Tablescape Tuesday: creating beauty on the table with candleabras

Over the weekend I attended a lovely event called The Wifestyle Conference and it was loads of fun. I learned so many amazing hostess tips...
We were taught how to create the perfect cocktail, how to arrange the perfect flower bouquet, and my most favorite of all was tabletop by Kelley Moore. One thing she introduced me to, and now is my uber obsession, candleabras on the tabletop.
They are such a great centerpiece because they don't block the guest across from you like big, chunky flowers do which I love. Also, who doesn't look amazing under really romantic candlelight? Gotta love that. So now during my thrift store excursions, I have been stocking up on these babies. They are ultimate style and perfection on your tablescape.

The Art of Living: make your entryway chic

Lately I have been stressing to my clients the importance of having an entryway that just has lots of panache....

It needs to make a statement and be extremely representative of how you want your home to feel. It's like the first chapter in any good book, it's gotta get you wanting more. I always love a great piece of art or mirror above a console but I want to inspire you to think outside the box, too. Give your entry space a little bit of flair by adding fun, eccentric and oversized items. Collections can really be perfect in your entryway, too! The bigger and bolder, the better...trust me.

10 things that rocked my world this week! september 17

1. I've realized that not only do I enjoy decorating spaces...I also secretly really enjoy decorating food. How pretty is this dish? All decorista'd out!

 2. Flowers. Flowers. Flowers. They truly are the bread and butter of a really well done photoshoot!
 3. So excited to have had my latest project shot this week for the magazine...I cannot wait to get the pictures published. I hope you guys LOVE as much as I do.
 4. Styled by Accidental Chic for the photoshoot and my word did I just LOVE the jewelry. I felt very 'real housewives of BH'.
5. The fall weather has commenced. This is what gorgeous weather does to me. I just get so very happy.
I was enjoying a stroll with a sweet friend in the park watching a man blow really big bubbles. I felt like a little girl all over again. I love those moments.
 6. Reason number 735 why I am loving this gorgeous fall weather in NYC is that I walk outside more. And when walking outside, I stumble upon the most gorgeous little shops and this one was a detour for a few hours. I could spend all day thinking about the history in the city and the fabulous people who owned these amazing pieces.
 7. Going for a morning jog by the west side river just clears my mind and gets me going for the new things to come. I love the changing seasons. I feel like its just a new beginning for so many beautiful things.
8. Meet the newest addition to my team, Morgan. Very sweet, very excited to get her going with all kinds of fun things.
9. We attended the NY SPACES magazine Top 50 designers event. Lots of fabulous tiles, lots of fabulous designers. I so enjoy a good decorator party.
10. Night time NYC rooftop view...this city is so magical. I am in love.

How to decorate with major impact. Birds.

Can we just talk about the importance of good styling at home? Here is a surefire way to guarantee a perfect vignette....
A BIG DRAMATIC ACCENT PIECE.
These oversized stuffed pheasants/birds are such a great way to accessorize. They create drama, they are eccentric and whimsical. All things that are key in making sure there is some swagger to your vignette.
If you aren't into the bird thing, don't fret. There are other ways to create drama, just make sure they have as much boldness as these guys.

secret of domestic bliss #57...a painted dresser

Oh how refreshed I am now that the Adore Magazine photoshoot has wrapped. I will fill you in on all of glamorous details later. For now, I am getting my day ready to attend a few events. One being the NY Spaces, top 50 designers of NY soiree...Should be pretty fun to see and mingle with some of my most favorite designers. What ever am I going to wear?
While, that is extremely important, the matter at hand today is my dresser....

A while back I found an amazing vintage dresser with beautiful details but I left it all wood, because the craftsmanship is just perfection. Then, I spotted this gorgeous yellow dresser in this photo and almost died. It brought me back to several photos of painted dressers that stole my heart and I realized that I love color and painting my dresser might just put the gorgeous finishing touch on my room/apartment.
The purples on these dressers are just so delicious, I am questioning whether or not I should use one of these gorgeous hues.
I really love this blush pink color...it's such a pretty shade.
WHAT COLOR SHOULD I CHOOSE???

office space of the day...creative clutter

I am seriously so wiped out from all of the festivities and events of the past few weeks, I need to take a long, long nap. Unfortunately, it seems as they say about New York City, it never sleeps.
My clients home is getting photographed today and I can't wait to show you guys the photos, its outrageously gorgeous, you will die when you see it! We also are cooking up a big entertaining feature for the magazine too....

With all the madness going on in my life, things are a little scattered at the moment. While I prefer things organized and orderly...part of me feels that there is something so magical about the clutter of creativity.
P.S. Be sure to follow on Facebook as I will be posting "behind the scenes" pics from the shoot!

So as I hit the town for fabulous finds, I will leave you guys with some beautiful tabletop inspiration.
I love the teeny stemware in the photo above, a collection of these can be so chic.
I always love yummy desserts on tables...so girlie. All white with hints of gold just makes me swoon.

Fashion meets decor: inspiration by Katie Ermilio- Spring 2012

I am just loving New York City during this fashion frenzy. It's been such an incredibly fun and exhausting time. The weather is starting to get cool and I'm breaking out the boots, but I am loving how all the fashion shows are showing color for spring.

So inspired by this Spring 2012 collection by Katie Ermilio. Girl has got some serious feminine wiles. She has me wanting to decorate with gorgeous silk taffeta drapes and bedskirts. I'm dying to add bows to my walls and pleats to my pillows.
Not to mention the fabulous colors for spring...creamy corals and misty mint greens and chartreuse of course, too!
I just know the more fabric and femininity, the better!

The Art of Living: how to decorate around a tv

Having a television can be a tough decorating problem to tackle...
but it doesn't always have to be so bad. Because my new apartment is so small, I am looking for a clever way to add a tv to the wall. I have thought about creating a super fun and large scale art wall but I am also feeling quite inspired by these fabulous decor inspirations!
I just adore those two little busts... and the AMAZING wallpaper below...

Wallcolor Wednesday {wonderfully white}

Why not work it with white?
As much as I just adore me loads of lovely color, I am not mad at an all white room. You can dress up white walls in so many ways to make a fab room. Also, with white, you are not limited on shades...there are several white wall colors that can just look magical. Ivory, off white, etc. They all work really well and are a wonderful neutral.
Keep in mind. Small rooms need major color, I personally think that if you have a small room, color is what helps make it feel bigger. If your room is big, white can be absolutely wonderful!

secret of domestic bliss #56...small space seating

Did you guys see my new loveseat I got for my small nyc studio?
I am just beyond in love with the beautiful teal tufted leathery goodness.
When you have a small space, such as a small NYC apartment, extra seating is so very necessary. What came to mind for me is a beautiful loveseat at the foot of the bed. Perfect for tv viewing and fireplace closeness.
It was essential I get something in my apartment that would provide extra seating for the guests I have staying with me this week. (can't wait. Cassie + Meg)  The NYC Fashion Week festivities are in full effect for the next few weeks and I have a whole host of events to attend. So this little sofa, came in the nick of time!
Do you guys love foot of the bed loveseats as much as I do? I am so fond of the look.

10 things that rocked my world this week! labor day weekend

1. By no means am I endorsing this, but don't you just love the old, retro glass coca cola bottles. The Soho house serves them to you with a straw. I love it!

 2. My sofa finally arrived. It fits perfectly in my little swanky pad and is probably the most comfortable leather sofa...ever!

3. Thanks to my amazing Facebook friends for helping me choose the color of my sconces...
 4. I put them up on my fireplace wall and have fallen in love with them. So very old Hollywood glam.
5. Was lucky enough to be invited to the US Open to watch some REALLY good matches. It was my first time to go and I had such a fun day. Definitely something worth doing! loved it.
6. Went to a wedding over the weekend, which was at the most beautiful mansion I have ever seen in upstate New York. It was literally one of the best weddings I have ever been to. GORGEOUS!
7. The entire mansion of the wedding was covered in candles. I love the look of glowing candlelight all over a home. So romantic and sweet smelling.
8. I love elephants, by far my favorite animal. I found this super cool huge elephant ring and just had to have it. Not sure where I will wear it but it was way too cute to pass up.

9. My best friends came to NYC to visit me for the weekend. I love being a hostess and having people come visit me in this amazing city. Such a blast to show them my new neighborhood and new apartment.

10. I saw this quote and thought of all my friends that I adore so much...love you all!

curtain contemplations...to cornice box or not?

With a crazy weekend and week ahead of me, I am in a super hurry to get my apartment decor all put together...

I have a wedding this weekend, guests that I am hosting and so many events next week for fashion week, my calendar is looking like a coloring book. Sigh.
So one of my personal necessities is to finish my windows (they are the eyes of the home, no?)
I have beautiful drapes that hang and cover my windows, but I am absolutely in love with the tailored look of beautiful cornice boxes to match. So polished and glam...which must mean I need to have one too. I think my favorite are the ones with really fabulous trim and detail, don't you guys agree?
a gorgeous mary macdonald room. die!
I especially love this flowy valance...

office space of the day...i'll never tire of a dash of pink

As I have been working on my e-book and spending hours at my desk...my need for the perfect office space is growing more and more. Unfortunately, I don't have that much space in my teeny apartment but I am going to see what I can do, it's a process. What I do know is that I  might have to add a little pink.
white walls + chic lighting + gorgeous seating + beautiful view + hints of pink =
domestic bliss
I love these offices with hints of pink...

Wallcolor Wednesday {black in the bathroom}

I have been going back and forth with what to do in my bathroom...
I have this weird colored tile (so very new york city apartment) and I have not been able to make a decision on what color to choose for the walls. Black is majorly chic and after looking for hours at bathroom inspiration, I finally decided to go for it. High gloss black in the bathroom is the way to go! So excited to share with you guys the final pics but hopefully it will look as lovely as these beauties!
