10 things that rocked my world this week! august 13

1. Lots of big changes this week. One of the most important...I took the jump, signed a year lease and decided to stay in NYC for at least one more year. Moved into my very own apartment that I am just crazy for. All the way from Gramercy to the Upper West Side. I am obsessed with my new neighborhood.

 2. Spotted this beautiful CD cover in line at Starbucks. I love this quote...so true.
 3. Metallic silver packing tape makes packing boxes and moving utterly glamorous!
 4. Making memories with old friends was one of the best highlights while back in LA (flew back for a few days to work on a new project and catch up with my LA people). This is a reaction face after sharing my adventures in NYC.
 5. Stopping by Santa Monica for dinner at Sushi Roku by the beach. Ah, the sushi in California just felt as good as Thanksgiving dinner. Oh so yummy!
 6. Needing one of these fabulously large straw tote bags. Perfect for all my decorating equipment.
 7. I am not really superstitious per se, but I do love me a good lucky penny!
 8. These lovely black and white striped glasses are my muse for my new apartment. I am so completely in love with black and white. Especially stripes, I just cant get enough.
 9. This gorgeous pair of gold wall sconces is absolutely breathtaking. I am dying for a client to snag them! Such a steal of a price too!
 10. Candles Candles Candles. I love candles. Especially when they come in bright, yummy packages that just make me smile. So pretty!

The Art of Living: living room lovers

The living room is the ultimate place where we connect with our guests, so it can be quite crucial that this space be a happy place. I am oh so inspired by light colored living rooms right now. Currently, my walls are dark, dark gray which is perfect for fall, but for some reason, I am desperately looking to brighten things up and go for a softer look. Sometimes all white or soft, pale colors can be soothing to the soul...here we go, weekend decorating.

This dynamic dining/living area rocks my world because its infused the beautiful rose gold. So heavenly.

Wallcolor Wednesday {black walls. white molding}

A color combo I am seriously considering lately...black walls paired with white molding. It's the classic mix, black and white, yet paired in such an unexpected way. I can't get over the way these deep black walls are just made even better by hooking up with some sweet white molding, such a power couple don't you think?

Going totally gaga for these gorgeous, architecturally perfect and detailed fireplaces. There is something very romantic about a beautiful fireplace and I am just jones-ing for the fall weather and some fireside relaxation...

i love the look of a good white brick fireplace in the bedroom...
oooh and some blue...with books too!

needing. wanting. loving. {vacation home in Montauk by Roman & Williams}

As my LA trip begins to come to an end, I feel ready to get back to the bright lights of my big city. However, I already feel myself looking for my next getaway (the heat of nyc is pretty major). So, I am beginning to ponder the possibilities of a weekend in Montauk, NY...for those of you who don't know, think super duper east Hampton.
I have always been completely fond of this amazing Montauk spread designed by Roman & Williams. I am obsessed with the woodsy, earthy, rustic-ness of the place. The modern lighting and industrial pieces keep it very hip and cool all while still maintaining that cabin log vibe. Agh. I just love it and could definitely use a weekend relaxing on that comfy looking sofa and making/enjoying dinner in that amazing kitchen merged dining room.
Absolutely LOVE it.

The Art of Living... a chair in the bedroom

So, ever since I can remember I loved hanging out in my grandparents bedroom and sitting in the guest chair while grandma would get ready for a special event. It was one of my favorite places as a little girl. Now, as I am decorating an entirely new bedroom for myself, I have decided that this time I insist on having a chair. Nothing more perfect than a place to read a book, sip tea or have a friend to sit and chat with you (moments of domestic bliss). I am smitten with these chairs in the bedroom. Very smart and very sweet.

Style-icious Sunday: safari chic

So, I am headed back on a plane today to LA. A last minute get away. Partly getting out of the hectic city life and partly doing some work. An old client of mine, one of my very very first and most favorites, bought a new home in the hills and wants to change up some things. I am so excited to get back to work on a big California spread, as opposed to the teeny spaces in nyc. Today, I am totally inspired by the exotic skins and animal prints that this client love. So safari chic and oh so masculine.

10 things that rocked my world this week! august 6

1. I have absolutely decided that even though I am currently in living in New York, the colors of LA will never leave me. Bright pinks and jewel tones make the ultimate mixture of delicious color!

 2. Name cards are the ultimate dinner party indulgence. It's too much fun to see your name atop a gorgeous glossy dining table...not to mention the mixed metallic prettiness.
 3. One of my favorite books of all time. Woodson and Rummerfield's High Style has been my favorite summer read. Or shall I say summer 'gaze lovingly at all the gorgeous photos' read.
 4. Leopard skirt in the house. Meow!
 5. When on a deadline to get something done...take your pretty self down over to Starbucks for a venti iced coffee, no sweetner, extra shot. It's got that magic formula that just makes you WORK IT!
 6. The very enormous chandelier at the Mondrian Soho is GLAM-OR-OUS. So much bling, I could hardly stand all the goodness and the metallic mirrored bar was certainly divine. Loved the style.
 7. Such cute little guys those foo dogs are, no?
 8. Anything with a rose pattern absolutely steals my heart. My grandmother just loves roses and so do I. They just make everything so pretty and romantic...even this weird blue carpet.
 9. Drove by this bar in the east village. Such a clever little name that HEARTBREAK bar and I love the big red neon.
10. The best find of the week from the Brooklyn flea. These are for my clients bookcase. The perfect accessory for her totally sophisticated space. I love the detailed touches that give a little flair.

NYC apartment decor style: bits of brick...

It has been a super productive/hectic week for this lil decorista...NYC life is taking some serious getting used to. The more apartments I get to see and work with here, the more I realize the amazing character some of these teeny little gems have. Moldings with gorgeous detailed lines, beautifully narrow yet tall windows, curvy pedestal sinks in the bathroom. My most favorite and the fairest of them all...little bits of exposed brick.
Oh, its just so delicious, I am quickly becoming obsessed. You really can make brick work with any decor style. It can work with industrial chic, romantic, modern, even a little bit glam.

I love when brick is painted in glossy white too. the lonny offices are fab-tastic!

FRIDAY FABULOUS = joss & main meet INSLEE HAYNES

This pretty little watercolor picture just says everything about domestic bliss that I can't put into words. Inslee Haynes...the latest artist to grab my affections is making her waves around the blog world and now she has nabbed herself a spot on one of my favorite sites ever, Joss and Main. Those clever people are hosting a huge SALE of her fabulous work today. If I were you, I would click here and get in on it before it all sells out. I know I'm getting my hands on a piece of her work!
Her work is ultra feminine and ultra fabulous...something about it just captures my heart.
Each figure is just so pretty and inspiring, it makes me want to be a watercolor girl! This is totally how I picture myself working in an office.
I feel like this one was made for me......

secret of domestic bliss #52...take mirrors outdoors

I have a very fabulous friend who turned me onto outdoor mirrors recently. Being a mirror girl, I am always game for mirrors all around. I never really thought how chic a little outdoor mirror could be but it actually is a powerhouse of panache for your outdoor situation.
I love this outdoor mirror with candles floating in front of it...will create the perfect nighttime light.

Whatever you place in front of a mirror will just have more impact and I am loving this green.

Wallcolor Wednesday: mint green walls

I am having some serious fantasies about mint green walls in the bedroom lately. The images are just dancing in my head. I envision mint green walls, black, white and gold accessories. I can just daydream about the deliciousness all day long. It can go modern, it can go vintage or it can go completely retro. Anyway you try it, mint walls are all the rage!

office space of the day...exotic prints in the workspace

I am having a curiously strong attraction to exotic patterns lately. They are so on my radar. How incredibly chic is the pattern-a-licious work space?
Gorgeous exotic pattern + painted green desk + inspiration board + old school typewriter=

how fab are leopard stairs? I swear they will always be in style.
I am a long time fan of zebra print in any color. I love these delicious drapes.
The mix of tiger print and tortiseshell. AMAZINGNESS!

EXOTIC FINDS...the new Zgallerie Fall/Winter 2011 collection

I finally got my new Zgallerie catalog. (why oh why won't they open one in NYC?) I must say, I am loving their new look, its a little bit more exotic. Zgallerie is usually on point in terms of trends and I am very excited that they are offering this exotic chic look at great prices. The new collection is bursting with metallics and lots of gold, something new for the brand. These are my picks, that I am loving on, especially that cowhide rug fabness!
Headboards, 499.00; Metropolitan dinner ware, 7.95-12.95; tiger pillow 69.95; nesting tables 199.95; bedding 39.95-169.95; cowhide rug 299.95

The Art of Living: elements of a party pad

One aspect of domestic bliss is entertaining at home. Such a difficult thing to do here in these NYC apartments being that they are so small. However, you can get creative no matter what size your space with just a few fun touches.
An oversized dining table...even if the table is a tad too big, it really makes for a great entertaining spot and can double for a work space when you work at home.

Get creative with extra seating... I am a firm believer in having extra chairs around the home. I also LOVE how this pair of cushions is set atop the fire stoop for two extra seats for guests...so creative!

A well stocked bar area...having the proper nosh area is always essential for happy guests. An array of drinks, sparkling water and mixed nuts. Perfect soiree snacking.

bliss in the kitch' {delightful and charming meet}

After a long Sunday and an incredibly fun blogger dinner party (more details to come) I am ready to take on  this week as I have a full schedule. As I awoke this morning and headed to my kitchen for coffee, I realize just how important mornings in the kitchen are.
For some reason, this particular kitchen just warms my heart. I love love love the collection of white vases and art on top of the cabinetry. This empty space is usually overlooked but I love what they have done with it. So simple...so charming. Open shelving and beautiful displays are the delightful and charming-ness of a kitch.'

too cute!

Glamour kitten...ANNA CORONEO

Living in New York City has allowed me the opportunity to meet young, glamorous, successful and super inspiring women who have turned their dreams into a reality. I call them my GLAMOUR KITTENS...I want to start sharing their stories with you so I can inspire all of you because they have truly inspired me. Today, I want to introduce you to the very first 'GLAMOUR KITTEN' I ever met in NYC, Anna Coroneo.  Artist, fashion designer, and photographer...this girl is working it from every creative angle and built her business from the ground up. Join me as I take a look behind the girl, behind her business mind and a peek inside her space...
on a business call to Sydney (her hometown), meet her two goldfish...romeo + juliet
What inspired you to begin your career in art and fashion?
I had always had an interest in art and design from an early age, however when I finished high school, I started a bachelor's degree in commerce... I had wanted to do something that was a balance of both art and commerce.
It was during the second accounting lecture, that I realised it was definitely not for me, and so I switched to study design at the College of Fine Arts in Sydney, and I've never looked back! I then continued my studies at Parsons in NYC, where I was able to combine my interests in art, design and business, in the Fashion Marketing course.

What do you love most about it?
The freedom to explore and push design barriers... I love to apply my prints to various creative avenues
I also love the ability to collaborate with different partners. Currently, I am working with a headband company and I am also launching a collection of pillows and wallpaper designs for the home.
a few sketches and doodles

Where do you find inspiration?
I am inspired by my surroundings... Inspiration can be derived from the most random of things... from the skin of a fruit or vegetable, lyrics from a song or even a conversation with a friend... In NYC, particularly, I often find interesting things in the street... just today, I was walking with a friend, and we found a cool old horse shoe, stuck in the pavement in a street in Tribeca! I also love street art and graffiti...
Inspiration is completely unpredictable... I am also always inspired by visiting art galleries and museums around the world... i also love antique stores, flea markets and also ABC homewares on 19th and Broadway...i often find that things that surprise me, catch me off guard or make me laugh, inspire me... i am also always drawn to anything colourful! i don't go looking for inspiration... i just happen to come across things that trigger thought/curiosity
I love to travel, and am always inspired by new experiences and adventures!
I am also inspired by the people in my life... my family and close friends... oh and music! i always have music blaring constantly!
her gorgeous art surrounds her studio/home/office space

What is your favorite part about owning your own business?
Having the creative control to decide which direction to pursue... I am very direct in my creative vision. I know exactly what I want to go after and create.
I also like to have a flexible lifestyle, that allows for lots of travel and I love being able to work from anywhere with a phone signal/internet and paint brushes :) I love to live an international life...
I also love that each day, is unpredictable! I am also lucky to be constantly meeting people of various backgrounds...
I also thrive on the business aspect of having a creative company... I like to understand what is selling, what is popular and see the reaction to my creative pursuits.

Words of wisdom for those who want to take the leap and follow their dreams?
Never give up... always stay focussed on what you wish to achieve, never let anyone dampen your spirits and always surround yourself with positive people!
When there is a will, there is a way!

What do you love most about living in NYC?
ahhhh i have always been madly in love with NYC!!!
The best thing, is waking up each day, not knowing what magic could strike you at any moment! You never know what is going to happen to you... anything is possible!
NYC is the most dynamic, exciting, fun, inspiring, whimsical and vibrant city there is! There is also a huge sense of positivity and forward momentum from people who live here... everyone is always keen to keep moving forward, bouncing ideas and just getting on with making things happen!
I am also the queen of throwing things together at the eleventh hour... and nyc is a city that allows for things to happen very quickly!

What do you consider your "domestic bliss"?
haha! i love this question!
Domestic bliss for me, is having a fridge full of champagne, fresh fruits (watermelon/mango) and veggies... ironed bed sheets... everything in order! hmmm stacks of design and art books... inspiring art on the walls. I also looooove quiet nights at home, watching an old James Bond (Roger and Sean are the best Bonds btw...) and just chilling out on the couch... i've also recently been into double chocolate ben and jerry's for a treat! haha! I also love to cook dinners at home for friends,.. I looove hosting long dinner parties where friends hang out and conversations linger for hours on end... my guests know i also love a good dinner party game too!!
scented candles, music constantly playing, shells and soft lighting in the evening is a must... i also love natural light during the day... i haaaate having lights switched on during the day, if it can be avoided
another factor of domestic bliss... would definitely be having amazing neighbors!!! i have been spoilt with the best neighbors in the city living at the Jade... if you're lucky enough to have great neighbors in nyc, they really become a part of your family! :)

10 things that rocked my world this week! july 30

1. I finally got to meet one of my very first blogging friends in person...the lovely Mariska Meijers from Amsterdam. Extremely talented artist...extremely genuine heart.

2. Motivating quotes just get me everytime. This week I really was moved by these empowering words.  Such a good point, I thought...so I acted on them. Loved it!
3. Fell head over heels for this door number sign I saw as I was walking the streets. So industrial chic looking, no? If the door was touched up with a strong black lacquer, I'd like it even  more!
4. Something about this collection of pipes reminds me of the library at The Soho House...very intellectual new york- esque. I would die to design a room around them!
5. Aqua blue tufting. It's so romantic and dreamy. I am crazy in love with my sofa. We bonded this week over a Twilight Saga marathon. good times.
6. I am coveting this chandelier from the thrift store in my neighborhood. The piece doesn't go on sale till next week because its in the window. fingers crossed no one snags it.
7. So incase you guys don't know...I am pretty much vegan (i will never stop eating fish), so its hard for me to find a good restaurant that caters to my type of eating preferences. Thanks to my manager, I found the spot. Westville has the best menu for healthy eats....oh and really good ginger ale.
8. Hello NYC fire trucks. Not only are they super hip looking, its always a sign somethings going down. In this particular case they were filming a movie and sirens were on full blast. It was a party on the street. Kinda cool NYC moment....
9. This week I decided to try out a new look on my nails inspired by my recent bloglovin photo browsing...coral french mani. I am totally into it.
10. a snap of my favorite flower ever...soft white/light pink tipped roses. so big and beautiful!
enjoy your weekend. xoxox
