secret of domestic bliss #46... how to introduce your home to green

Because it's St. Patrick's Day, a super fun holiday, I had to figure out how to incorporate some green into my space here in the city. Oddly, I have no green accessories here. I then had a genius idea that a great way to incorporate a little green into your home for the holiday is by decorating with plants....hello!
Greenery is fabulous in the home, both real and fake can do the trick. I just love the look of lush plants, especially succulents. I have a super crush on those beautiful earthly things. The perfect accessories for spring.

The Decorista takes NYC: Aphro Chic Brooklyn Launch Party

Had a blast on Monday at the AphroChic launch party in Brooklyn at the Fabrica showroom. I loved seeing her latest collections placed perfectly all over the shop. The stylish were out in full force that evening and I was delighted to meet so many sweet and talented people. The flowers were styled by Kat Flower (I absolutely adored her) and her skills were so on point and gorgeous. It was the perfect soiree to kick off the Architectural Digest show festivities that are happening this week. Stay tuned for my many coverage on the many events I will be attending. For now check out the fabulous vignettes from the party...
Oh so pretty and perfect for spring, no?
I also found myself eyeing some pieces throughout the showroom which I absolutely adored.
I loved this perfect purple/magenta vintage velvet chair...
and this gorgeous and hot pink ribboned light fixture.
Mega swooning action!

fiela feather lights by haldane martin

I don't know what it is about feathers lately but I am just smitten with fluffy things for spring!
I have noticed around the Scandinavian style blogs and online mags, these gorgeous feather pendant lamps keep popping up and every time I lay eyes on these babies I have an instant love affair. They are fluffy, cozy and gorgeous...perfect for romantic french or scandinavian chic style.

Designer Haldane Martin from South Africa actually makes these gorgeous feather lights.

They are oh so delicious + pretty. They come in either pendant style or arch lamp style.
I love everything about that...get them here.

Wallcolor Wednesday... lovely light blue

There are so many color options for walls that just the thought of painting a new apartment is daunting. Luckily, I am already leaning in one particular direction...right now I am entranced by the beautiful bright colors of spring but for some reason I am loving lovely light almost a pastel, tiffany blue on the walls. It's incredibly calming and serene and everything you need for a beautiful room this spring.

Tablescape Tuesday: the perfect tablecloth is everything

When decorating your table for a dinner party a sure fire way to have a stylish soiree is a pretty patterned tablecloth! Choosing the right bold pattern will give your party an instant look of chic. Don't be afraid to get fearless when mixing patterns. If you feel thats too risky for your style, go with simple colors in your dishes and flatware and let the tablecloth speak for itself.

office space of the day... foo dog accessorizing

white parsons desk + pretty vintage chair + ribboned panels + family photos + turquoise foo dogs =

The notoriously popular foo dogs are still a little weakness of mine. They are the perfect dash of color and completely adorable!
I am obviously fond of the turquoise ones, but these yellow ones are completely chic too!

The Decorista tip of the day: decorate with juju hats

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you guys enjoyed your weekend.
I had a whirlwind of a weekend. So, I stumbled upon this seriously good flea market in Chelsea yesterday. Oh my goodness, it was like christmas morning with all of the gorgeous goodies...more than I could have imagined. It was a pleasant surprise to find an exotic dealer who had a beautiful assortment of bright and colorful juju hats. I found myself needing one badly. They are so delicious in person, if you don't have one yet, get one. They are still very much in style. Love them!

see how fabulous they look on the walls...

10 things that rocked my world this week!

1. What a lucky girl I am...my sweet sisters-in-crime Nancy and Suzanne (LA woman) and I got together for a fabulous night on the town.
2. I've ventured out to the city streets and madison ave (my favorite) and came across this gorgeous crystal rock window display and was mesmerized and totally inspired!
3. Finally got a chance to visit the HEARST building...Wow, it was absolutely gorgeous!
4. I thoroughly enjoyed the Country Living magazine "brooklyn themed soiree". It was a super fun event and was thrilled to get to meet Chris Allen (publisher) and Lisa, the beautiful blogger behind HamptonToes.
5. Okay, I have to tell you, CB2 came in handy this week as I needed to get some quick brightly colored accessories to help style a friends shoot. Bright neon colors were all over and made me so happy!
6. I can't forget to mention how incredibly nice it has been that I have now moved from super big and fluffy winter coat to my favorite black leather jacket. The weather is getting so much warmer. yay!
7. Which leads me to my latest obsession with red leather. Not only on nicole richie, but have also spotted on gorgeous furniture as well.
8. Spent a whole afternoon devouring the book WALLPAPER PROJECTS. Oh my goodness, if you want some great ideas on where to use wallpaper instead of on the wall this is the book for you.
9. I'm in this weird transition from winter nail polish to getting brave enough to rock bright spring colors. My perfect balance is from the new OPI TEXAS line "houston we have a purple!" I'm obsessed! (I am a texas girl after all)
10. Starbucks iced coffee. I can finally drink it again. Yay for warmer weather!

Saturday Sponsor Post: Heady Bed Headboards

I'm always looking for great headboards. Most of them can be quite expensive and not exactly what you want. So when the sweet girls over at Heady Bed sent me their portfolio, I knew I had to take a second look. I was blown away...these girls are genius, they have bridged the gap between expensive headboards and DIY by customizing modern upholstered headboards. Not to mention, they are at a super great price point, too!

Check out their portfolio...

The Art of Living...how to display your shoes

Shoes. What girl doesn't love her shoes? Really beautiful ones are almost like art themselves. I have been known to buy an expensive pair of shoes just because I love to look at them. I once left a pair on my dresser because I didn't want them hiding in the closet...le sigh.
I love seeing clever ways to display your shoes.

here are some of my favorites...

And nothing is better than a beautiful white space that surpasses all necessity for any color, its so very calming. It absolutely rocks my world. Nevertheless, we all know its not really that possible to live in picture perfect white, but it is incredibly beautiful to look at. So I love sharing the inspiration with all of you...

The Decorista tip of the day...wallpaper on the ceiling

So yesterday I spent my day with the wallpaper installer. I learned so much about what is needed to ensure a proper ceiling wallpaper install. Since my meeting with him, I am now strongly convinced that more people need to be wallpapering their ceilings. I will never look at a ceiling the same again.
After doing some research online, I noticed that rooms almost look empty to me should they not have some embellishment or color on the ceiling. Having seen so many photographs of gorgeous interiors, don't you all agree?

for the fabulousness that is wallpaper magic...

look! even Kelly Wearstler does it...

Home Tour: Angela Cunha's black and white stripes

This super fun + modern home tour is the home of Angela Cunha, a portugese interior designer. She sent me some lovely photos of her home so I thought they would be perfect to share with all of you. What impressed me right off the bat are the abundance of black and white stripes throughout her space. I am absolutely crazy about the black, gray and white striped wall. So clever and stylish. It's really a job well done.

I'm sure most of you caught this One Day make-over in House Beautiful. I fell instantly for the use of the color purple (my favorite color). After this article, I knew I had to go check out the work of HB Home. Just as I had expected...I was extremely impressed. I love the uses of color, textures and patterns. Very chic. They have locations all over the east coast and I had no idea. Now I need to rush out the door and go check out the NYC showroom. Yay. Shopping!
