the Art of Living...decorating with silver + gold

Remember when I asked you guys if you preferred silver or gold?
Well, it got me thinking...
and I quickly realized that if you love both (much like I do) you can mix them together
to create a hip and different look.
It brings a little excitement and something out of the ordinary to the space.
I don't know what it is or why it is, but in these photos, I am loving the appeal.

Guest Blogging: La Bella Bungalow {my favorite room from Domino}

Do you guys still find yourself heading to the pages of Domino for inspiration?
I know that I do, I have every single issue that ever came out and I look through them all the time.
Gawsh, I miss it!

Today I am over at La Bella Bungalow,
because the lovely Rachel has started a series called My Favorite Domino Room.
Go here to see my favorite...
I'll give you a hint...you all know how much I love office spaces right?
I'm curious as to what is your favorite domino room?

Old Hollywood Glamour {ava gardner}

I love absolutely everything about Old Hollywood Glamour.

Something about the style just captures me, I live in the heart of Hollywood and I truly appreciate the lo
ok of Hollywood interiors back in the golden years.
Ava Garder is one of my most favorite Hollywood starlets...

How gorgeous does she look in these photos?
I love the blue walls and framed prints in the backdrop...

The headboard looks so lush and the white sheets with monogrammed throw come together perfectly.

I can hardly get enough of the gorgeous red velvet chair she is adorning.

Below is her apartment in Madrid (her favorite city in Spain).
Red walls are the epitome of glamorous + luxurious Spanish living.
Notice the extravagant and ornate furniture...I love the look.

and to give a nod to Marilyn...I am absolutely loving the colors going on here.
Wood + White + Blue = gorgeousness
So fun to take it back to the old school for a min. Hope you enjoyed it.

SIX TO BLISS: the Mariska Meijers edition + giveaway

Who: Mariska Meijers
Where: Amsterdam (so fun)
What: a devistatingly chic artist and blogger of IUTBSWBID

here are her SIX TO BLISS...
Books
They bring inspiration and food for thought and make me travel and explore between my own four walls.

Bold mixes
I am rather fearless when it comes to combining styles, patterns and colours. I play around with my interior all the time, blending my own designs with names from Eames to Ikea.

Paint
Although I just moved into a new studio which is a 10 minute bicycle ride from my house I will always have art materials at hand. Inspiration and the urge to create can come at unexpected times!

My kids
Annemarth (14) and Mauk (12). Without them there would not be a home.

The home office
The most important corner of the house. My “office” is actually in the kitchen/diningroom/livingroom. An open plan space with my Mac perched on the corner of the dining table. My kids often join with their laptops and for breakfast, dinner etc we just clear the table.

Nick nacks
Heirlooms, fleamarket finds, pictures. I am just not that into minimalism. Everything in my house has a (his)story. I am a globetrotter and my home with all its contents is a reflection of that..

Secret of domestic bliss #24...creating a gorgeous jewelry display

The art of displaying your precious jewels is not to be taking lightly.
Time, love and creativity should be your motto when you work on creating your beautiful jewel assortment. Why hide the beautiful gems that grace your ensembles day in and day out...they belong out there for us to see and enjoy every single day. I love staring at my jewelry. I love the colors and the stories behind each beautiful piece.
I think we all love displaying our jewelry with pride, no?
How do you display yours?

Blogger style {decorating with a Zebra rug}

We are just moments away from choosing the winner of my Zebra rug giveaway.
(there is still time to enter...so if you haven't yet go here now!)
I am more than thrilled.
So today I wanted to share with you one of my most favorite blogging decoristas, Louise +
how she used the same zebra rug in her stylin' home.
It's neighbored by a gorgeous glossy black dresser and 2 hot pink moroccan poofs.
And to top it off, it's in a cute little girls room.
love.

decorista daydreaming {loving colorful home exteriors}

Last night I dreamt of Italy.
I love to travel more than anything and seeing beautiful homes and architecture of different cultures.
I am so longing a trip to Italy and I am inspired by the beautiful colors of the home exteriors of this gorgeous seaside Italian city, Cinque Terre.
Oh so European and dreamy.
gorgeous.

Decorista Home Tour: zebra rug + my bedroom

I am just dying to know the winner of the Zebra Rug giveaway...only 2 more days to enter!
Thank you so much to all who entered. I really enjoyed hearing all of the fabulous places and the cool ways you would use  the zebra rug.
Now I want to share with you a wee bit more of my bedroom and where I put my amazing zebra rug from RugsUSA.
I am so obsessed with it that I put it right in between my bed and my closet
(which is basically a mirrored wall of closet doors)
So when I wake up in the morning, its the first thing I put my feet on and I love that because hardwood floors can get a bit cold in the AM. I want my feet to feel snuggly.
It's a really good size and takes up lots of floor space, which I love and add a big pop of fun pattern to my room...love!
and now here are a few more shots of my room...
You can see the amazing light from the window above my bed coming through (love that in the AM).
The cute print in the top right corner I won from a giveaway on shari's blog.
It adds such a cute + sweet girlie traditionalist touch.
My headboard + two side tables I found in my neighborhood (free stuff is cool).
I painted the side tables a light tiffany blue and I just adore them.
The little pink vintage bug is a gift from my favorite thift store HEDGE in palm springs.
The beautiful starburst mirror above my bed is from Melrose Trading Post here in LA.
(my boyfriend bargained it from 35$ to 8$...he is the BEST at getting a deal)
and now its my favorite piece in my room.
More pics of my room to come soon...(just finishing up a few surprises for you)
