Style-icious Sunday {colorful. pretty. playful.}

After a week of shopping all over town, I have come to the conclusion that Kate Spade and Jonathan Adler stores are my new home away from home.  NYC can be a bit dreary and walking into places with playful and fun decor is the ultimate delight. So, this sunday I am relishing in the look of a pretty and colorful decorating scheme. I'm fascinated by the use of color...makes me very very happy.
Hope all you lovelies are enjoying your sunday!

10 things that rocked my world this week! april 16

 1. Had a wonderful Monday on set styling a shoot. The most fabulous film crew came out for the day...have to give them a shout out, they rock!

 2. Probably my new favorite little lounge-y hotel in the city, The Jane...had a great time catching up with some girlfriends.
 3. Ran into Kim Kardashian after lunch at The London Hotel. Loved her outfit, (I was wearing the exact same jacket) and her hair was oh so perfect on a super rainy day. I was totally jealous!
 4. On the one day of great weather this week, I hit the local outdoor market. It was mildly hot and the watermelon was the perfect anecdote. So juicy!
 5. Got a brand new MacBook Pro, my macbook just wasn't cutting it. Kinda feels like Christmas morning all over again. Goodbye Missy, Hello Madison!
(yes, I am so the type that names my electronics)
 6. At the fabulous Trad Home launch party, I got the meet the fabulous Camilla of Effortless Style Blog. We had so much fun chatting and talking shop, I didn't want to leave her!
 7. Okay, picture this...dark steel gray wall + bright orange juju hat and velvet wingback chair + gorgeous gold accessories. Seriously my new obsession, such a striking color combo!
 8. Another shopping spree at Michael Kors. I think I might morph into a MK ad any minute now. So classic and chic. This week, I have been rocking my MK trench + gold MK loafers almost everyday. What in the world has NYC done to me?
 9. My blinged out iphone cover gets more attention than a small dog in a sweater. I have such a crush on its ghetto fabulous-ness!
10. Reason #632 why I love living in New York City, 41 Madison. I got to see the most fabulous china this week at the tabletop show. Wow. I wanted it all.

So right now...cowhide rugs

Loving cowhide rugs right now, and they are everywhere!!! Each time I see one their style has just "made the room" so to speak. I feel like they are a twist on the fabulousness of a zebra rug and I'm so glad we have a little zebra breathing room in the world. It's always good to change it up. I just got my hands on a metallic white cowhide rug and I must say, I am kind of in love!

A pink zebra rug really pops against the dark wood walls...
Black in the bathroom totally adds a little sexy.
completely into the look. Get one if you can!

Wallcolor Wednesday... Spring time shades

A very dear friend of mine hates pastels and I am trying to convince her that pastels can actually still be modern and stylish. They aren't just for grandma's country house anymore. Especially with spring coming around, I have fallen for the look of pastel walls. It could be a lovely guest room or bathroom or even your master bedroom. Nothing says relaxing like a soft and romantic pastel wall.

bliss in the kitch' {a quaint kind of kitchen}

My absolutely favorite room in a home is the kitchen. Mostly because I love to get my hands in something. Whether it be cooking, baking, making a smoothie or coffee, all happiness comes straight from this particular room. That's why it's incredibly important for it to be open and clean and pack major style. The hardest part is that some kitchens are so small, with almost no room to work, but these adorably quaint kitchens are calling my name. I would definitely pop into one of these beauties and get to work!

if i were still a little girl...I'd want a little Peppermint Bliss

My lovely and sweet blogger friend Bailey from Peppermint Bliss is pregnant and she asked a few of us to put together a little girl's nursery for her. Check out my guest post at her blog today.

If I was 8 again, I would absolutely want to live in this Windsor Smith designed bedroom.
Incredibly lovely, don't you agree? I am so inspired by cute little girls rooms like these...

Or maybe  room like this girlie fabulousness...

adorable!

All things are crystal clear...the Tron legacy

I know I am a little late to the party, but over the weekend I watched the Tron Legacy movie and was instantly entranced by the set decor. So futuristic and yet still current, the clear hollywood regency style furniture totally blew me away. How fabulous would this clear furniture be in my home? I could not get over how gorgeous it was.
Now, everything I need in my life is absolutely crystal clear...

nesting tables...more than one is a magical number!

After a weekend full of fun (and lots of birthdays in my life) I am ready to be back on the work grind. This week, I am in search of the perfect table for a certain project and I think I am all for a set of multiple tables, like nesting tables. They are a PERFECT solution for NYC apartments. They all fit into the size of one table, yet they can be pulled out to provide extra space when entertaining. Stylish, practical and oh so genius for small square footage decorating!

Weekend Decorating Idea: creative wall decor

The weekend is here and I am so ready to get my decorate on. Especially after that photoshoot yesterday, I am just incredibly inspired. What is on my radar this weekend, putting my favorite things on the wall. I love really great wall collections, and the great thing about it is that it can be ever changing. There is something really invigorating about changing wall decor, it's an instant mood lifter. So this weekend, why not go to a local flea market, home decor shop or even your own closet and find some of your favorite things to display on the wall. Album covers, family photos, vintage art or even your favorite necklaces will suffice...Happy decorating!

art + room {my current art obsessions}

pink sectional + flamingo pillows + stark white walls + Slim Aarons photograph =
domestic bliss
The right artwork is to a room as the perfect belt is to an outfit. It's so necessary if you are wanting to convey some serious style. I love art. In fact, most of you don't know, before I went out and started my own business, I was working at an art gallery in Beverly Hills. It's extremely important for art to be personal AND stylish. It gives a room a bit of movement, art absolutely can lend itself to creating the mood for your room. So important. Lately, I am loving photographs and these fabulous finds...
We have all seen this gorgeous Elizabeth Taylor piece, and its pink! Hello. Totally decorista!
black fading into gold, the is the epitome of sophisticated chic...
I adore the way this butterly gives a fluttery feeling to the room, very whimsical.
Absolutely and I mean absolutely NOTHING says mad style like an Andy Warhol print.

Wallcolor Wednesday... multi faceted color

How fabulous is this mutli colored room? Reminds me a little of a global or exotic hotel that I'm dying to escape to. I love that there are 3 different colors of paint used here... its just so rich + saturated. I am all about bold colors + mixing it up lately. Which lead me to believe a little bit more in mixing wall colors, I am usually not a fan but these well done combinations are twisting my arm and have me thinking...
"I can work with that!"
