moments of domestic bliss with Rachel Gilbert

This beautiful fashionista opened her home to SHOP til you drop mag. Rachel Gilbert's NYC apartment is super girlie and totally glam. I love these photographs from her spread in the Feb issue. It just goes to show how the little things are what make a home blissful. JOY letters by the window, lovely flowers, black and white photographs of you and your friends, artwork you adore and of course fabulous ghost chairs in the dining room. Too cute.

office space of the day...e-decor client sneak peek

My e-decorating clients are better than ever, I hope you all know how much I adore you. In fact, one of my clients emailed me and said "I have been decorista-ing all weekend..." I loved that, such a cute phrase.
I wanted to share with you a sneak peek at one of the coolest spaces. Lara is a fashion PR business owner in Sydney and her office space is mad cool, think huge loft like white walls. We are decking it out so fabulously, it's black, white and a dash of pink. major decorista bliss. I can't wait to see the final product.

needing. wanting. loving. {geometric lamps}

Recently I told you guys how important fabulous lamps are to a room. I couldn't stop with my obsession for finding a perfect pair for my new NYC apartment...I haven't exactly moved in yet but I am already putting together mood boards + shopping lists of what I am daydreaming of. These gorgeous Geometric lamps are just my speed and I am dying for a pair. It's between the pink or the gray, or maybe the green. I love them all its so hard to decide.

office space of the day...fabulously black and brass

black walls + gold accents + gorgeous lucite desk + faded blue rug + brown leather chairs =
domestic bliss

So, I don't think I could ever get enough of dark black walls. Every single time I see a black room, I am stunned by the beauty of it. Is it odd that I mostly have black in my closet too? I love black...its classic, simple, elegant, edgy, and it goes with everything!

Tablescape Tuesday: Diane Von Furstenberg for your table

Wish you could have Diane Von Furstenberg over for dinner? Well, now you can. This mega-mogul fashion designer has come full force onto the interior design scene. Like other fashion designers, Diane made waves tricking out a fabulous London hotel and now has stepped it up like Kelly Wearstler and created a line of dishware that is fun + oh so fabulous.
Turquoise and black leopard print for my tabletop? Yes please!

The Decorista tip of the day.... layer mirrors

One of my E-decor clients is obsessed with making her fireplace be show-stopping! So as I have been researching for some fireside inspiration, I came across this image and fell in love. I think its genius to layer mirrors, they give such dramatic impact. IKEA has fabulous (and budget friendly) square mirrors that you can get and stick on to the wall above a fireplace...and then just find an ornate + glam mirror to lean up on the mirrored wall. Instant style!

a decorators dream...Fresco Towels

Don't you just love it when extremely creative people come up with a genius idea that you wish you had thought of? Well, I am absolutely smitten with Fresco Towels. This family owned beverly hills business is single handedly taking over the towel market quickly. The towels are oversized and overly soft, made of 100% Turkish cotton and they feel like an absolute dream. They showed off their stuff at the NYIGF and they blew me away! These towels are the perfect way to add a huge pop of style into bathroom decor. They are everything you need.
a line of gorgeous pillows. I cannot wait!

all in the family...Susan Gutfreund decorates in Paris

I've been so busy keeping up with this NYC energy I have barely gotten around to my favorite decor glossies. I know I'm a little late but I am absolutely blown away by this winter's issue of Veranda. I truly believe that its getting much much better since Dara came along. I loved the Jennifer Lopez spread and the Hutton Wilkinson entertaining article was just gorgeous.
Interior Decorating is an art form that runs strong in my family so I also wanted to take a moment to appreciate the decorating style of my aunt, Susan Gutfreund, and her mentor/friend/decorator Henri Samuel and their beautiful spread. Together, they have created some of the most beautiful decor I have ever laid eyes on. This time they have decked out her home in Paris with panache (and a bit of soft glamour) and in this January/February 2011 issue, Veranda made note of it.
It is love at first sight as you gaze your eyes upon the entryway's grandeur staircase. The magnificence doesn't stop there... in the main rooms, the dreamy walls are so soft and romantic, the perfect setting for the characteristically French detailed moldings. I love how the soft color palate allows the ornate and dramatic light fixtures to steal the show and the luscious greenery adorns the room with a perfect pop of color.
How about the charm of this dining room? Aside from the fact that it is beautifully ornate, it also has a sense of warmth to it, like you could sit here for hours over a wonderful meal.
This beautiful master bedroom is the perfect jewel box with gorgeous gold accents and lovely floral patterns.
I love the mix of muted reds and simple dashes of blue.

Style-icious Sunday {mad about NEON}

I don't know if its the white + snowy winter here in nyc or what but I am craving everything NEON. It's like a pop of happiness in any weather or in any room for that matter. I'm loving hot pink lips, bright green lamps in otherwise muted rooms, pops of neon colored artwork, bright purple nail polish, anything neon lucite, yellow handbags and neon blue walls. This relaxing sunday I am taking inspiration from the gorgeous fluorescent colors of the world...they are all the rage and oh so glam!

bliss in the kitch' ...black and yellow splendor

The minute I laid eyes on this photo by Laure Joliet, I was done.
It's just delicious.
Hello, notice the yellow and white striped outdoor area, complete with an aqua rocker.
I am forever a fan of cowhide rugs and Saarinen looking tables, of course. Swoon
The playfulness of these elements are absolute perfection.
The chairs are so incredibly genius with the dark walls and black + white cabinetry.
Not to mention the ever so funky chandelier.
loving it!

secret of domestic bliss #44...big, bold and beautiful lamps

I always say that lamps are to a room like earrings are to an outfit... they are an essential part of the decor.  Most of us who have great overhead lighting forget that lamps are so much more than a fabulous source of light, they are a key figure in decorating. Big, bold and beautiful lamps can do so much for a room. A stand alone beauty can make a huge statement all by itself and give a room that extra pop of color that it needs. On the other hand, when you add a pair of lamps, your room is instantly more sophisticated and polished. You can find just the right pair to tailor your room and make it complete. If you find a pair you love, just grab them. You never can have too many lamps.

How to decorate like Kelly Wearstler

Aren't we all dying to know? Thanks to my friend over at Sketch42 I found out that Kelly Wearstler has a new blog and the news is spreading fast.
MyVibeMyLife is a collection of the beautiful images she takes in her daily life. I love her first post on how she puts together her ideas. She is so clever, she uses "vibe trays" to organize her thoughts. Brilliant. Check out her new fabulous + fun website!

The Art of Living...how to decorate a fireplace

The next few days here in New York are supposed to be wildly snowy. So aside from the bevvy of blogger/magazine launch parties this week, I'd love to be bundled up next to the fireplace catching up on the online glossies. Which brought me to the question that most readers ask me...
"how do I decorate or style my fireplace?"
I am always a huge fan of artwork above the fire, something extraordinarily beautiful to gaze at.
Mirrors work too, they open up the space and with beautiful ornate framing can be a lovely sight.
A combination of both art and mirrors can work extremely well too.
I especially love this purple room and how to use architectural elements (ie. graphic molding) to create a beautiful look with amazing style.
