appreciating the chic mix of black and white interiors

Today I am on a shoot styling for an upcoming campaign that is going to be amazing! Remember my last campaign for LM? This will be something similar, I am so excited to share with you all. My inspiration on today is black and white, its the most classic yet chic and stylish color combo. I often am drawn to the simplicity of the mix...

Wallcolor Wednesday {toile on the wall}

Sometimes a regular old paint color just will not do. In those cases, something I find absolutely alluring is toile. It's an oldie but goodie in terms of patterns and right now, its so fresh! Especially in vivid, bright colors. Whether you go for just one wall or all out wall to wall, it can look amazing and reinvigorate your space...talk about rooms with personality

i absolutely adore toile in the kitchen. so cute.

bliss in the kitch' {so obviously loving purple}

Purple is my absolute decor weakness. If I spy a bold purple room, I fall instantly. How incredibly chic is this relaxing little kitchen. So dreamy. I love the light lavender on the walls, very soothing.
Flower decals on black cabinetry. cute...
Open shelving and racks of hanging greenery. even cuter....
This little kitchenette is total domestic bliss.

P.S. This outfit is my latest obsession. A purple skirt is the most fab addition to the wardrobe don't you think?
I adore Amanda Nisbet and her eye, that pretty chair + footstool is so chic.
I love this all purple canvas. Adds the perfect amount of color to bare walls...

DIY home decor ideas...

I am a true crafter at heart. I really don't have much time to do it with everything going on here in the city but I just couldn't resist sharing some very crafty DIY ideas that speak to me. The second I saw these cute little pots covered in fabric, I thought...how adorable! check out my fave DIY ideas...
i love chalkboard paint...
paint black stripes on a wall for a chic look...
spray paint ornate frames in all white for wall magic...
I love this guest room idea...writings on the wall...

white done right. with tiny bits of color

If you love to fawn over interiors like me, then you love looking at photos of all white rooms. I am so fond of all white rooms, they are so dreamy and calm. One thing I have noticed is that when a pretty color is thrown in to an all white mix a little bit of style magic happens. It just looks more decorated and realistic. I think it looks best when just color comes into the room, like this beautiful green. It's so unexpected and chic.

loving this addition of coral-ish orange. Beautiful!
and even just color through flowers, it can work wonders!

Art + Room: how to decorate with art

Art is everything! It is the bones of the room, always. Collecting art for your space is a process, you want to collect over time and make sure to find things that speak to you emotionally and speak to the story of the room. The latest issue of Lonny captures some fantastic spaces...and I personally think its because of the amazing artwork! Ruthie Sommers (one fab LA decorator) chose this whimsical piece for her porch, so tongue-in-cheek
We all know how much I adore photography, and this shot of the majestic ocean stole my heart.
A boombox is so fresh, fun and masculine. A very hip addition to a space.
This abstract is very artsy and unexpected. I dig it.
Fun and flirty women standing around...very vintage chic.
I love this portrait that was done by the homeowner, color by numbers sometimes can be fun to do.
A very cool print adds some interest and will always strike up a good convo.
Nudes are my fave. A very sophisticated and elegant addition.
something about old portraits of stuffy men gives me a nostalgic feeling. I love that.
Roses. So feminine. So beautiful. The perfect explanation of a woman! And I love the size.
How picturesque is this gorgeous photo of Paris? Can be great to keep memories of lovely trips.
Black and white paintings are the ultimate for chic.
This pretty set of waves serves as the perfect guest room piece, relaxing and fun, all at the same time!

Style-icious Sunday: in love with all things tufted

Last night we had our housewarming party at the new place and let me tell you all, it was a blast! Everyone went crazy for our tufted sofa, it was a total find! I realized how much people love tufted pieces...as do I. Who doesn't love tufted pieces? Headboards, chairs, sofa's, etc...it's that extra detail that makes the furniture that much more beautiful.
I am just crazy about tufted leather, this brown chair, so masculine and chic...just melts my heart.

10 things that rocked my world this week! july 9

1. Blazers in the summertime. Yes, thats what I love about my week back in California, I got to wear my cute white mini blazer over a cute dress. In NYC that would never happen, I'd be sweatin' something serious.

 2. Pool time. I am back to my dark skin color, thank goodness. I feel so incomplete without my vitamin D.
 3. I got the best cards over the weekend while I was visiting my family and friends. My sister asked me to be her maid of honor in the sweetest way...and this card was part of the magic. (the words are too good)
 4. Did I mention that I love palm trees? Well I do, and the very thought of them just brings a smile to my face. I get giddy with happy memories of the laid back vibe of this lovely city.
 5. Beach cruisers, yes this is how to roll around the streets of palm springs. What happens though, is I want shop but can't imagine going back with bags on a bike. Keeps my pocketbook full ;)
 6. Home made lattes. Yes, I am obsessed with espresso machines lately, that foamy goodness is just made for me.
 7. The more succulents in my life the better. Went by this adorable venice beach apartment with over 30 different succulents just on the front patio. It was succulent heaven.
 8. B.Hills. My old stomping grounds. Everything is yellow and white striped and I just love it. Reminds me of Troop Beverly Hills, the movie. A very favorite of mine.
 9. This adorable crochet sign made my heart melt. Very boho, california, 70's chic. Had to have it.
10. I spotted this gorgeous work of a nude woman holding up her hair. Reminds me of one of my favorite paintings ever. I love the look of beautiful nudes in feminine bathrooms. Very french chic.

The Art of Living: layered living rooms

When decorating your home, it's important to create a gathering place. A room where everyone can collect together and enjoy great conversation and fun, that is what creates domestic bliss
Some people prefer the kitchen, much like my family, but I also really love the feel of an entertaining ready living room. A well decorated living room will have multiple seating/conversation areas, walls layered with gorgeous pieces that elicit great conversations and plenty of fabrics, patterns and interesting textures. I always think too many mirrors never hurt anybody...oh, and never skimp on reading material either. Big photography based books make for the most fun!

Life in Brooklyn...bright and breezy

I have a small little crush on Brooklyn. Everytime I go there, I have a great time...its just full of surprises. Like this adorable little studio, decorated by Nick Olsen, it's a complete treat! Pretty and light walls give it the ultimate pick me up feeling, total happiness. Each little adornment and detail is carefully done to ensure the perfect functionality for a super small space yet still keeping its visual beauty. Check out this video for tips on small spaces. I love the white with green trim everywhere, such a fresh combo.

Wallcolor Wednesday {trick it out with TEAL}

Ladies, don't hate me but I just have to say, I love helping my guy friends decorate. Wow! I think it's because they REALLY need it the most. The funny thing is, guys are too afraid of color. So, the next guy I help decorate, I am suggesting teal on the walls. It's gorgeous, semi-masculine and loads of color. Guys don't get that the color of your walls can change your life, uplift your moods, and so much more! Ladies, holler if you hear me. ;) and lets love on some deliciously sweet teal walls.

art + room: framed scenic paintings

beautiful french furniture + pretty pretty pink + gorgeous gold + beautiful scenic paintings =
domestic bliss
...because of my recent Sophia Loren portrait print, I am now on the hunt for more artwork to put in my bedroom. I think that a painting might just complement that photograph perfectly. Lately, I am all about beautiful scenic paintings. They take you to another place and add a little something to your space.

Happy fourth of July...God bless America!

I absolutely LOVE America (my grandmothers name is america too, so cute)! I truly feel so blessed to live in such an amazing country. So, I do believe in taking advantage of celebrating and going all out. Especially when having a backyard bash. There are so many ways to be creative... My favorite part of the 4th, well the FIREWORKS, of course!

Hope you all have a wonderful Independence Day!

Style-icious Sunday: color blocking magic

Happy July 4th weekend everyone! Hope you all are enjoying the massive sales as much as I am. I am heading back to my beautiful state today...california. Beyond excited to get back home to my friends, family and that beautiful sunshine that gives me power.
In my suitcase for this trip...nothing but color! This season I am smitten with the color blocking trend, as we all know, I love neons and bright pinks! In my closet, I love solids and mixing bright colors together is the ultimate fun. In my interiors, I love bold and mixing those rad colors gives me the ultimate rush.

10 things that rocked my world this week! july 2

1. NYC transportation. As I head back to LA this weekend for the holiday, I am assured to remember the greatness of easy transportation. Cabs, buses, subway, town cars, etc. It's really fun to get to a business dinner and dropped off right in front, and then picked up right after. Makes life a little easier.

 2. My neighborhood restaurant Vamos! I love my neighborhood and this fun restaurant has been our go-to place for brunch and dinner. We love it.
 3. I love orchids and a very sweet friend gave a beautiful one to me as my housewarming gift. Sits perfectly right by my window. As I gaze out at the green and lush view...it looks beautiful!
 4. I drink tea pretty much all day (yogi teas are my favorite) and I am obsessed with this big mug, its the perfect size and vintage cool.
 5. Mikey, my roommate kelley's dog, is the ultimate best friend. I adore him.
 6. Cafe Habana in soho is one of my fave places to get brunch with friends, and I love the colors they rock. This window is colorful, bright and happy. I love it.
 7. Loving this bathroom door covered in collages of fake polaroid pics. Such a fun idea.
 8. Mrs. Meyers cleaning products are my absolute favorite. The geranium scent just rocks my world. It literally makes the entire kitchen smell fresh and clean. I loooooooove it.
 9. My new dresser. I found it at this amazing antique store and for a steal of a price. The craftsmanship is just beautiful, it sits perfectly in my bedroom and I stare at its beauty and charm every day. Total domestic bliss!
10. This gorgeous chair has inspired me. I love the red and cream stripes and french lines. PERFECTION!

Secret of domestic bliss #52...get some guilded gold goodness

As we settle in to our digs I am quickly realizing that shades of gray are the jam! There is not anywhere I look that I don't spot the dark and delicious color. As I fall hard for my fave shade, I notice that the perfect compliment to this sort of hue is ornate, gold accessories. This antique gold is so on my radar right now. I can't get over it. I want more of it! Especially because no matter what your style is, this gorgeousness can be the perfect addition.

this room from lonny magazine really has touched my decorista soul. The mix of light blue and gold is just effortless.
