A Saturday swoon worthy home

As I pack all of my things up this weekend, I find myself already dreaming up what my next home will be decorated like. Visions of so many things dance in my head. I am especially inspired by this eclectic parisian style inspired home. A little bit of modern country, a little bit of glam.
The turquoise dressers are killing me. I'm crazy about them...
and feeling uber inspired.

wise words for the weekend...

I'm off to Texas this monday, which will be the start of a long traveling holiday season.
This weekend I will be packing up all my goodies and preparing to hit up my favorite cities...
Dallas, Austin, Houston, Miami, San Francisco and NYC!
I will be blogging the whole time and I'll keep you posted on all my adventures, work + play.

wishing you all a wonderful weekend...
& getting so excited for the holidays!

The Art of Living...living room layout ideas

I love the layout of this Windsor Smith living room. It's kind of perfection in my eyes.
The placement of furniture is always key in the living room.
You always want to create a focal point (something beautiful to gaze at) while at the same time making sure there are ample relaxing & conversation spaces. It is a learned art form, but here are some I like to keep around for inspiration.

I'm also kind of crazy about this home. The irregular living room floorplan is always a challenge but I love how everything is blended together so effortlessly. The odd brown leather chair over by the shelving is genius for extra seating. Something else of fabulous note is the daybed with open sides so that the space isn't broken but creates a flow, such a great idea.

Entertaining in style... gingham loveliness + recipe

loua
Entertaining in style is an essential for any decorista.
With the upcoming holiday season I have been searching for recipes to cook for my family when I get home and I am always drawn to gorgeous breakfast decorating. I would rather bake amazing dessert than cook a huge meal.
(Just incase you all didn't know, I pride myself on my baked goods...so very martha stewart-y)
I like to think that baking + decorating go so well together anyway.

I love the look of beautiful gingham with breakfast, and when I laid my eyes on this gorgeous dish + the gingham napkins my heart skipped a beat. Dessert for breakfast? why not?

It looks absolutely dee-lish!

i'm also a teeny bit obsessed with these gingham walls. so very "Updated Traditional".

WALK IN WOWZA

I am always arrested by amazing and gorgeous homes. It's something that I can never get enough of.
My e-decorating clients are always surprised when I try to educate them on creating an amazing entry.
I adore the feeling of walking into someones home and being wowed by its style.
These entryways are so well decorated, I would be so impressed by anyone who decorated the entryway with over the top amazing collections of frames. Here are some amazing ideas...

Now if frames aren't your thing, don't be afraid to wow your guests with dramatic & modern lighting.

secret of domestic bliss #41... wallpaper in your kitch'

So I happen to think wallpaper is always key in home decorating. Beautiful wallpaper can really give your home exactly what it needs to be magazine worthy, which is what we all want right?
Today as I was giving decor advice to a client, I realized how awesome wallpaper can look in the kitchen. My first instinct for this swanky bachelor pad was wallpaper in the kitchen. Then I realized how chic it can be. So, please don't ever be afraid to bang out your kitch' with some gorgeous patterns.

needing. wanting. loving. {velvety green gorgeousness}

I am just completely smitten with the sophistication of this room from Celerie Kemble's lonny spread.
First of all, the woman is a genius with decor, the execution of her vintage & modern combos is completely majorly spot on. Oh, how I love the deep rich green with wood chair and ottoman pairings. How about the black side table with gold embellishments, so glamorous. This is definitely a note-worthy look. I want it all now.

The Decorista tip of the day...gift wrap with style!

Be like Tori Spellings mama, Candi, and get to gift wrapping!
There is something so chic about incredibly well wrapped gifts.
I personally prefer to stick with a theme or a color story, it makes it so much more memorable.

So, this weekend, plan in advance for some mega stylin' gift wrapping action!
Don't be afraid to get creative and use wallpapers, newspapers, comics, maps, burlap, contact paper, etc.  The more metallics and sparkle you use, the better. There are so many different options.
Be bold and have fun!
