apartment of Vanessa Traina.
Among her list of many credentials, she is a freelance stylist, Louis Vuitton model, Chanel Ambassador and also the daughter of Danielle Steel, the romance writer,
(how fabulous is that?).
It is incredibly chic. I just love taking a peek inside the homes of fabulous supermodels.
Ever so chic and stocked with one-of-a-kind vintage items, this apartment astounds me. I can only dream of walking into a closet like hers full of exotic furs, chanel bags and coveted heels. Then making my way over to my delicious bar cart adorned with vintage Gucci glassware.
I simply can never get enough of looking at apartments like this.

notice the Vintage Louis Vuitton trunk? Gorgeous!

SIX TO BLISS: the sarah swanson edition

 Who: Sarah Swanson
Where: Calgary, Canada
What: A beautiful mommy of two and a lifestyle blogger for Flourish.

Miss Sarah is one of my favorite stylish gals.
With camera in hand, she captures her tailored style perfectly...always.
Here are her SIX TO BLISS:

My six to bliss is focusing on what I need to have in a space to feel bliss..

1. Hint of black. I adore how it can ground a space. This feature wall with its trim work ( a must for me! ) creates quite a statement. The other thing I adore about this.. the teddy. With two kids running around, in my house there is bound to be a toy in unexpected places. Go with it!

2. Great Storage. My mom has two great armoires that are gorgeous antique pieces. One day one of them will make its way to me, and although I love original wood, I equally love a creamy white finish!

3. Green Botanicals. They add a crispness, and freshness to a space.

4. White kitchen. I am a classic girl at heart. It is SO versatile! Add in the island in natural wood, and I’m sold!

5. J Crew cardigans and ballet flats. My go to fall attire!

6. Family.. this is mine, without them, my home would have no bliss!

Thank you Ashlina.. what a treat for me to share with you, xo

The Decorista tip of the day...add stripes for a quick pick-me-up!

This weekend in LA was the gloomiest of the season so far.
I haven't spent that much time indoors in a while. It got me thinking...
While the weather starts to get gloomier, my bar area needed a little pick-me-up.
So I painted some stripes to perk myself up.
It totally worked and now I am in love.

(as always, please forgive my poor photography skills...one day!)

secret of domestic bliss #35...decorate with a piece of tufted furniture

When decorating your home, there are certain items that transcend periods and styles,
they just look amazing anywhere.
There really is something very grand about tufted furniture.
I feel like it evokes a sense of history and
at the same time can be very modern... the perfect blend.
At the moment, I cannot get enough of the look of perfectly executed tufted pieces.
I totally suggest keeping your eyes out for one of your own.
Here is how you can make it work....

Mix a velvety yellow sofa with high gloss black asian table for a boho chic look.
Or a deliciously soft tufted headboard paired with a glossy mirrored side table is absolute glamour!
I also love a beautiful tufted headboard layered with romantic ruffles for that Parisian chic look.
Nothing says "coziness" like all white bedding...
well...maybe a gorgeous oversized sectional.
A woman after my own heart.
the zebra art in this living room. killer.
the fact that its paired with chiang mai pillows. genius.

Inspired! decorating for the fall

There is something very magical about Sunday mornings during fall.
Fall is arguably my favorite time of year.
For some, summertime is for romance, but for me...my romantic mood blossoms in the fall!
Sweaters come out, snuggling in ugg boots, time to get the fireplace going, football season (I am from Texas after all) and most of all the chill in the air, it's all about getting cozy!
Something about it just warms my heart.
I especially am always drawn to the colors of fall...so gorgeous.
I'm inspired to rearrange my living space when the seasons change and this season in no exception.

Deep purples, warm textures, fairy lights, and candle light dinners blend effortlessly together to create the sublime essence of the fall season...behold the magic.
hope you all were inspired...
happy sunday my amazing readers! love to you. xoxo
