10 things that rocked my world this week! may 29
1. Meet Alex. My client. People always wonder (I get many emails from you amazing readers) how I manage to get clients. Well, I met alex in the dressing room at Bloomingdales. After a bit of chatting, she let me know she is opening a children's boutique called Piccolini in Nolita (the cutest neighborhood). When I told her about my blog and what I do, she hired me on the spot! We have become such great friends since then...I love empowered girls, we are taking over.
2. So, here is a pic of our progress. The walls are super chocolate brown, yummy. We are finishing up with white molding throughout and hints of green. Will show more photos as we go.
3. I got a beautiful book in the mail (stay tuned for a great book decor giveaway) and fell in love with the thank you envelope. So pretty and put together. I love those kind of packages in the mail.
4. Oh yeeeeeaaaaah. New York is hot! Like really hot, and from what people keep telling me...it gets hotter! goodness. I have found my ultimate treat for cooling off in the city, Aroma Cafe frozen minty limeade. Delicioso!
5. Soho street fairs. So rich with pretty colors. gotta love em.
6. I couldn't resist snapping a photo of this pretty cross in lights. There was an altar for St. Anthony in the middle of the city. Never a dull moment walking these streets.
7. Housing works rocks my world. It's pretty much a wonderful way to spend your day...thrifting. I happen to be obsessed with the book section.
8. The James hotel rooftop is such a fun little place to cool off after long hot days. It has a gorgeous view, gorgeous pool, and super fun little bar/lounge area with great decor. If my camera (i phone) could take pics in the dark I would have loved it even more.
9. Brunch at Essex. Probably some of the best food I have ever had in my life. AND some of the best people watching ever. good times.

Style-icious Sunday: happy and confident color
No one will ever experience their destiny if they never step out and be bold. There is something so exciting about boldness and confidence. What I love about being in nyc is the people that surround me are so motivating and inspirational, especially the girls... ready and willing to put on a brave face, and go after their dreams. I feel that way about decor, you should always be bold and confident in color. color = happiness.

Keri Russell does Brooklyn with style.
I fondly remember Keri Russell as Felicity, one of my favorite tv characters ever. I watched that show religiously. It was the first time I ever thought about living in New York, I was obsessed. It's so incredible now to remember how I felt about NYC back then, and how I can't believe that I am actually living here now. Each time I pass by Dean and Deluca, I totally think of that show. So, as you can imagine, when I saw this spread of her Brooklyn home, I got extremely excited. Boho, eclectic and dreamy, all things that are the epitome of miss keri. I absolutely adore her style, and I also really adore Brooklyn.

Friday fun with The Decoristo...the southern girl in me.
office space of the day... purple fabulous-ness
white walls and gold mirrors...
A lovely and very chic decorating combination, white walls and chic ornate mirrors make such a fabulous mix. Hoping that my new NYC apartment allows me to paint, however, just in case that is not the situation, I'm daydreaming of ways to work with white walls. These are such fabulous examples, no?
NYC apartment inspiration...sophisticated decor
Ok, so the heat in new york city is getting pretty apparent. Sigh, makes me miss my southern california weather. Having said that, I know I can't complain...new york city is so chic and sophisticated. I love it.
I have some exciting news...I have found my dream apartment in the city and I am looking so forward to settling down and moving in. I go over and over in my head for apartment decor inspiration and this photo just makes me swoon! Black, cream and candles, I just love the sophisticated style!

So on my decorista radar...gray + yellow
So for some reason I just can't get enough gray in my life. I don't know exactly what it is about it but I have a huge infatuation with him. He's masculine, sharp, cutting edge, and gorgeous! His pretty girlfriend yellow, is just the perfect compliment. Lately, this color scheme is so on my radar. Mixes of grays and yellows are perfect for this season and probably never out of style. Love it.

moments of domestic bliss with books.
Journals, books, magazines...they each evoke a different aspect of domestic bliss. I love sitting among collections of my most favorite and treasured books. While some might argue that too many books means clutter, as an avid reader, I will defend books to the end! Join me as I revel in these beautiful captured moments...

2. I love girls who love jewelry. This came out of a tiny little package, banging out the bling for all the girls in the hotel.
3. This chair I saw at one of the showrooms, killed me softly. I fell instantly for the juicy brown leather-ness. Mmm.
4. If you have ever been to beauty and essex on the lower east side then you know this fabulous blue wall. I fell in love with this vintage shop/bar/restaurant. Oh my goodness, the decor in this place blew my mind.
5. Mostbangin'est is hands down my favorite dj ever. His music and mixes are bangin'. I loved hearing his music this weekend.

7. Most of you will recognize these faces. None other than the people who will be dominating our design field in major ways! Can't wait for fun collaborations.

The power of molding
Sorry for the lack of posts this weekend, there have been some crazy things going on in my world this week. I never want to let you guys go days without decor inspiration, so I appreciate your patience.
Having said that...part of what I have been doing is getting serious on my boutique retail project in Nolita. What we are doing next...MOLDING.
Molding is a must, especially for an older building. It can give such a sophisticated and polished look. I'm really in love with these beautiful ways you can use molding to make an impact.

Friday fun with The Decoristo...white!
The Art of Living...mixing black and gold make it luxe
Absolutely loving this black and gold piece of artwork over the nosh spot. Mixing these two stark colors instantly gives the look of luxury. If you are wanting to give your home a little bit more luxe, try adding a mix of black and gold. It can be through a piece of art or wall color and mirror...whatever your method, it can give serious style!
Wallcolor Wednesday {pretty turquoise blue}
At BlogFest, we got these great new House Beauitful books and its all about BLUE! I just love a turquoise bedroom. As a decorator, I adore using turquoise because it is one of those colors that just soothes the senses and pleases everybody. I know I could always use a bit of turquoise in a room.
This very traditional bedroom is one of my all time favorite rooms. It's very sophisticated and lush, I could absolutely relax in this lovely space.
In addition to a very serene bedroom, turquoise is perfect in the living room, too!
I love these perfectly aqua hued rooms, dark wood floors are the perfect companion to the bright and bold colors. They both are uber delicious and every bit of turquoise I could ever need.
Office space of the day... the offices of Lonny
Since yesterday I raved about my obsession for Domino, today I had to share my latest favorite office space craze...(especially since its the office of ex-domino editors). Welcome to the offices of Lonny. So stylish and fun, how fun would a day of work be like in the likes of these well decorated rooms? I am smitten with the beautiful white brick walls and the great artwork. Artwork always speaks volumes to me about the chic-ness of a space. Right behind that is lighting and the gorgeous chrome arch lamp...i LOVE it.
Getting down with vintage domino.
Blogfest 2011 is out of control. NYC is just booming with design buzz and the showrooms are loving it. Yesterday we had tons of great publishing talk, including memories of the ever so loved Domino mag. Reminded me of the very first Domino I read, the first issue, it felt like my birthday...best decor mag EVER! Today, again, I'm running around like a madwoman at this great event but I wanted to leave with you some of my Domino favorites!

10 things that rocked my world this week! may 14
1. I swear, blog friends are the BEST friends. My super beautiful and talented (and super twinsy) Crystal came out to NYC for a quick jaunt and we enjoyed the most beautiful restaurant garden, Barolo in Soho...and a few more incredibly fun places that are to be kept a little secret. It was a fun girlie blast!
2. Luckily, we snapped a photo with another adorable cute blogger, Shauni, we love her!
(Casa Sugar's Julia was also in the house and miss Erika of BLB was on speakerphone, it was a blog love fest!)
3. Oh I am so thankful for these Kombucha tea's at whole foods. They are super yummy (it takes a little getting used to the weird taste) and supremely good for. You know as you drink it, its doing something GREAT in your body! Try them. gingerade is the best.
4. Went shopping in the West Village again, i'm slightly addicted, and I stopped by this uber hip showroom full of gorgeous and bright glassware. I couldn't resist snapping a pic bc it reminds me of my favorite store in Palm Springs. Love it.
5. Street fairs are in full effect on the streets of Soho in spring. Loving them and loving the beautiful necklaces displayed on mirrors. Clever idea.
6. Have you guys ever tried the Brunette (nutella-ish) cream at Le Pain Quotedien? If not, please do, it's AMAZINGLY DELICOUS!
7. Have fallen in love with this gorgeous stroller that we are using on a project in Nolita. I can just imagine being a super hip NYC momma, strolling the seats with this gorgeous number.
8. Okay, this week it seems like a lot of food, but NYC is packed with the most delicious treats in the world. I had a spinach, tomato and pesto crepe......oh my goodness.
9. The Patricia Field showroom (the stylist from Sex and The City) is flawless and her windows are so completely stylish and avant garde, I probably sat there for a good 15 minutes studying her set design. Genius.
10. I saw this amazing artwork by Sophie Staerk and recognized this room right away. It's of a project by Woodson and Rummerfield of Christina Aguilera's house. As I'm sure most of you would imagine, I became emotionally attached to the photo. so beautiful!
